Abstract

This research applied Small Group Discussion learning model to improve the understanding of concept of KKNI 6th level students to match their expert field. The observations showed that the concept understanding of students was still low. This research was a classroom action research with Kemmis McTaggart cycle model. This classroom action research was conducted over two cycles. Each cycle consisted of two meetings. The subjects of the research were 2A class students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Program in Yogyakarta State University which amounted to 39 students. The data collecting technique in this research was test, while the data analysis technique used descriptive quantitative by finding mean then described. The result of the research showed that the concept understanding of the students in pre-action condition were 55,2 included in low category, then the average of students’ understanding concept increased in the first cycle with score 64,7. In cycle II, the students’ understanding concept increased significantly  with score 77,3. Based on the research, it  can be concluded that the SGD model can  improve the students' concept understanding.

Abstract

Good education reflects the quality of the nation. A teacher is a spearheaded on the educational field to provide generation that has a good quality. In order to established a generation that has good quality, a quality learning method is needed. Therefore, PGSD students as prospective national educators have to understand the basics of learning in elementary schools. The study that is conducted at UST in the department of PGSD  found that the understanding of the basic concepts of social study is low. The aim of the study is to improve the understanding concept of social study to students in UST in the department of PGSD. This study uses Cooperative model type GI in lecture activities. The study is used classroom action research by engaging 2 cycles, each cycle has a duration about 2×50 mins and conducted on 2 meetings. Subjects of the study were the writer as a researcher, lecturer, and students of  UST in the department of PGSD. Data sources were taken from lecturer and students. Data were collected used test, observation, and interview technique. The data validity test is used triangulation. The data analysis technique that is used an interactive analysis that consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The result of the study shows that the use of GI able to improve the understanding of the basic concept of social study on the student in UST in department of PGSD. Lecturers may use the GI in the learning process to make students more active in study and to improve the understanding of students' conceptions.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to examine the effects of cooperative learning approach ofStudent Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD), the level of student’s learning motivation, andthe interaction of the two independent variabels to understanding on social studies in elementarystudent. Cooperative learning was compared to lecture recitation cycle using a quasiexperimentaldesign. An achievement test consisting of items from the state competency test, anda motivation to learn questionnaire adopted from Hari Witono were administered. The analysisof variance(Anova) was used to data analyse. Anova showed a significant difference among thedependent variables from the learning strategies used. There was also a significant difference instudent’s understanding on social studies between the high and low levels of motivation to learn.But there was no interaction between the learning strategis and the levels of motivation to learntowards understanding on social studies in elementary school.Based on these findings,it wassuggested that teacher need to use cooperative learning type STAD and motivate students tolearn, so student’s achievement, especially in social studies subject matter, increased.

Abstract

AbstractOne of the many problems faced by education in Indonesia is the low quality. Several attempts have been taken by the government to resolve the issue, but the results is still far from expectations. Based on expert opinion, the problem of low quality education should be focused on improving the quality of learning, by developing and using instructional media or learning resources that is available in the learning environment. Learning video is an qfective medium to be used to facilitate student's learning and it suites to serve students of auditory and visual learning type. Therefore, to improve the learning process quality, teachers are not only expected to make use of media and learning resources that are available but also to develop the learning media, especially learning video

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop a manual book to improve Indonesian migrant workers with destination Malaysia. This research adopted the research and development model (RnD)proposed by Thiagarajan. Data collection technique employed questionnaire, observation, and pre-posttest. The need analysis was conducted through pretest and the result of observation and questionnaire. The expert judgment involved media expert, material expert and Indonesian migrant workers to assess the prototype of the manual book. Quantitative data were obtained from pretest and posttest scores and the questionnaire from expert validation and user. Descriptive qualitative data analysis techniques were used to process the data observation. Quantitative data analysis was used to examine the scores obtained from the pre and posttest. The research produced (1) a manual book design and (2) a product of manual books which has been tested for its effectiveness and practicality in improving Indonesian migrant worker knowledge.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan desain dan pengembangan produk berupa buku panduan un- tuk meningkatkan pengetahuan Tenaga Kerja Indonesia (TKI) dengan tujuan Malaysia. Model yang digu- nakan dalam penelitian ini adalah research and development (RnD) dari Thiagarajan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuisioner, observasi dan pre-posttest. Data yang diperoleh melalui analisis kebutuhan dengan memberikan pretest, observasi, dan kuisioner. Validasi ahli dengan instrumen kuisioner untuk me- nilai prototipe buku panduan oleh ahli media, ahli materi, dan TKI tersebut. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari hasil pretes dan postes kepada TKI dan kuisioner untuk validasi media dan respon dari TKI. Analisis data kuantitatif menggunakan desain pre-experiment dengan one group pretest-postest design. Hasil penelitian menghasilakn sebuah desain dan produk buku panduan yang telah teruji efektivitasnya dalam meningkat- kan pengetahuan TKI.
