Abstract

This research is studying about novel Faraj. The novel contains an overview of the silencing the student movement’s resistance during the capitalist government. This resistance rises due to the cooperation policy between Egypt and the U.S, which impact on intervention of the U.S in Egypt economic and political affairs. The Egyptian students begin, intensively, to discuss these issues, write numerous articles about resistance and criticism of the government, and perform various protests in Cairo. The method of data collecting data in this research consist of two phases, determines the research object and restriction on research problems that focused on an overview of events related to silencing the student movement. The method of data processing consists of determining the relevant theory to answer the problem, searching for references that support the research topic, analyzing the data in accordance with the related theory. The Result of this research indicates the silencing carried out against the anti-capitalist student movement in Egypt. The silencing was conducted through the destruction of the wall magazine, which publish numerous articles about resistance and criticism of the government, arrest, and torture. It happened because of the different interests between the government and the students.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of women in the short stories Madj'u Al-Urus by Khalil Ghibran and Qissatul Fathiyyah Al-Misriyyah by Nawal As-Sa'dawi. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This research is a comparative literature study with the help of feminism theory as the analytical knife. The results of this study are the self-image of women from the physical aspect depicted in the short story Fathiyyah Al-Misriyyah, a woman who has grown up is shown to experience changes in herself, namely biologically, namely being able to get pregnant, give birth and breastfeed. Meanwhile, in the short story Madj'u Al-'Urus, women are described as someone who likes to show off their body shape. In terms of the psychological aspect, women are weak figures, they experience acts of violence that make them look like crazy people. Meanwhile, Kahlil Gibran did not explain in detail the consequences of the violence he experienced. Based on the social aspect, women equally get help from other people.

Abstract

This research is an interdisciplinary study involving the fields of literature and political science on musical collaboration entitled Il?hu ats-Tsaurah. This paper uncovers the relationship between the musical collaboration and geopolitical issues and the worldviews of the musicians involved in the conflict. This research will use the theory of Genetic Structuralism to dissect the contents of the lyrics in the Il?hu ats-Tsaurah music collaboration. The results of the study show that the geopolitical issue of the Middle East is one of the factors causing the prolonged conflict and the world view of the musicians shows their disappointment as an Arab nation which is now increasingly divided due to differences in race, religion, and country. Through this musical collaboration, the musicians also urge the Arabs to unite and not just be silent when they find out that their brothers are being oppressed.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to reveal the lexical meanings of the words baligha, sadida, karima, ma'rufa, layyina, and maisura, which are contained in polite language phrases in the Quran: qaulan baligha, qaulan sadida, qaulan karima, qaulan ma'rufa, qaulan layyina, and qaulan maisura. The importance of revealing the lexical semantics is in order to find the right meaning of the phrases. The method used is descriptive-qualitative method with a paradigmatic approach and lexical meaning theory. The results showed that the term baligha has six meaning features, the word sadida has five meaning features, the word karima has twelve meaning features, the word ma'rufa has eight meaning features, the word layyina has seven meaning features, and the word maisura has six meaning features. From the perspective of the paradigmatic relation, the phrases qaulan baligha, qaulan sadida, qaulan karima, qaulan ma'rufa, qaulan layyina, and qaulan maisura are hyponyms in politeness of the Quran language.
