Abstract

The increasing of metabolic disease due to the over consumption throughout the world become a challenge for the development of functional food that rich in nutrition and also can provide health benefit for human consumption.  The objective of this research is to found the possibility of using some typical foodstuffs from North Sulawesi, i.e pisang goroho (Musa acuminate), sweet potato (Ipomeae batatas), palm sugar and coconut water, as a medium for Aspergillus niger growth in order to produce fructooligosaccharide (FOS), a functional food.  This research was done by laboratory experiment for the growing test of Aspergillus niger in 5 mediums with 4 replications.  Statistical analysis of the results shown that the Aspergillus niger tend to grow in 4 of 5 mediums which indicate the possibility of fructooligosaccharide production in those medium.  Further studies are needed in order to know the amount production of fructooligossaccharide based on its medium.

Abstract

The development of functional food today mainly focuses on founding food that rich in nutrition and also provide health benefit for human consumption. At this point the combination of prebiotic and probiotic food that refer to food with health benefit to help digestible function become increasing. This research was done by literature study and laboratory experiment with 5 medium and 4 replications in order to found the possibility to produce fructooligosaccharide from Aspergillus niger fermentation in some typical foodstuffs from North Sulawesi i.e pisang goroho (Musa acuminate), sweet potato (Ipomeae batatas), coconut water, and palm sugar. Statistical analysis of the results shown that the Aspergillus niger tend to grow in 4 of 5 medium which indicate the possibility of fructooligosaccharide in those medium. Further studies are needed in order to know the production of fructooligossaccharide based on its medium.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to measure the levels of protein, fat, fiber, carbohydrates, water and ash, in jumpy flour from pumpkin. Pumpkin strands are part of the pumpkin fruit where the pumpkin seeds are attached to the inside of the fruit flesh. In processing pumpkin as a food, strands often used as waste or waste and is considered as a fruit that is not useful. Pumpkin plants as a minor food commodity, it turns out, are very rich in bioactive compounds which act as anti-oxidants which are very useful for human health, including spikes that have not been maximized until now due to the lack of scientific information on nutrient content and bioactive compounds in pumpkin fruit jots. This research was carried out using laboratory analysis methods with the following stages, determination and sampling, sample preparation, protein content analysis of the gunning method, fat content, fiber content, carbohydrate content and water and ash content by oven drying method. The results of the study showed that jumpy flour from pumpkin had protein content of 1.09%, fat of 5.15%, fiber of 1.27%, carbohydrate of 73.38%, water of 14.68% and ash of 4.45%. The results of this study concluded that pumpkin fruit pumpkin flour can be used as food fortification material to increase nutritional value.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the application of the RGB-Colormeter application in smartphone-based practicum in online learning. This research was conducted in February-March in the third semester of chemistry education, FMIPA UNIMA. This research was conducted at the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA UNIMA in the 2020/2021 academic year. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Twenty-two third semester students were selected to be selected as research samples. The data was collected by using a test in the form of essay questions as many as 12 questions about spectrophotometry material. The data collection technique uses practical results. The results of the practicum obtained show that the use of practicum using the RGB-Colormeter application can be used as an alternative method in learning the concept of spectrophotometry during a pandemic and has an effect on students' understanding that is awakened. Based on these results, it can be stated that the practicum method with the RGB-Colormeter application is suitable for use, especially during the pandemic.

Abstract

Chemistry is a science that studies materials that are generally abstract in nature so many students find it difficult to understand the concept of chemistry which causes a lack of interaction between real life and chemical knowledge. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the REACT strategy in improving student learning outcomes in buffering material at SMA Negeri 2 Langowan. The research method used is Quasi Experiment Design with research design is Posttest-only Control Group Design. The population is all students of class XI Science in SMA Negeri 2 Langowan even semester 2017/2018. The sample of this study were all students of class XI IPA 1, amounting to 25 people as the experimental class and all students of class XI IPA 2, amounting to 21 people as the control class. Data collected is processed from the results of Posttest. Data were analyzed using the Independent t-test formula to test the research hypotheses and obtained tcount> ttable (7.99> 2.02), so it can be concluded that the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning method with REACT strategy proved to be effective against improving student learning outcomes in buffer material in class XI IPA of SMA Negeri 2 Langowan.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian model pembelajaran langsung pada siswa SMA Negeri 2 Tondano di semester genap tahun ajaran 2018/2019 bulan Januari-Februari 2019. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan model pembelajaran langsung dengan sikap siswa dan peningkatan prestasi belajar siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit dan nonelektrolit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one group pretest-posttest design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X IPA SMA Negeri 2 Tondano. Pengujian validitas instrumen soal diperoleh 10 soal yang valid dan 2 soal tidak valid, sedangkan pengujian reliabilitas instrumen soal diperoleh koefisien reliabilitas 0,785. Pengujian distribusi sikap positif siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan diperoleh hasil bahwa sikap positif siswa tentang pembelajaran kimia meningkat. Berdasarkan hasil presentase selisih diatas menunjukkan bahwa sikap siswa dan prestasi belajar siswa mengalami kenaikan atau peningkatan.Hasil uji normalitas menunjukkan Lhitung<Ltabel untuk kelas eksperimen (0,10< 0,17) sehingga data berdistribusi normal. Maka dapat dilakukan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment diperoleh nilai rxy = 0,602, selanjutnya uji signifikan nilai korelasi r kedalam nilai t dengan kriteria pengujian thitung > ttabel. Dari hasil perhitungan bahwa thitung (3.62) ttabel (2,06). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara model pembelajaran langsung dengan sikap siswa dan prestasi belajar siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit dan nonelektrolit.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there are differences in the average student learning outcomes taught with the Inquiry Training learning model and the Group Investigation learning model on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution material. This research was conducted at SWADHARMA WERDHI AGUNG High School in second semester of 2017/2018. The research method used is the experimental method. Sampling is done by random sampling technique. The sample in this study was class XA students as experimental class I and class XB as experimental class II. Each sample amounted to 20 respondents, and the total number of respondents was 40. Data collection techniques were pretest and posstest and the instruments used to measure learning outcomes were multiple choice tests. Analysis of the posttest data of the two groups used the t test. The results of the research obtained were tcount of 2,233 and t table at a significant level of 0,05 of 2,024, then tcount> ttable. Then H0is rejected and H1is accepted. Thus it was concluded that there were differences in the average learning outcomes of students taught using the Inquiry Training learning model and the Group Investigation learning model.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine student learning outcomes with the application of the probing prompt learning model supported by multimedia, to determine the interaction of students in learning and the relationship between the model and learning media with the material. The research design used is a pre-experimental design where the research uses only one class (experimental class) without any comparison class or control class. Data collection was done by giving a pretest before the learning process was carried out, and a posttest after the learning process. The research data obtained in the form of the difference in the average value of the pretest and posttest, the average value of the pretest is 31.57% and the average value of the posttest is 84.20%. Furthermore, the analysis of learning outcomes on colloidal material also shows an increase, in terms of the N-Gain analysis obtained 0.76 with high criteria and hypothesis testing which shows that t-hitung > t-tabel which means that the probing prompting learning model is supported by multimedia providing improvement of student learning outcomes.
