Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the using picture series in teaching writing skill for the fourth semester students of midwifery program in STIKES Bhakti Husada Mulia Madiun. This study was done on May 2020. The subjects were 32 students of the fourth semester students of midwifery program of STIKES Bhakti Husada Mulia Madiun in the academic year 2020/2021. The method used in this research was a qualitative descriptive research design. The techniques for collecting data were observation, interview, and documentation. During the research, the researcher acted as the teacher and observer during the implementation of picture series. The findings of observation show that there is good interaction between lecturer and students. The lecturer gives the task and assignment to make the students understand the material well. The finding of interview shows that by using picture series, the students can have the ideas how to start writing recount text well. They can arrange the picture series to help them in composing the writing. By using picture series the students can improve their writing based on the criteria asked by the lecturers. The criteria of the writing are vocabulary, content, language, mechanic and organization. The finding of documentation shows that the use of picture series in teaching writing recount text make the students interested. Thus, the learning process is supported that the students are better to write from their experiences to compose recount text. Then, the use of picture series is effectively used in helping students improve their performance in writing recount text. The future researcher can conduct the use of picture series in other skill of English such as on speaking skill. It is hoped can be used as the easy media to express the students’ creativity in their speaking. Furthermore, the researcher can do this study by using the other design such as the experimental research design in teaching English writing skill.

Abstract

Thus, the learning process is supported that the students are better to write from the results of their experiences to compose recount text. Thus, the use of picture series is effectively used in helping students’ improve their performance in writing recount text. The future researcher can conduct the use of picture series in other skill of English such as on speaking skill.  Furthermore, the researcher can do this study by using the other design such as the experimental research design to find better media in teaching English writing skill.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat ini bertujuan memberikan pelayanan kesehatan berupa penyuluhan dan edukasi  untuk menjaga kesehatan diri agar terhindar dari bahaya hepatitis akut yang saat ini banyak menyerang pada usia anak anak . Kususnya anak anak di Panti Asuhan Insan Berseri Maospati Magetan.            Dan untuk kegiatan pengabdian  masyarakat ini  antara lain memberikan sosialisasi dan penyuluhan tentang perilaku hidup sehat dan bersih dan menjaga  kesehatan.  Latar belakang kami mengadakan  pencegahan hepatitis akut melalui sosialisasi dan edukasi PHBS di Panti Asuhan Insan Berseri Maospati Magetan  dikarenakan anak anak menjadi perhatian penting akan  maraknya sebaran hepatitis akut ini. Dan dengan membiasakan diri hidup bersih dan sehat sejak dini merupakan bentuk pencegahan yang mudah untuk dilakukan terutama di usia anak anak.  Wabah hepatitis akut ini sudah terjadi di beberapa daerah jawa timur.. untuk itu diperlukan pencegahan sejak dini  . Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di yayasan Panti Asuhan Insan Berseri Maospati Magetan. Sampel dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah anak anak di yayasan  Panti Asuhan Insan Berseri Maospati dengan jumlah sebanyak 34 anak. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal  28 Mei 2022. Dari hasil kegiatan penyuluhan dan edukasi pola hidup bersih dan sehat guna pencegahan Hepatitis akut, ternyata masih banyak anak anak yang belum tau apa itu hepatitis dan bagaimana cara pencegahannya dan juga cara menjaga kesehatan. Dan dengan adanya kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini akhirnya anak anak menjadi lebih  paham dan  mengerti tentang penyakit hepatitis, bagaimana cara menjaga pola hidup bersih dan sehat agar terhindar dari hepatitis akut. Karena dengan membiasakan pola hidup bersih , badan akan  menjadi sehat,pikiran akan menjadi jernih dan akan mudah untuk belajar baik di lingkungan sekolah maupun di lingkungan yayaan panti asuhan insan berseri maospati magetan.Kata kunci : pola hidup sehat dan bersih, panti asuhan , pengetahuan, tindakan

Abstract

Some English learners might be very good at grammar English but not optimal in writing English, and vice versa. As fellow productive language skills, researching the relationship between grammar and writing skills will be very interesting. The aim of this research was to find out the correlation between mastery on the simple present tense and writing descriptive paragraph. The method that was used in this research was a quantitative research .In this research, the researcher used the subject were 42 students of the First semester Medical Record Program of STIKES Bhakti Husada Mulia Madiun in the academic year 2021/2022. There are Simple present tense and writing descriptive paragraph test were used as the instrument for collecting the data of this research. Pearson’s Product Moment Formula was used to correlate both mastery on simple present tense (variable X) and the ability in writing descriptive text (variable Y). The result showed that there was a statistically significant correlation (0.756) is higher than the r value of significant level at 5 % (0.304). Theoretically, Null Hypothesis (Ho)is rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The suggestion are: the students should improve their mastery on simple present tense because it can improve their ability in expressing activities in writing.
