Abstract

The potential of Mount Ireng is not only a beautiful romance on the face of the earth, butalso the geological peculiarity of the facies of ancient volcanic centers based on the volcanic and volcanic rocks spread over 7 (seven) clusters in the form of andesitic blocky lava, andesitic lava, massive andesitic lava and basaltic andesite lava cushions scattered in 7 (seven) clusters in the form of blocky andesitic lava, andesitic lava, massive andesitic lava and basaltic andesite lava cushions spread over 7 (seven) clusters in the form of blocky andesitic lava, andesitic lava lava, massive andesitic lava andesite dike with the presence of pyrite and sulfur minerals which are carried by andesitic breccias and agglomerates, besides being supported by tourism potential as the location of the best sunrise in Yogyakarta. This became the foundation taken by the Gunung Ireng Geotourism Academic Advisory Team from IST AKPRIND Yogyakarta in the form of submission of Mount Ireng to a Geological Nature Reserve (KCAG) in order to increase the development of sustainable community-based geotourism management concepts.Verification is carried out through geological observations by exploring 7 (seven) clusters from the top to the foot of Mount Ireng to verify 53 Assessment Matrices including Criteria, Comparisons, Classifications (Scientific Values, Education and Tourism), Threat of Damage / Risk of Degradationand Utilization Recommendations. Hope is Mount Ireng, in the Srumbung Hamlet, Pengkok Village, Patuk Subdistrict, Gunung Kidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, which is believed to be the Ancient Volcanic Center Faces can become a Geological Nature Reserve Area (KCAG).

Abstract

Abstract

This scientific article presents the development and implementation of a community engagement project centered around the creation of "Prehistoric Rain Cookies." The project was undertaken in Desa Lempong, Kecamatan Jenawi, Kabupaten Karanganyar, Provinsi Jawa Tengah, situated in the vicinity of Mount Lawu, Indonesia. The primary goals of the project were twofold: first, to incorporate geological inspiration from ancient volcanic rock formations into culinary art, specifically in the form of unique cookies; and second, to foster geotourism combined with ecotourism as a means of empowering the local community socially, culturally, and economically. Through a series of direct interviews with the Lempong community, the most sought-after products by tourists visiting Mount Lawu were identified. Subsequently, the selected product, "Prehistoric Rain Cookies," was developed to resemble the accretionary lapilli rock formations found in the area. The cookies were packaged in two distinct shapes to resemble the original rock formations further. Legal procedures were followed, including copyright registration, to ensure the protection of the cookie creation. The project concluded with the handover of the cookies to the Lempong Village authorities, aiming to inspire local innovation, enhance cultural and economic growth through ecotourism, and serve as a geological educational tool for visitors to Mount Lawu. The implications of this project highlight the potential for incorporating scientific research findings into culinary creations to promote local empowerment and stimulate geotourism initiatives. Highlight: Geological-inspired culinary art: The creation of "Cookies Hujan Purba" embodies the desire to incorporate inspiration from natural rock formations into culinary creations, showcasing the fusion of geology and gastronomy. Geotourism and ecotourism synergy: The project aims to promote geotourism and ecotourism in the Lempong Village, offering educational experiences to visitors while supporting socio-cultural and economic empowerment within the local community. Socio-cultural and economic empowerment: By developing and marketing the Prehistoric Rain Cookies, the project seeks to empower the local community socially and economically, fostering pride in their cultural heritage and creating opportunities for sustainable growth. Abstract

This scientific article explores the creation of Breadcrust Bomb Merapi, a culinary art inspired by the geological features of Mount Merapi in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The study aims to promote socio-cultural empowerment and geology education while supporting local communities surrounding Mount Merapi. The research methodology involved direct interviews with residents of the South Slope of Mount Merapi to identify the most popular products among tourists and the feasibility of their development. The selection process led to the production of Breadcrust Bomb Merapi, a cake resembling the explosive eruptions of Merapi, featuring a crust-like texture with a soft interior filled with melted cheese, symbolizing hot lava. The legal aspects of the creation were ensured through copyright registration. The results demonstrate the successful integration of geological inspiration into culinary art, providing a unique Merapi culinary experience for visitors and offering socio-cultural and economic opportunities for the local community. The implication of this study lies in its contribution to geotourism, ecotourism, and the preservation of local cultural heritage while fostering socio-economic development in the Merapi region.
