Abstract

Background: Rhodamine B is a synthetic substance which is generally used as a dye in paper, textile or ink which causes respiratory irritation and when used can cause cancer and liver damage in the body. The use of Rhodamine B for a long time will cause acute danger if swallowed and cause vomiting which causes irritation of the digestive tract and causes symptoms of poisoning. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of lipstick containing Rhodamine B. The testing method carried out used for qualitative testing is Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and quantitative testing using UV-VIS Spectrophotometry. The results of the lipstick sample were qualitatively proven to contain rhodamine B with a mobile phase and a stationary phase of 70% ethanol: ammonia: ethyl acetate (5:2,5:12,5) and silica gel 254 nm. With an RF value of 0.57. In quantitative testing, rhodamine B levels were found to be 2.598 mg/L. Conclusion lipsticks circulating in the East Banjarmasin sub-district are proven to contain rhodamine B.

Abstract

Gel handsanitizer yang beredar di masyarakat sebagian besar mengandung alkohol. Penggunaan alkohol secara berlebihan dapat memicu iritasi dan rasa terbakar pada kulit. Pada akar purun danau (Lepironia articulata) mengandung flavonoid, tanin dan saponin yang berperan sebagai antimikroba. Penelitian ini bertujuan Mengetahui bahwa ekstrak akar purun danau (Lepironia articulata) dapat diformulasikan ke dalam bentuk sediaan gel handsanitizer dan memenuhi evaluasi sediaan yang baik. Sediaan gel handsanitizer ekstrak akar purun danau dibuat dalam 3 formulasi dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak akar purun danau 3%, 4% dan 5%. Hasil pengamatan yang dilakukan pada sediaan gel handsaniitzer ekstrak akar purun danau pada pengamatan organoleptis didapatkan hasil formula 1 yang baik terhadap tekstur sedangkan warna dan bau 3 formulasi memiliki hasil yang sama. Pada pengamatan homogenitas didapatkan hasil ketiga formulasi homogen. Pada uji pH didapatkan hasil formula 1 memenuhi kriteria. Pada uji bobot jenis didapatkan ketiga formulasi tidak memenuhi kriteria. Pada uji viskositas dan sifat alir didapatkan memiliki sifat pseudoplastis dan tidak memenuhi nilai rentang spesifikasi. Pada uji daya antiseptik memenuhi kriteria. Penelitian ini perlu pengembangan formulasi untuk mendapatkan evaluasi fisik yang optimal.
