Abstract

Mesoporous silica is a silka solid that has a pore size between 2-50 nm and can be used in various fields such as a catalyst, drug diluents, sensors, adsorption, stationary phase for chromatography and others. Mesoporous silica was synthesized using the precursor natrum silicate (Na2SiO3) from silica sand because it is more economical and easy to obtain. This study aims to determine the effect of Pluronic 104 (1g; 1.5g; and 2g) surfactant on particle size and crystallinity of mesoporous silica with Na2SiO3 as a base material synthesized from silica sand. Mesoporous silica was synthesized using the sol-gel method because it can be done at low temperature, then followed by calcination at 550 °C for 5 hours to remove the template. The synthesized Mesoporous silica was characterized using high angle X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) 2θ = 10°-80°. The results of XRD data measurements showed a diffraction pattern that appeared as wide and low peaks at 2θ = 22°; 21.9°; 22.7° for products SM01, SM02 and SM03 respectively indicate that the synthesized silica is amorphous. Mesoporous silica with the highest  intensity and crystallinity was obtained in the SM03 sample with the addition of 2 grams of P104.

Abstract

Mesoporous silica was synthesized using sodium silicate obtained from tuff stones Indarung hills in Padang, Indonesia. Mesoporous silica was synthesized  from sodium silicate and P104 as surfactant in acid condition. The result from characterization using spectrofottometer Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) are shown wavelength at 806 cm-1, 1058 cm-1, 1647 cm-1, and 3476 cm-1 that indicates mesoporous silica.  FTIR data were strengthened using XRD with a wide and low diffractogram at 2θ=22°. The results show that tuff stones have potential  to be used  as a precrusor for synthesis mesoporous silica.

Abstract

Dyestuff waste from the textile industry process which is disposed of directly into the environment will cause problems because it is toxic and carcinogenic. Methylene blue is one of the azo dyes that is often used as a textile dye. One way to decompose dyes is to use a catalyst Fe3O4-Fe2O3@SiO2 which is synthesized using natural raw materials from iron sand and silica sand and is assisted by H2O2 oxidizer through the fenton method with the formation of OH for the decomposition process of methylene blue. Decomposition of methylene blue has been carried out using the fenton method using Fe3O4-Fe2O3@SiO2 as a catalyst and H2O2 as an oxidizing agent. The experimental parameters were the optimum time, the optimum amount of catalyst and the reusability test of the Fe3O4-Fe2O3@SiO2 catalyst in decomposing methylene blue. The optimum conditions for decomposition of the methylene blue dye using Fe3O4-Fe2O3@SiO2 were 60 minutes and the amount of catalyst was 100 mg. At the optimum condition, the percentage of degradation is > 98%. For testing the reusability of the Fe3O4-Fe2O3@SiO2 catalyst can be used 2x to decompose methylene blue. In the second use, the percentage of degradation is 83%, this is because Fe3O4 has changed to Fe2O3 so that the degradation result decreases.

Abstract

Mesoporous silika with a pore diameter of 2-50 nm can be used in various fields such as adsorption, sensor, medicine, immobilization of metal nanoparticles in catalyst synthesis and stationary phase for chromatography. Mesoporous silika synthesis was carried out using sodium silicate form rijang stone West Sumatera. Mesoporous silica was synthesized using the sol-gel method. Synthesis was carried out to determine the effect of aging time (24 hours and 48 hours) on the crystallity and particle size of mesoporous silica. Mesoporous silica was characterized using XRD (X-Ray Difraction) to see the crystallinity of the silica and the crystal size of the resulting sample. The result of XRD data measurement showed tha the peaks appeared at a high angle of 2Ɵ=23o, a large mesoporous silica particle size and high crystallinity were obtained at 24 hours of aging.

Abstract

Sijunjung iron sand has different chemical composition and properties and high magnetic susceptibility compared to other iron sands in West Sumatra so it requires different reaction conditions. The existing iron sand needs to be increased in economic value by using it as a basic material for the manufacture of dyes. Several dyes such as red, yellow and black have been synthesized which are based on iron sand. Prussian Blue with the formula Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3 was synthesized so that all the basic colors are met. Prussian Blue was synthesized by coprecipitation method at room temperature by varying the mass of K4[Fe(CN)6]. The addition of the K4[Fe(CN)6] mass makes the resulting color brighter and closer to the standard Prussian blue. The synthesized products characterized using the Prussian Blue UV-Vis Spectrophotometer did not meet the standards because some unwanted peaks appeared indicating the resulting material was impure, while characterization using FTIR could identify the presence of Prussian Blue-forming groups.

