Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground:Minimal intervention dentistry promote the philosophy of prevention, remineralization, and minimal invasive in the practice of dentistry. One of the technique employed by this concept is air abrasion. Aim: to discover the effectiveness of air abrasion technique on the dental caries prepation towards the bond strength of composite resin with the method of scoping review. Method: This research utilize the PRISMA diagram, based on PubMed, PMC and Elsevier database with the keywords of: ((("air abrasion" OR "air abraded") AND (composite OR "composite resin")) AND "bond strength"). Result: Based on the criteria, 14 articles were found and divided into 5 categories Conclusion: the mean and SD of air abrasion technique with self-etch bonding type against microtensile bond strength test is 20.1 ± 5.3 - 71.7 ± 8.3 MPa; with the total-etch bonding type is 25.2 ± 7.2 - 55.08 ± 3.74 MPa, with total-etch bonding type against tensile bond strength test is 15.83 ± 1.51 - 20.80 ± 3.95 MPa; with self-etch bonding type against shear bond strength test is 6.7 - 25.32 ± 4.91 MPa; and with total etch is 13.88 ± 5.50 - 30.25 ± 7.00 MPa.

Abstract

Background: Nanofiller composite resins are commonly used as a restorative materials but nanofiller composite resins has high susceptibility to stain. Coffee has a huge impact on color changes. Besides of being able to give a smooth surface of a composite resins, polishing techniques were able to remove superficial stain on composite resins. Air abrasion technique has been introduced since 1945 and is still being used not because its only ability to remove caries, but also its ability to remove superficial stain on the teeth. Aim: to discover the effectiveness of air abrasion technique and conventional polishing technique towards color changes in nanofiller composite resins that were immersed in robusta coffee. Materials and Method: Twenty samples were immersed in robusta coffee for 7 days. Samples that have been stained were devided into two groups, group one were polished with air abrasion technique and group two were polished with conventional technique using abrasive discs.The color changes measurement were taken using spectrophotometer VITA Easyshade V prior to and after staining, and then repeated after polishing treatment. Result: There were significant differences in L, C and E between before the samples were immersed in robusta coffee and after they were polished with air abrasion technique. But there were no significant differences between before the samples were immersed in robusta coffee and after they were polished with conventional technique. Conclusion: There were differences in the effectiveness of air abrasion technique and conventional polishing technique towards color changes in nanofiller composite resins that were immersed in robusta coffee.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Pada umumnya, sosok ibu sangat berperan dalam membentuk pola pikir setiap anggota keluarganya.  Saat ini, masyarakat terbiasa memiliki pola pikir yang kritis. Hal ini berpengaruh terhadap perawatan gigi. Dalam beberapa kasus perawatan, keperluan terhadap tindakan rontgen gigi tidak dapat dihindari. Edukasi yang tepat dapat menjadi bentuk awal komunikasi yang baik terhadap suatu tindakan dalam perawatan kesehatan gigi seperti permintaan kesediaan melakukan rontgen gigi demi menegakkan diagnosa yang tepat sehingga perawatan gigi dapat memberikan keberhasilan yang maksimal. kegiatan ini bertujuan memberikan edukasi dan pemahaman kepada komunitas ibu terhadap pentingnya rontgen gigi sebagai tindakan pendukung dalam perawatan kesehatan gigi. Kegiatan ini dilakukan secara daring melalui aplikasi zoom dengan menerapkan metode komunikasi dua arah secara aktif dan menarik untuk menghindari kejenuhan. Penyampaian materi dilakukan dengan pemilihan bahasa yang mudah dipahami oleh masyarakat. kegiatan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan berdasarkan hasil pretest dan posttest peserta serta antusias peserta dalam tanya jawab terkait tindakan rontgen gigi. Kegiatan ini dapat dilaksanakan dengan tingkat keberhasilan yang baik karena didukung oleh metode yang tepat dan komunikasi yang baik antara tim pelaksana dan komunitas. Kata Kunci: Rontgen Gigi, Kesehatan Gigi, Peran Ibu  ABSTRACT In general, the mother figure plays a very important role in shaping the mindset of every member of her family. Nowadays, people are accustomed to having a critical mindset. This affects dental care. In some cases of treatment, the need for dental X-rays is inevitable. Proper education can be an early form of good communication to an action in dental health care such as a request for willingness to do dental X-rays to establish the right diagnosis so that dental care can provide maximum success. This activity aims to provide education and understanding to the mother community on the importance of dental X-rays as a supporting action in dental health care. This activity is carried out online through the zoom application by applying two-way communication methods actively and interestingly to avoid saturation. The delivery of materials is carried out by the selection of language that is easily understood by the public. This activity showed an increase in knowledge based on the results of the participants' pretests and posttests and the enthusiasm of participants in Q&A related to dental X-rays. This activity can be carried out with a good success rate because it is supported by the right methods and good communication between the implementation team and the community. Keywords: Dental X-ray, Dental Health, Mother Role

