Abstract

Listening comprehension plays the most crucial role in building communication skills. However, students always think it is challenging to listening lessons. And the reason is that sometimes they are bored and not interested in the material. In addition, inappropriate methods and techniques may cause students to lack interest and motivation to learn. The author is interested in conducting research with the dictogloss technique to overcome the difficulties faced by students in learning activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning process of listening comprehension and to find out the advantages of the dictogloss technique in class X IPA 1 at MAN Pegasing. This study uses classroom action research, data collection techniques using pre-test and post-test, and questionnaires to determine the advantages of the dictogloss technique. The results of this study indicate that the dictogloss technique effectively improves student achievement in listening comprehension at MAN Pegasasing. Furthermore, the students agreed that the dictogloss technique is one of the exciting techniques and can improve student achievement in listening.

Abstract

Online learning is a learning option that is applied during the COVID-19 pandemic. Online learning has its benefits and challenges, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where almost all learning is done online. The purpose of this article is to map the benefits and challenges of online learning, especially those carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method used is a systematic literature review; there are 12 articles used as data sources after adjusting for inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study results show that many benefits were found for improving online learning in the future and various challenges that must be faced. One of the benefits that need attention is establishing a digital learning environment and using social media in learning. A fundamental challenge is the adaptation of learning technology. Future research is needed to build digital learning environments using social media.

Abstract

Aturan terbaru dalam publikasi di jurnal terakreditasi dan jurnal internasional mengharuskan penulisan citasi dalam artikel dengan memamfaatkan citation & reference manager seperti Mendeley. Mahasiswa dalam pengamatan yang kami lakukan masih menulis citasi dan daftar pustaka dalam karya ilmiah dengan cara manual, kemudian belum mempunyai wawasan memamfaatkan Mendeley. Dampak dari pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini ialah untuk mengangkat bobot karya ilmiah mahasiswa dengan pendekatan kemampuan citasi. Pendekatan yang diterapkan ialah ceramah, praktek, dan tanya jawab. Adapun mitra pada program ini ialah mahasiswa Prodi Bahasa Inggris Semester V IAIN Takengon sebanyak 13 orang. Dampak kegiatan memperlihatkan adanya pemahaman baru dan peningkatan kemampuan peserta dalam mengoperasikan dan membuat kutipan dengan Mendeley, sehingga mahasiswa merasa mudah menulis dan terbangun drajat karya ilmiah.

Abstract

Media informasi dan media sosial bagian dari perkembangan peradapan terkini. Tidak jarang informasi yang tersebar didalamnya merupakan informasi palsu atau hoax. Untuk mendeteteksi keaslian maupun kebenaran photo dan informasi yang didapat di jaringan perlu usaha untuk memverifikasinya dengan baik. PKM ini dilakukan untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada mahasiswa tentang pentingnya cek dan ricek photo dan informasi dalam jaringan dengan aplikasi-aplikasi mesin pencari dan pengenal sumber asal gambar dan informasi. Adapun langkah-langkah PKM ini dengan memberikan pemaparan materi, ceramah, diskusi, dan workshop. Usaha memveripikasi informasi ini dapat dilakukan dengan aplikasi-aplikasi seperti Yandex, TinEye, Google, Duplichecker, Labnol, DuckDuckGo, Startpage, Bing. Setelah pelatihan ini mahasiswa diharapkan bijak dan cerdas dalam menerima informasi, dan lebih lanjut membangun dan meningkatkan kecerdasan literasi digital sebagai agen perubahan dalam peradapan.

Abstract

Mitra dalam program ini adalah mahasiswa bahasa Inggris IAIN Takengon. Adapun persoalan yang mahasiswa hadapi ialah pengetahuan tentang sistem OJS, belum mempunyai dan mengetahui tata cara melakukan submit artikel ilmiah dengan OJS, kemudian rendahnya kapasitas dalam menulis karya ilmiah. Pemecahan yang diberikan adalah dengan melakukan pendampinagan mengenai sistem OJS, prosedur dan tahapan pembuatan akun author di OJS, mendampingi submit artikel di OJS, serta penyampaian trik dan cara penulisan artikel ilmiah. Dari kegiatan ini mahasiswa mampu mengenali OJS, mahasiswa memiliki akun penulis diberbagai jurnal ilmiah berbasis OJS, menguasai tata cara submit artikel di OJS dan proses publikasi sebuah artikel ilmiah, dan mahasiswa meningkat dalam kemampuan menulis.

Abstract

Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi saat ini membawa dampak positif terhadap pendidikan. Pemanfaatan blog di dunia pendidikan merupakan dampak postif kamjuan tersebut. Pengabdian pada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan pembuatan blog pendidikan bagi mahasiswa. Metode pelatihan menggunakan pendekatan teori dan praktek. Teori yang disampaikan terkait dengan manfaat blog pada pendidikan, praktek dilakukan dengan langsung setiap peserta membuat blog pendidikan. Pertemuan dilakukan secara daring dan luring. Secara daring dengan memanfaatkan Google Meet dan grup Whatsapp, secara luring dengan langsung bertatap muka dengan peserta. Peserta yang mengikuti pelatihan ini adalah mahasiswa dari beberapa program studi yang berbeda. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini memberikan banyak manfaat bagi peserta, seperti: bertambahnya pengetahuan terkait dengan blog, peserta mampu membuat blog yang informative dan menarik di sisi tampilan, serta meningkatkan skill peserta. Pada kesempatan mendatang, perlu diadakan pelatihan yang lebih baik dan peserta yang lebih banyak.

Abstract

This research is about lexical cohesion (repetition, synonym, antonym, hyponym, collocation). This study's objectives were: (1) to find the type of LC in the reportage, and opinion column of Jakarta Post News and (2) find the dominant type of LC in the reportage and opinion column of Jakarta Post News. Researchers used library research, while the data sources were the news reports and opinion texts of the Jakarta Post News, which consisted of 30 opinion news and 30 reportage news in edition October. Data analysis used Miles and Huberman's model (reduction, display and verification). The results found synonym 94, repetition 87, antonym 67, hyponym 40, collocation 30. The total LC in the Jakarta Post News is 318. The dominant LC in the Jakarta Post is synonymous with a total of 94 words.

Abstract

The research is the teaching narrative text using team assisted individualization (TAI) method to increase students' writing ability at second years SMPN 31  Takengon. The researcher used quantitative research with experimental design. The second year of SMPN 31 Takengon (VIII1 and VIII2)  as the sample. Technique data analysis in this investigation uses statistics with the score t-test and formulate uses to compare the actual difference between control and experimental samples. The result of the using the team-assisted individualization (TAI) method is increase the students' writing in narrative text. It can be seen from the result of test tobs >  ttable value tobs 2.88 and ttable 1,60 or tobs ? ttable. The team-assisted individualization (TAI) method also helps the students increase imagination and make the students easy to write in narrative text.

Abstract

Understanding culture and language is a communication instrument that is often used in communicating with other people, especially when we speak a foreign language with foreigners. Good communication will be seen when we talk with good words. This study is to know the understanding of 6th and 2nd-semester students regarding cross culture and language. The research used a qualitative descriptive method with an observation and interview approach for 6th and 2nd-semester English Language Study Program students at IAIN Takengon. The results that can be concluded show that students' understanding of cross-cultural language is in a position of knowing enough. Students in semesters 2 and 6 believe that communication is important, culture is important, and language is also essential to learn and understand. Because learning culture, and a foreign language makes it easier to communicate with foreigners, not only easy but allows us to not have any complications with people because of the misunderstanding of other people's cultures.
