Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan suatu proses generasi muda untuk dapat menjalankan kehidupan dan memenuhi tujuan hidupnya secara lebih efektif dan efisien. Pendidikan lebih daripada pengajaran, karena pengajaran sebagai suatu proses transfer ilmu belaka, sedang pendidikan merupakan transformasi nilai dan pembentukan kepribadian dengan segala aspek yang dicakupnya. Perbedaan pendidikan dan pengajaran terletak pada penekanan pendidikan terhadap pembentukan kesadaran dan kepribadian anak didik di samping transfer ilmu dan keahlian. Hal inilah yang membedakan antara Islam dengan Barat. Al-Quran merupakan petunjuk buat umat manusia. Petunjuk tidak hanya berkaitan dengan syariat agama tetapi berkaitan pula dengan ayat-ayat kauniyah yang erat sekali dengan ilmu pengetahuan. Al-Quran juga mengungkap tentang asal mula kehidupan, siklus air, peredaran benda-benda langit, astronomi dll yang dapat menginspirasi perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan alam dan sains. Bahkan matematikapun banyak terdapat dalam ayat-ayat Al-Quran. Penciptaan alam semesta ini melalui perhitungan yang sangat detail oleh Allah SWT. Sehingga, sebenarnya Allah telah menurunkan matematika melalui ayat-ayat Al-Quran, namun kebanyakan manusia tidak menyadarinya. Demikian pula sebaliknya apakah dalam matematika memuat pula sifat-sifat agamis yang dapat menjadi karakter kepribadian manusia dalam hidup sehari-hari.

Abstract

This article aims to see the improvement of students' mathematics learning outcomes by using the talking stick teaching model. The type of research used is classroom action research designed two cycles in accordance with the achievement of indicators. The subjects are all students of class VIII Madrasah Tsanawiyah No 32 Lamasi Kecamatan Lamasi Kabupaten Luwu, amounting to 21 people. The instruments used were test and observation. Before treatment, the average student's learning outcomes of 50.95. If associated with the indicator of success is 70, then the student is not yet complete in learning mathematics. This is also an indication that there is a problem in learning mathematics in that class. After the applied model of talking stick, the average value of students increased in cycle I to 65.23 but there are still 11 students who have not completed. The study then continued to cycle II and the average of mathematics learning outcomes increased to 80.38 with 17 students already completed or 80.95%. If it is associated with the indicator where the research is said to be successful if the students who get a minimum score of 70 amounted to at least 80% then this research has been successful and stopped until the second cycle. Student and teacher activity also showed positive results. From the observation seen there is improvement of mental attitude of student in expressing its opinion from 57,1% student increase to 85,7%. The same for student responses in answering teacher questions increased from 52.3% to 90.4%. Teacher activity increased slightly from 50.0% to 50.84%. Of all the results it is clear that the learning model of talking stick can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is quantitative correlations designed ex-post facto. The population is all students of mathematics department from 2012/2013 until 2014/2015 IAIN Palopo totaling 291 people. The sampling technique used was proportional random sampling with a sample of 73 students. The collection data using by documentation and test. The result showed that: (1). The overview of the literacy al - Quran is 53 students from 73 have a very high ability (72,5%). This means that the literacy Quran students in terms of known/recognize letters hijaiyah, able to read the Quran and write some verses in the Quran have been classified as very good. (2). The mathematical ability is 50 students from 73 have a very high ability (68,5%). Thin means that that the ability of students in terms of reasoning, inductive reasoning, comprehension, problem solving, connections, communication, analytical thinking and creative thinking as well as a very good analogy are included, and (3). The ability to read and write Quran student has a significant correlation with math skills. This is based on the results of hypothesis testing inferential analysis that showed a correlation coefficient r = 0608 and the coefficient of determination r2 = 0.3697 or 36.97%.
