Abstract

This research aimed at finding out whether or not the implementation of context clues strategy is effective to improve students` reading comprehension at the eighth grade of MTs. Al-Falah Baras Mamuju Utara. The students` reading comprehension was restricted to two indicators namely literal comprehension (main idea and conclusion) and interpretative comprehension (conclusion). The researcher used preexperimental research. The researcher conducted pre-test, treatment and post-test in the total of six meetings. Reading test was used as instrument. The samples of the research were 23 students in VIII Putri class. The researcher took real data from school to know the students` reading comprehension. The result of the research showed that the t-test values in terms of literal comprehension (5.52) and interpretative comprehension (5.27). The final t-test values (5.395) were higher that ttable (1.717) at the level of significant (p) = 0.05 with degree of freedom (df) = 22. The differences between t-test and t-table was very significant. It means that the Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that implementation context clues strategy is effective to improve students` reading comprehension

Abstract

This research finding out whether the blog increases the students’ writing skill. In this study, researcher used in this quantitative research is a pre-experimental method. This kind of study allows the researcher to look at the effects of at least one independent variable and one dependent variable. In this research, the researcher wanted to see whether the treatment make a difference or no. Population The population of the research was the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Jeneponto in the academic year of 2019/2020. Sample, the sample was selected by using cluster random sampling technique. The researcher chose one class as the sample. Research Instrument, the instrument used in this research was writing test. To test writing ability the researcher will ask the students to write three paragraphs. There will be two tests, namely pre-test & post-test.

Abstract

Vocabulary is an important aspect of learning english and any languanges. Students use vocabulary in order to develop ideas, thoughts and feelings. For students, mastering vocabulary is difficult since pronouncing and understanding words is difficult, and this discourages them to learn, because students only remember the vocabulary taught that day, which will be forgetten the next day due to a lack of implementation. This research aimed to improve students’ vocabulary mastery at MTsN Parepare by using “Up” movie. The researcher used pre-experimental research where the data gained from the vocabulary test. The population of the research was the eight grade of MTsN Parepare in the academic year 2022/2023. The result presented that the mean score of students’ vocabulary mastery consisted pre-test and post-test in terms of Noun, Adjective and Verb was 73,50 which categorized as “Poor” while post-test was 90,50 which categorized as “Good”. It is indicated that the mean score of pre-test and post-test was increase 17 point. The t-test analysis presented that by applying 0.05 level of of significant with the degree of freedom 23 and p value (sig.2-tailed) was 0.000 indicates that there is a significant difference of the result of pre-test and post-test of the students. In other words, the result of the (sig.2-tailed) of the students’ post test is not greater than the level of significance (0.000<0.05).

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate students’ perception on the use of preaching method and Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) media in teaching English at seventh semester students English Department Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This study applied a descriptive qualitative study. The data gained through open-ended interview and process with question interview that was present in paper, data reduction, and coding technique. The data was gained from seventh semester students at English Department Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. Based on the findings, it finds that students gave the positive perception toward the use of preaching method and Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) Media in teaching English to measure the effectiveness of the method and the media to support their English skills or knowledge. Moreover, the students claimed that they have many advantages during the implementation of preaching method and CALL media. This study also found that this strategy was needed to be improved by the lecturers in terms of giving instruction, observing the class and evaluating the implementation of preaching method and CALL media in English class

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effect of E-book Reader application on students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of SMAN 16 Gowa. The researcher applied descriptive qualitative research design. The subject of this research was 25 students. The result of this research showed that there were five positive effects by used E-book Reader application were E-book Reader application makes the students read more effectively, E-book Reader application makes easier for students to identify reading structures and main idea, E-book Reader application make students easier to read by using the features available, E-book Reader application makes students enthusiastic in reading and the last by using E-book Reader application the students save time and place. Type the abstract here (10pt). Abstract, which comprised of approximately 250 words, provides a brief description of problems, aims, the method used, and results. It emphasizes research results in which written in single line spacing with left and right margin are 0.5 cm narrower than the main text. 4 to 5 keywords must be written to describe the research scope observed, as well as the main terms undergirding the research. These keywords can be single and/or combined words
