Abstract

This paper consists of two researches. A research to identify the microbial composition and density of various types of indigenous microorganisms (IMO) solutions was carried out descriptively. Another research aimed to study the effect of the types of IMO on the growth and yield of peanut was carried out using a randomized block design with three replications and two treatment factors, namely the types of IMO consisting of IMO of tamarillo, pineapple and orange peels, and the dose of chicken manure with the levels of 0, 10, 20 and 30 tons/ha. The IMOs were applied at a concentration of 45 ml/liter, each. The results showed that the IMO of tamarillo, pineapple and orange peels contained different densities of at least six types of microbes, namely: Pseudomonas sp; Azotobacter sp; Bacillus sp; Actinomycetes sp; Streptomyces sp and P (phosphate) solubilizing microbes, but the type of IMO had no significant effect on plant height and stem diameter at 6 WAP as well as the number of filled pods and the yield per plot. The three types of IMO gave the same good effect, as indicated by the production of 197 percent compared to the yield potential of Gajah variety.

Abstract

Introduction: This research was conducted to determine the effect of several types of local microorganism solutions and manures on the growth and yield of peanut and their impact on the physical properties of ultisols. Materials and Methods: The researches was conducted in Simalingkar B, Medan using Factorial Randomized Block Design within three replications. The first factor was types of microbe sources of local microbial solutions, include un-treated waste (M0), pineapple (M1), orange (M2), and tamarillo (M3) wastes. The second factor was manure types, inluce un-treated manure (P0), chicken (P1), cow (P2), and goat (P3) manures. The parameters were: soil physical characteristics (bulk density, water content and total of pore space), plant height, stem diameter, number of pods, and dry seeds yield. Results: The types of local microorganism solutions only affect to plant height of peanut, but has insignificant effect on the physical properties of ultisols, and stem diameter, the number of filled pods.plant-1, and the dry seeds yield.ha-1 of peanut. The types of manure had significantly effected on plant height and number of filled pods.plant-1, but had insignificant effect on stem diameter, dry seeds yield.ha-1 and the physical properties of ultisols. The interaction of MOL sources and manure did not significantly affect the growth and yield of peanut as well as the physical properties of ultisols. Orange MOL and chicken manure could be increase the plant height of peanut by 18.61% and 6.75%, respectively, compared to un-treated. Goat manure showed the highest number of pods.plant-1 by 6.32% compared to un-treated.

Abstract

Eco enzyme merupakan cairan serba guna hasil fermentasi limbah organik rumah tangga terutama buah-buahan dan sayuran. Menggalakkan pembuatan eco enzyme secara tidak langsung akan berkontribusi pada pengurangan emisi gas metana (CH4) ke atmosfir yang akan membantu menurunkan konsentrasi gas rumah kaca dan selanjutnya membantu mitigasi perubahan iklim akibat pemanasan global. Secara langsung, penggunaan eco enzyme akan membantu ekonomi rumah tangga berupa berkurangnya biaya membeli keperluan rumah tangga (bahan pembersih) maupun biaya usahatani melalui penggantian pupuk kimia dan pestisida oleh eco enzyme. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini diselenggarakan di Kelurahan Simalingkar B, Kecamatan Medan Tuntungan, salah satu kawasan pinggiran kota Medan. Tujuan kegiatan meliputi: (i) meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan peserta akan manfaat eco-enzyme dan pembuatannya, (ii) mendorong peserta menggunakan eco-enzyme hasil produksi bersama untuk keperluan pribadi dan rumah tangga dan (iii) memotivasi peserta mengajak tetangga dan kerabat secara bersama-sama memproduksi eco enzyme untuk digunakan di rumah tangga masing-masing. Selain melakukan pre-test dan post-test pada tahap pembuatan dan pemanenan, diakhir kegiatan dilakukan evaluasi. Kegiatan PKM menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan peserta dari nyaris tidak tahu menjadi baik dan sangat baik dengan nilai 71 hingga 89 (rentang nilai 0 – 100). Seluruh peserta puas dengan hasil yang diperoleh setelah menggunakan eco enzyme baik untuk keperluan pribadi, rumah tangga maupun pertanian.