Abstract

Background: Caries is a disease in the oral cavity that involves the hard tissue of the teeth, which is common in young and old people and causes pulpal necrosis. One of the treatments performed to treat pulpal necrosis is root canal treatment. Until now, research related to durian skin which is associated with antibacterial reactions against bacteria that cause root canal disease is still narrow. Objective: To assess the antibacterial effect of ethanol extract of skin durian on Actinomyces sp. as a root canal irrigant. Methods: True experimental design research was carried out using Actinomyces sp. bacteria were treated with concentrations of 35%, 30%, 25%, 20%, and 15% by microdilution method. Results: The ethanol extract of durian skin is the most effective in inhibiting the growth of Actinomyces sp. is 35% with an average colony yield of 0.2 x 106 CFU/ml. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of the durian rind which has the most effective antibacterial effect is at a concentration of 35%.

Abstract

Dental emergencies are potentially life-threatening conditions and immediate treatment is needed to stop ongoing bleeding, reduce pain and also uncontrolled bleeding, cellulitis or bacterial tissue infection causing swelling in the mouth or mouth area and trauma to the bones in the facial area . Delay in treatment of trauma to the teeth can lead to treatment failure. Delay in emergency dental treatment after trauma will increase the risk of complications, non-vital teeth and an unpredictable prognosis.Dental emergencies often occur at the elementary school level and the most common cases are loose or avulsed teeth due to falls and impacts. Teachers in schools not only have a central role as educators, but teachers also act as first aid agents in dealing with health problems in schools. In addition, teachers also play a role and assist health workers in collecting data and also as the first emergency referral before being handled by health workers.SDI Assalaam has a staff of 46 teachers and 250 students. Having students who are actively moving has a risk of accidents such as falling and so on which can cause injury, especially the oral cavity, while knowledge of dental emergencies and their management according to the Principal of SDI Assalaam has never been received by the teachers who teach at SDI Assalaam , so that if there is a dental emergency the teachers don't know what action to take.To overcome the lack of knowledge about dental emergencies and their management. So the teachers of SDI Assalam are given counseling and training about dental emergencies and their handling so that the importance of dental emergencies is socialized so that teachers at SDI Assalaam can increase their knowledge about dental emergencies and their management.Based on the evaluation results of community service activities. There was a significant increase in the level of knowledge of SDI Assalaam teachers regarding dental emergencies and their treatment.

Abstract

Introduction: Endocrown is an indirect restoration following the endodontic treatment made of ceramic material as a substitute for post core crown. The endocrown is cemented to the inner wall of the pulp chamber and to the cavity margins to increase the macromechanical retention. Material commonly used are monolithic zirconia and lithium disilicate; both can be obtained using the CAD/CAM technique. Good endocrown restoration must be able to handle the chewing workload especially on the posterior tooth. Objective: To determine the difference in fracture toughness of monolithic zirconia and lithium disilicate CAD/CAM endocrown. Methods: This study used 6 endocrown CAD/CAM samples, attached to typodont prototype in 3D resin printing model produced by the printing machine. Samples were divided into 2 groups. Group A were monolithic zirconia endocrowns and group B were lithium disilicate endocrowns. The fracture toughness was calculated using the Universal Testing Machine (UTM). Results: Fracture toughness of the monolithic zirconia endocrown were 2.747 N and lithium disilicate were 769 N. The unpaired t test showed that there was significant difference in fracture toughness between groups (p < 0,05). Conclusion: Monolithic zirconia endocrown has a higher fracture toughness compared to the lithium disilicate endocrown, but lithium disilicate is more recommended as an endocrown restoration material because its fracture toughness is closer to masticatory load of posterior teeth.
