Abstract

The gaps in student competence with industrial demands make graduates of vocational high schools not widely absorbed in the workforce. This study aims to enhance the ability of vocational teachers in compiling indicators of competency using a lesson plan guidelines based on a learning models. The study was conducted with a qualitative approach through the action research method. The participants involved in this study came from three vocational schools in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The informants involved in this study were six male teachers, having more than five years of work experience and teaching productive subjects. Data collection by Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to obtain general information and individual interviews to obtain more specific data. After the data is documented and evaluated, then proceed with guiding respondents to develop indicators of competence using the lesson plan guidelines. The results of the research are expected to increase the ability of teachers to compile indicators of competence through the guidance of the lesson plan based on a learning models. So that this research will have implications for the achievement of student competencies in accordance with the demands of the job/industry.

Abstract

This research aims to develop autodesk inventor-based multimedia that was designed to increase students generic science skill on the application of relative velocity at kinematics and dynamics courses. This study used the mini course method developed by Borg and Gall, including the stage of analysing and planning, developing early product, and validating from the expert and revision the early product. Based on the analysis conducted, it was revealed that there were five indicators that students had difficulties with, including illustrating kinematic diagram, illustrating velocity direction, calculating absolute velocity, illustrating velocity polygon, and calculating velocity based on velocity polygon. Those five indicators were related to six generic science aspects, including modelling, symbolic language, laws of causality, logical consistency, scale awareness, and observation. The developed multimedia consists of nine displays of slider-crank mechanism and eight displays of four-bar mechanisms, using .idw, .iam, and .mp4 formats and has been validated by material and media experts. Based on the judgment from the experts, the inventor-based multimedia was worthy to be applied in the course.

Abstract

Online learning as a concept certainly has several variables, one of which is student learning motivation. This study aims to determine how much influence caused by online learning via WhatsApp on students' learning motivation and to find out whether online learning has a significant effect and has a positive or negative relationship on students' learning motivation. The author raised the topic of this study after conducting a survey to 15 students and seeing the facts in the form of learning outcomes which indicated a lack of student motivation in online learning. The design of this study used a mix method approach. Data collection techniques use a questionnaire, observation, interview and data analysis using simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that online learning via WhatsApp had a significant influence and had a positive relationship on students' learning motivation, as well as an influence of 55,7% on students' learning motivation, 60.6% on students' desire to carry out learning activities, 30.4% on students' interest in learning activities, 25.7% on encouragement of students to carry out learning activities, 15.2% of the needs of students to carry out learning activities, 8.2% of the students' expectations to achieve their goals, 17.6% of students' desire to achieve their goals, 28.8% of self respect, 18.7% to the attractiveness of learning activities, by 28.3% to the conduciveness of the learning environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by students’ difficulties in understanding abstract, complex, and dynamic concepts in the learning process of the Engineering Materials course. The course is very important because it is indispensable for advanced study program expertise courses. The purpose of the research is to analyze the impact of using the e-book Multimedia Animation (e-MMA) in the learning process of engineering materials courses on improving students’ learning outcomes in the crystal structure subject. The research used an experimental method with a randomized control group pretest-posttest design. Two groups were assessed from two classes in Engineering Department randomly selected as the research sample. The subject that becomes the focus of this study is Crystal Structure to understand Concept Mastery and Problem-solving aspects. Thus, there will be two competency data from the research results. The application of e-MMA in the learning process of engineering materials can improve student learning outcomes with an increase in the high category N-gain. The E-MMA is very effective in solving the problems of students in understanding crystal structure subject in engineering materials courses because of their ability to provide images and animations of abstract objects. Students can easily understand the concepts and formulas that exist in the crystal structure subject of engineering materials course

Abstract

The development of the PTC Creo Parametic website-based learning module for basic modeling work aims to facilitate DPTM UPI students in developing basic parametric modeling skills. The method used is Research Development (RD) with a qualitative approach. In order for the development flow to be directed, the process of developing this learning module uses the Hannafin and Peck development model. The research instrument for module testing used questionnaires, interviews, and observations to find out how the DPTM UPI students responded. This research produced a website-based PTC Creo Parametric learning module for basic parametric modeling work that can facilitate DPTM UPI students and get positive responses from DPTM UPI students. In addition, learning modules provide benefits for users because they are supported by a website-based multitopic scheme, so users can easily access learning materials.
