Abstract

Public open space is increasingly needed, particularly for urban residents for social interaction. Urban development often ignores the needs of open space for the public to interact and socialize. Types of public open space which is increasingly built in the regions in Indonesia are pedestrian and the city park. The function of public open space in the form of the pedestrian from time to time through a transformation, not only as paths for walking and social interaction space as well as to facilitate economic activities, but the function of pedestrian started to transform to increase attractiveness of the surrounding area. The method that has been used is holistic-single case study with a qualitative approach to find out what functions pedestrian park in District Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. The results showed pedestrian park in the district of Tenggarong has function as (1) social interaction space; (2) space for economic activities; and (3) public spaces are transformed to revive the unproductive areas around the track is raised the attractiveness of Kumala Island. Transformation functions of pedestrian park in Tenggarong was caused due to the presence of objects in the surrounding area and development policies. Keywords: public open space, pedestrian, transformation, Tenggarong District

Abstract

Background: There are no data of efficacy comparison between primary systemic therapy in stage 3B and 4 breast cancer patients in Indonesia. This study compared long term outcomes of breast cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant hormonal therapy (NAHT) and those treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT)Methods: This was a cohort study conducted from 2011 to 2017. A total of 122 patients with stage 3B and 4 breast cancer received NAHT (n = 62) or NACT (n = 60) within a 6 cycles for NACT and 6 months for NAHT were included. Patients were excluded if they had a mastectomy before treatment, were pregnant, had been given hormonal therapy or chemotherapy before, had a contra-indication of chemotherapy, had a contra-indication of salpingo-oophorectomy bilateral for premenopausal patients, and declined to enter this study. The primary outcome of this study was overall survival. The outcomes were analysed using Kaplan-Meier for survival analysis and cox proportional hazard regression to estimate the hazard ratio. Results: There was a statistically significant difference in overall survival (p = 0.038). Median overall survival for NAHT patients was 1265 days and for NACT patients was 654 days. The hazard ratio showed NACT patients had a higher risk than NAHT patients (1.7 95% CI 1.03 – 2.9). Pathological complete response rate was higher in the NACT group than in the NAHT group (3.3% vs. 0%).Conclusions: Neoadjuvant hormonal therapy was superior to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in term of overall survival.

Abstract

Physics learning aims to make students have a scientific attitude, master the concepts of        science, and understand phenomena that occur in everyday life. Learning physics by applying the STEM approach can improve the skills needed by students. The STEM approach can train students to be able to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in learning physics. The     implementation of the STEM approach in learning physics can be supported by the existence of    teaching materials that are appropriate to the needs and characteristics of students. One form of teaching material that can support independent learning is student books. However, there are still student books that have not fully facilitated the implementation of the STEM approach in learning physics. This study aims to analyze the needs of student books based on the STEM approach in    learning physics. This research is a descriptive study conducted through observation at senior high school (SMA N 4 Padang) with a sample of research is students of 11th grade. Analysis of student book needs based on the STEM approach, including student analysis, analysis of learning activities,      analysis of graduate competency standards, and assessment analysis. The instruments used in this study were in the form of questionnaires and interview sheets. The results showed that the analysis of learners obtained an average value of 67.54, analysis of learning activities obtained an average value of 72.91, analysis of graduate competency standards obtained an average value of 74.60 and analysis of the assessment obtained an average value of 84,24. Therefore, it is necessary to develop physics teaching materials in the form of student books based on the STEM approach
