Abstract

A sculptor named I Made Ada that comes from Pakuduwi village, Tegallalang, Gianyar, Bali and his work of garuda statues have been recognized worlwide. His works are spread all over the world. It causes fear that history will be repeated again. That is a claim from our neighboring country about our origins’ culture. The journey of I Made Ada the sculptor is worth to be documented as an autobiography that contains and tells every authentic data in detail and also so that Indonesian people may know about I Made Ada’s existence. The method used to collect all the needed data are observation, interview, and documentation. The making of an autobiography can create an understanding that this is one of Indonesian richness cultures that need to be kept and preserved. Furthermore, this book is presented as an authentic proof that can facilitate in managing patents and legality rights processes on intellectual properties. This autobiography book is designed by combining modern with traditional impressions and supported by photography, information resources, and other attractive interests.

Abstract

Nilai-nilai dari warna tradisional Bali adalah salah satu budaya Bali yang harus terus diperkenalkan dan diturunkan dari generasi ke generasi. Nilai-nilai ini yang harus terus dipelajari oleh generasi muda, bukan hanya menjalaninya saja namun juga memahami. Pemahaman ini menjadi penting karena terkait kelestarian nilai tersebut terhadap kemajuan jaman yang terus berubah. Banyak sekali informasi yang masuk dan berkembang di Bali. Kemajuan ini juga berpengaruh dengan bergabungnya kebudayaan luar yang beradaptasi dengan kebudayaan Bali sendiri. Hal ini membuat suatu ketakutan bahwa dalam perkembangannya generasi muda menjadi tidak bisa menyaring dengan benar seluruh informasi yang masuk dan malah mengesampingkan kelokalan dari latar belakang generasi muda sendiri yaitu Bali. Dengan adanya kenyataan bahwa, sebenarnya masyarakat Bali dalam hal ini khususnya generasi muda mengetahui bahwa warna-warna tersebut adalah hal yang sangat identik terhadap lingkungannya. Namun, pengetahuan ini tidak disertai dengan pemahaman yang penuh terhadap nilai-nilai yang terkandung di dalamnya dan juga kurangnya sarana pendukungnya. Pentingnya pengetahuan mengenai nilai-nilai luhur yang tersembunyi di balik warna-warna tradisional Bali bagi generasi penerusnya dan juga bagi keberadaannya sebagai warisan budaya yang harus tetap eksis, merupakan dasar dalam melakukan penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua tahap metode, diawali dengan metode penelitian menggunakan metode kajian budaya untuk mencari data-data mengenai nilai dari warna tradisional Bali. Metode yang dipakai untuk melakukan perancangan adalah metode eksperimen berdasarkan proses membuat buku yang terdiri dari proses edit buku, proses desain buku dan proses produksi buku

Abstract

The use of color that occurs in some cultures is seen in Balinese, Javanese, and Minangkabau cultures, as well as a few places around the island. These colors state their respective regions, making them the region’s traditional color. These colors must intersect with the culture of origin of each area. In the process, each region and its culture each has a set of media in demonstrating their color richness. Be it in the form of traditional arts, such as puppet, or dance with the beauty of the clothes, they give the hallmark of their respective regions. Likewise, art from Bali which appears identical to the results of their work is beautiful, interesting and very attractive. Based on this development, then how is the position of the traditional colors in this modern era, especially in Bali? How is the position of the traditional colors in the eyes of some Balinese artists to books which the contents are about themselves? This problem is seen through an interpretation by referring to existing theories of the books that perpetuate each artist’s work and themselves at work.
