Abstract

Mental disorders is one of the health problems in developing countries and developed countries. One of the biggest problems faced by those with mental disorders is the presence of that and negative attitudes due to lack of public knowledge. Several previous studies have found that education increase knowledge and change the stigma and negative attitudes on medical students. The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences of knowledge, stigma and attitude between first year and final year student of the Medical Faculty of Jember University toward mental disorders. This research was a quantitative research with cross sectional approach. The samples were the students class of 2012 and 2014. The independent variable was the class of the students, while the dependent variable was knowledge, stigma, authoritarianism, benevolence, social restrictions, and istatistik of health community. The data was analyzed using chi-square test. Based on the test result, it was found that the variables with a significant difference is stigma (p= 0.001) and authoritarianism (p = 0.025). In conclusion there were significant differences on stigma and attitudes of authoritarianism between the first year and final year students to the mental disorders. Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) to described the science learning outcomes of students who take convensional model; 2) to described the science learning outcomes of students who take examples non examples model; 3)to determine the science learning outcomes differences between students who were thaught by used examples non examples model and convensional learning model in fifth garde elementary school students in cluster II Kubutambahan district Buleleng regency 2016/2017 school year. The research was a quasi-experiment. The population was fifth garde in cluster II Kubutambahan district. The samples of this research were fifth garde in SD Negeri 3 Kubutamabahan were 23 students and SD Negeri 5 Kubutambahan were 27 students. The instrument of this research in test instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistic and inferensial statistic (t-test). The results showed that a description of the result of science learning in the experimental group scores tend to be high then of the students in control group is 21,11 > 17,35. By using t-test obtained t-count is bigger than t-table (tcount = 4,302 > ttable = 2,021). It means that there are significant differences of students science learning outcomes among the group of students that learned with Examples Non Examples learning model and group of students that learned by convensional learning models. So, it can be concluded that learning with Examples Non Examples learning models has a positive effect on improving science learning outcomes students.keyword : science learning outcomes, examples non examples models, convensional models

Abstract

The objective of the study was to determine effects of 3 x 15 ml/day Virgin Coconut Oil supplementation for 6 weeks in subject to CD4+ T lymphocyte concentration and conducted at Special health center on Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Jakarta. The methods involved experimental study with parallel design on 40 HIV subject with CD4+ T lymphocyte count > 200 cell/µL divided into two groups, VCO group, subject in this group received VCO supplementation 3 x 15 ml/day for 6 weeks and non-VCO Group (without VCO supplementation). Data collected includes demographic characteristic (age and sex), anthropometric (weight, height, and body mass index), daily intakes by food recall 1 x 24 hours and laboratory (CD4+ T lymphocyte count). Statistical analysis was performed with independent t test and Mann-Whitney U test. The results could be summarised as follows. The average BMI were 20.8 ± 2.29 kgs/sqm (VCO group) and 20.7 ± 3.38 kgs/sqm (non-VCO group). Energy and fat intake between VCO group (1459 ± 327.4 Cal/day and 81.8 ± 19.35 gs/day) and non-VCO group (1101 ± 319.8 Cal/day and 37.1 ± 19.35 gs/day). Carbohydrate and protein intake between VCO group (143.8 ± 44.58 gs/day and 41.6 ± 14.04 gs/day) and non-VCO group (151.6 ± 14.04 gs/day and 39.5 ± 18.31gs/day). There were significant differences (p = 0.047) in average of CD4+ T lymphocyte count after 6 weeks intervention between VCO group (481 ± 210.0 cell/µL) and non-VCO group (343 ± 129.1 cell/µL). The conclusion is that Virgin Coconut Oil supplementation 3 x 15 ml/day for 6 weeks increases CD4+ T lymphocyte concentration in HIV patient.

Abstract

HIGHLIGHTS1. This retrospective cohort study found an increase in the diagnosis of malnutrition between the IMT method and NRI.2. A significant correlation was found between preoperative malnutrition and the incidence of anaemia after adjuvant chemotherapy for ovarian cancer patients.3. There were no significant correlations in this study in the incidence of leukopenia and thrombocytopenia.ABSTRACTObjectives: To observe correlation of nutritional status using Nutritional Risk Index with the side effects of adjunctive haematological chemotherapy.Materials and Methods: This study was a retrospective cohort study observing whether or not hematologic side effects occurred during chemotherapy based on medical records of postoperative ovarian cancer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy. Results: Sixty-eight subjects with age range of 31-50 years (44.1%) multipara (68.8%), and advanced stage (52.1%) were observed. An increase was found in the diagnosis of malnutrition between the IMT method and NRI, which was 18.7% compared to 43.7%. A significant correlation was found between preoperative malnutrition and the incidence of anaemia after adjuvant chemotherapy for ovarian cancer patients (p=0.002). Whereas, in the event of leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, there were no significant correlations with p=0.675 and p=0.415, respectively. Conclusion: There was an increase in malnutrition rate with the use of NRI compared with BMI and there was a significant correlation between malnutrition and side effects of anaemia in patients with ovarian cancer who underwent surgery and continued with adjuvant chemotherapy.
