Abstract

This study aims to describe the governance of the school literacy movement program at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The approach of this study is descriptive qualitative. The data used in this study is the management process of the school literacy movement. The source of data in this study is the document and the process of implementing the school literacy program. The data in this study were collected using the methods of documentation, interviews, and observations. Analysis of the research data using an interactive model. The results of this study indicate that the governance of the literacy movement program in Madrasahs is as follows (1) First, the planning of the school literacy program has been carried out by setting the objectives of the school literacy movement program. However, the planning has not been based on needs analysis (2) the organization of the school literacy program has been carried out by organizing human resources and literacy reading materials. However, the organization carried out has not included every task and responsibility of each manager (3) the implementation of the school literacy movement program has been carried out in accordance with the plan. However, evaluation has not been carried out for each activity implementation and (4) the control carried out is still limited to ensuring that the Saturday reading program is carried out or not. Control to improve the quality of the program has not been carried out. The management of the school literacy movement program needs to be managed properly, starting from the strategic planning process, organizing by providing task descriptions, implementing the program in accordance with strategic planning, and continuous evaluation.

Abstract

Defamation cases found through social media have increased significantly. The government has done restorative justice in handling defamation cases. This study aims to describe formulating a cultural-based mediation. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data of this research was the language used on MY’s Facebook comment and police report regarding the case. An interactive model (data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing) is applied to analyze the data. The findings of this research show that cultural-based mediation may serve as an alternative to solving a defamation case as long as both parties share the same culture. It may be effective if the police have not yet handled the case and a third party who can act neutral and fair is present during mediation. If else, the case will be handled by the police, which can be based on an expert's opinion, the linguists.

Abstract

Language politeness and character education are crucial in the era of education disruption, particularly in terms of learning communication. Problems with language politeness happen when communication is mediated by electronic media, such as WhatsApp in particular, because it allows undergraduates to be more open in conveying their intentions, including to the lecturers regarding the learning goals. This study aims to describe the forms of language politeness during online learning in higher education. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach. The data of this study were utterances consisting of language politeness, and the data sources were undergraduates’ utterances to their lecturer. The data collection techniques were documenting, reading, and note-taking. The data were analyzed through referential identity, extra lingual interactive model, and politeness strategies proposed by Brown and Levinson (1987) and Maricic (2000). Cyberpragmatic perspective perceives the positive politeness strategies with the help of external context, in this case, the virtual learning context, to find out whether there were positive politeness strategies in the utterances. The findings indicate that positive politeness strategies during online learning using cyberpragmatic approach are represented in six forms: paying attention, using identity markers, looking for agreement, avoiding conflict, creating humor, and showing an optimistic attitude. This study recommends that positive politeness strategies can be used as a pillar of developing and strengthening character education in learning, especially in universities.