Abstract

Abstrak - Nanopartikel Fe3O4 dari pasir besi merupakan salah satu partikel magnetik memiliki karakteristik yang menarik seperti sifat kemagnetan, optis dan katalitiknya, serta banyak digunakan dalam berbagai aplikasi antara lain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), pemisah logam berat untuk pemurnian air, hypertemia theraphy system. Namun, nanopartikel besi tidak stabil bila digunakan langsung sebagai katalis, hingga perlu penstabil silika. Sintesis SiO2 pada permukaan Campuran nanopartikel Fe3O4 dan Fe2O3 dilakukan dengan menggunakan nanopartikel Fe3O4 hasil dari pasir besi Sijunjung. Sintesis SiO2 pada permukaan  Campuran nanopartikel Fe3O4dan Fe2O3  dilakukan menggunakan metode Sol-Gel. Sintesis dilakukan untuk mengkaji pengaruh pH (7, 9 dan 11) terhadap keberadaan silika mesopori pada permukaan nanopartikel magnet Fe3O4@SiO2. Senyawa hasil dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRD (X-Ray Diffraction). Keberadaan silika pada permukaan campuran nanopartikel  Fe3O4 dan Fe2O3 mulai teramati pada kondisi pH 11  ditunjukkan dengan adanya puncak lebar dan rendah pada 2θ = 26.  Kata Kunci - Nanopartikel Fe3O4, Fe2O3  dan Silika Mesopori,

Abstract

The manufacture of activated carbon from oil palm frond waste using an ultrasonic wave activator has been successfully carried out. The carbonization process was carried out at a temperature of 250ºC for 90 minutes. Activation with ultrasonic waves (35 Watt, 40 KHz) for 30 minutes was able to increase the iodine number from 330.06 mg/g to 799.14 mg/g and was in accordance with SNI No.06-3730-1995. FTIR spectra show that the activated carbon of oil palm fronds has a functional group –OH at wave number 2900-3200 cm-1, C=C at wavenumber 1500-1600 cm-1, C-O at wavenumber 1200-1250 cm-1. The results of the adsorption test on Rhodamine B dye showed that the activated carbon produced had an optimum absorption capacity of 9.04 mg/g at a concentration of 400 ppm for 90 minutes. Studies show that the adsorption isotherms absorption mechanisms tend to follow the Freundlich equation with a correlation coefficient (R2)= 0.9861.

Abstract

The synthesis of natural silica-based mesoporous silica is continuously being carried out, especially to obtain silica with high crystallinity and larger pores from high water absorption. In this study, the synthesis of mesoporous silica using the sol-gel method by adding hexane and varying the mass addition of Pluronic 104 surfactant (2 g, 4 g, 6 g). The synthesized silica was characterized using XRD.. The results of measurements using XRD showed that the diffraction pattern appeared as the relevant peak for the three products with standard mesopore silica diffraction patterns, namely wide and low peaks at 2ϴ 22.7; 21.8; 22.1 for the products SM02, SM04 and SM06 respectively. Meanwhile, the highest intensity / crystallinity given by the SM06 sample.

Abstract

Abstract: Effectiveness of Guided Inquiry-based interactive Power-Point learning Media on Electrolyte and Non-electrolyte Solution Materials for Class X SMA.Effectiveness of Interactive Power-Point Learning Media based on Guided Inquiry on Electrolyte and Non-electrolyte Solution Materials for class X SMA. This study aims to determine the level of effectiveness of guided inquiry-based interactive Power-point learning media on improving student learning outcomes in class X SMA Adabiah 2 Padang. This Research is carried out in April 2022- May 2022. The type of research used is quasi-experimental research. The instrumental used in the study was a test in the form of 20 multiple-choice questions that had validity, difficulty index, distinguishing power and Reliability with good question criteria. The Effectiveness level of Interactive Power-Point Learning Media based on guided inquiry is seen from the N-Gain test.

Abstract

Abstract: The effectiveness of guided inquiry-based interactive power-point learning media on acid-base material for class XISMA/MA. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of interactive power-point learning media based on guided inquiry on the acid-based topic on student learning outcomes at SMA Adabiah 2 Padang. This quasi-experimental study used a nonequivalent control-group design. The population consists of grade XI student of Adabiah 2 High School Padang in the 2021/2022 school year and samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a multiple-choice test and the data were analyzed by n-gain test, normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis testing by t-test. Based on data analysis, the experimental class n-gain was significantly higher than the control class with the medium category. To test the hypothesis obtained sig (2-tailed) 0.05 so that it indicates the hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that the use of interactive power-point learning media based on guided inquiry on acid-base material is effective in improving student learning outcomes at SMA Adabiah 2 Padang. Therefore, guided inquiry-based interactive power-point learning media on acid-base topic can be used for learning chemistry in the classroom.
