Abstract

Background: School Health Unit is an effort to build healthy habits in order to improve students health through three main programs, namely health education, health services, and healthy environment development. Development of school resilience was conducted through a healthy school environment. Due to improving the health of school communities, an healthy school environment should be created. Purpose: To identify the indicators of healthy school environment development of school health unit program: at Public Primary Schools in Bontobahari Bulukumba district. Methods: The descriptive survey with cross sectional study design. The population of 27 schools with random cluster sampling technique. The obtained samples were 13 schools. Results: The results showed that there were 10 schools (76.9%) with good category and three schools (23.1%) with adequate category. All the schools meet the indicator of the room and buldings, lighting, garbage, noise, and sewerage. Most of the schools meet the indicator of the board distance, classroom density, clean water, cafeteria/eatery, and school grounds. Only a limited number of schools meet the indicator of the ventilation, hand-washing facility, and behavior. All the schools eligible indicators of the learners table and WC/Toilet. Conclusion: The development of healthy school environment at Public Primary Schools on sub-district of Bontobahari in Bulukumba district were in good category. It is hoped that the next researcher would examine other indicators overview of school health unit program, namely health education and health service.

Abstract

Background: Aging is a condition or individual circumstances which unavoidable. One of the attempts to achieve optimal health status is by improving the nutritional need of the society, especially the elderly.The increasing of elderly number will cause various complex problems for elderly families and society.The purpose of this research is to figure out the overview of screening and assessment of nutritional status in elderly at Pampang village in Makassar. Methods: Quantitative research with descriptive research design is used as a method of this research. Samples were obtained by using consecutive sampling with a total sample 152 eligible respondents. Results:The screening results of the first phase showed 38.2% of the elderly have a normal nutritional status, 50% of the elderly are at risk of malnutrition, and 11.8% of the elderly have a malnourished nutritional status.The results of the phase II assessment which were obtained from  94 respondents from the first phase (malnutrition respondent and respondent having risk of malnutrition) showed 7.4% of them have a normal nutritional status, 78.7% are at risk of malnutrition, and 13.8%  have a malnourished nutritional status. Conclusion: Based on the results of phase II, it is showed that more than two third of respondents (78.7%) are at risk of malnutrition. The assessment of nutritional status should be conducted every 3 months in the elderly in order to prevent the risk of malnutrition and the malnutrition it self.

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is still a major health problem in Indonesia. Community participation is a key component of DHF control. The group of schoolchildren is part of a group of people who can play a strategic role, considering the number is very much around 20% of the population. Through this Jumantik, the elementary school children are trained as a mosquito larva (jumantik) in their school. Objective: Establishment of larva monitoring group (Jumantik) and implementation of mosquito nest eradication activity at home and at school Method: A community service activity is conducted by recruiting and providing the training for Jumantik School Children and the teachers. Before the training, the students were given with the pre-test. After the training, the students followed the post-test and were given the mosquito eradication kit to undertake the mosquito larva monitoring at school and home. Result: As much as nine elementary students and three teachers were formed as jumantik volunteers from three different elementary schools namely Malewang, Palleko and Pangembang . The result of pre-test of 9 students, the average score of 8.67 (maximum points 15) with the highest score 11 and the lowest score 6. While the post test results obtained an average value of 11, 89 with the highest value 14 and the lowest value 10. The forms of activity for this program were: establishment of Jumatik school children, distribution of mosquito eradication kit, distribution of leaflet and stickers as the media of health promotion, provision of certificate of training of Jumantic school children and the teachers, the establishment of Plan of Action (POA) of the program and the production of second-hand good products. Conclusion and Suggestion: There are six activities that was implemented in this community service activity. It is suggested that the school to carry out routine activities according to the POA that has been agreed and the community health center can supervise the activity undertaken by the Jumantik school children. Keywords: Jumantik, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, school children, mosquito eradication

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia is an archipelago country that has a diversity of race, culture and customs. Not infrequently customs that are believed by some to be not only a positive impact, but sometimes have a negative impact, especially in health problems.To identify Mabbakkang indigenous phenomenon and its effect on the health of the communities in the District Bacu-Bacu, Pujananting Barru. Method: Type of studi isQualitative research (phenomenology) was performed on 9 participants who have experience in custom undergo Mabbakkang through interview techniques in-depth interviews and data were analyzed by thematic analysis the technique developed by Colaizzi. Result: This study resulted in 7 themes on a custom implementation Mabbakkang ie execution time, the implementation, a series of execution, people involved, dietary restrictions, reason, and the consequences of breaking taboos. Conclusions: This study shows that a custom implementation Mabbakkang is one tradition that is held each year as a condition for the perfection of a child-Bacu-Bacu village communities and give effect on the health of the communities in the District Bacu Bacu-Pujananting Barru if breaking taboos.

Abstract

Introduction: Smartphone is currently a tool for communications that is widely used by all people, especially among high school students. Excessive use of smartphone can lead to smartphone addiction. Someone who has a smartphone addiction have anti-social behavior towards his environment. This study aimed to describe of social interaction on the male and female students who have a smartphone addiction in SMA Negeri 21 Makassar. Method: This study design used is quantitative with descriptive survey. Selection of sample using cluster random sampling, total 95 respondent. Primary data obtained through questionnaires. Result: Based on the results of a study of 95 respondents, shows that respondents who experienced low-level smartphone addiction 19 people (28.8%) had a high social interaction, similar with respondents who experienced medium-level of smartphone addiction 43 people (65.2%) and high-level 4 people (6.1%) had a high social interaction. Conclusions: The study concluded that all levels of smartphone addiction has a high social interaction, not all respondents who use smartphones tend to be indifferent to his surroundings. They remain more comfortable communicating directly with the people closest. This research is expected can provide benefits that can be used as information specifically for students of SMAN 21 Makassar, and can improve socialization skills in the environment so that it can improve social interaction began to crushed
