Abstract

Learning process determines the improvement of students’ learning achievements. Selection of an appropriate learning experience is the task of the teacher as a facilitator in charge of providing a supportive learning environment for the students. This study aims to determine the perception of teachers after implementing learning using Problem Based Learning model. The subject of this research is the Math teachers at State Senior High School 1 Wuryantoro, Wonogiri Regency, Academic Year 2017/2018. Data are collected using interviews to find out teachers' perceptions of the implementation of Problem Based Learning model. The result shows that the Probem Based Learning model make it easier for teachers to learn in the classroom because students are more interested and active, but teachers are often constrained in constructing contextual problems that can connect with the intended concept. Limited time allocation is also a constraint of implementing learning using Problem Based Learning.

Abstract

This research tries to analyze the mathematics learning difficulties of Junior High school students on the material of “ relation and function”. This research was conducted on the grade VIII students in one of Junior High School 1st semester in Surakarta city in the academic year 2016. Mastery of students to the concept of mathematics which is the basic science of all sciences is still lacking. The results of the national exam of junior high school students of Surakarta are still low, one of which can be seen from the absorption of material relations and functions. This is because the results of National Examination for the city of Surakarta, can be seen from the absorption of UN value in 2015 with indicators to solve problems related to the function of 57.23%, while the year 2016 with indicators determine the value of the function if the formula of the known function of 52.70 %. This study uses test methods and interviews to find out the learning difficulties and their causes. Based on the test and interview on 3 Junior high school students who have high, medium and low learning achievements, it is found that students got difficulties in determining the value of function and value of x, if the image of x is known. Students get difficulty in solving problems related to the function and determine the value of the function and determine the value of x if the image of x is given. By knowing the difficulties faced by students expected teachers can find ways to overcome difficulties faced by students so that will be able to improve students' understanding of the material relations and functions.

Abstract

The 2013 Curriculum (K13) 2017 Revision required the teachers to facilitate their students to have the willingness to read by integrating literacy movements into the learning process. This study describes how does the Civil Servant Mathematics teacher integrate literacy movement into the learning process. The subject of this study is a Civil Cervant Mathematics teacher at SMAN 1 Wuryantoro, Wonogiri Regency. Based on the observations and interviews, the teacher 1) compiles long story questions to train students’ ability in reading comprehension, 2) provides opportunities for students to borrow books in the library during group discussions, 3) provides opportunities for students to operate their smartphone to search the materials, 4) assigns individual tasks to the students to look for the articles or journals about the materials, and 5) gives motivation about the importance of reading to integrate the literacy movement.
