Abstract

Abstract. Social anxiety often occurs in individuals who are at the age of emerging adulthood because they feel uncertainty in exploring who they are, and how they want to be seen by others. Many emerging adulthood individuals who experience social anxiety interact online on smartphones because they feel more comfortable communicating with smartphones than they interact directly. The use of smartphones in everyday life can make it easier for users to reach long-distance communication and access various kinds of information. But on the one hand, the use of smartphones can also cause problems when used excessively, one of these problems is smartphone addiction. The purpose of this study is to obtain empirical evidence regarding the effect of social anxiety on smartphone addiction among emerging adulthood in Bandung City. The causality method was used in this quantitative research design. The sample of this study was 400 students who met the research criteria. The measuring instruments on the questionnaire are the Social Anxiety Scale-Adolescence Indonesian version and the Smartphone Addiction Scale Indonesian version. The results of this study indicate the influence of social anxiety on smartphone addiction with a coefficient value of 0.300, which means that it has a moderate influence and is positive, so it can be said to be unidirectional. So it can be concluded, the higher the social anxiety, the more smartphone dependence will increase. Abstrak. Kecemasan sosial seringkali terjadi pada individu yang berada pada usia emerging adulthood karena merasa adanya ketidakpastian dalam bereksplorasi tentang siapa dirinya, dan bagaimana mereka ingin dipandang oleh orang lain. Individu emerging adulthood yang mengalami kecemasan sosial banyak yang berinteraksi secara online pada smartphone karena merasa lebih nyaman berkomunikasi dengan smartphone dibandingkan mereka berinteraksi secara langsung. Penggunaan smartphone dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dapat memudahkan para penggunanya untuk menjangkau komunikasi jarak jauh dan mengakses berbagai macam informasi. Namun pada satu sisi, penggunaan smartphone juga dapat menyebabkan masalah ketika digunakan secara berlebihan, satu diantara masalah tersebut adalah ketergantungan smartphone. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendapat bukti empiris mengenai pengaruh kecemasan sosial terhadap smartphone addiction di kalangan emerging adulthood di Kota Bandung. Metode kausalitas digunakan dalam desain penelitian kuantitatif ini. Sampel peneltian ini sebanyak 400 mahasiswa yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian. Alat ukur pada kuisoner adalah Social Anxiety Scale-Adolescence versi Bahasa Indonesia dan Smartphone Addiction Scale versi Bahasa Indonesia. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya pengaruh kecemasan sosial terhadap smartphone Addiction dengan nilai koefisien sebesar 0.300, yang artinya memiliki pengaruh sedang (moderate) dan bernilai positif, sehingga dapat dikatakan searah. Maka dapat disimpulkan, semakin tinggi kecemasan sosial maka semakin ketergantungan smartphone akan semakin meningkat.

Abstract

Abstract. Overseas students often face various challenges, including psychosocial stress, differences in social support received, and other interpersonal and intrapersonal problems that arise as a consequence of the adaptation process to a new social and cultural environment. Overseas students who experience difficulties in building and maintaining meaningful social relationships in a new environment, can trigger feelings of loneliness that have the potential to affect their subjective well-being. This study aims to determine the effect of loneliness on subjective well-being in overseas students at the Bandung Islamic University (Universitas Islam Bandung). Using a quantitative approach with a causality design, the study involved 362 participants (132 males, 230 females). The measuring instrument used for the loneliness variable is the Loneliness Scale Version 3 (R-UCLA Version 3) which has been modified by Anggraeni (2018), while for the subjective well-being variable using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and the Positive and Negative Experience Scale (SPANE) which has been adapted by Akhtar (2019). Multiple linear regression analysis was employed to evaluate the influence of personality, social desirability, and depression aspects of loneliness on subjective well-being. Results indicate that loneliness negatively affects subjective well-being, accounting for 48.1% of the variance. The depression aspect showed the strongest influence (30.2%), followed by personality (10.9%), and social desirability (7%). Abstrak. Mahasiswa rantau sering kali menghadapi berbagai tantangan, termasuk stres psikososial, perbedaan social support yang diterima, serta masalah interpersonal dan intrapersonal lainnya yang muncul sebagai konsekuensi dari proses adaptasi terhadap lingkungan sosial dan budaya yang baru. Mahasiswa rantau yang mengalami kesulitan dalam membangun dan mempertahankan hubungan sosial yang bermakna di lingkungan baru, dapat memicu perasaan kesepian yang berpotensi mempengaruhi subjective well-being mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh loneliness terhadap subjective well-being pada mahasiswa rantau di Universitas Islam Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian kausalitas. Penelitian ini melibatkan 362 mahasiswa rantau di Universitas Islam Bandung, dengan keterangan 132 responden laki-laki dan 230 responden perempuan. Alat ukur yang digunakan untuk variabel loneliness adalah Loneliness Scale Version 3 (R-UCLA Version 3) yang telah dimodifikasi oleh Anggraeni (2018), sedangkan untuk variabel subjective well-being menggunakan alat ukur Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) dan Scale Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE) yang telah diadaptasi oleh Akhtar (2019). Teknik analisis data menggunakan regresi liniear berganda untuk mengukur pengaruh personality, social desirability, dan depression pada variabel loneliness terhadap subjective well-being. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa loneliness berpengaruh negatif terhadap subjective well-being dengan kontribusi sebesar 48.1%, yaitu dengan keterangan aspek depression memiliki pengaruh terbesar (30.2%), diikuti personality (10.9%), dan social desirability (7%).

Abstract

Abstract. This study discusses the relationship between job insecurity and work engagement among employees of Bank Y. Organizations need dynamic and dedicated employees, namely employees who have engagement in carrying out their work [2]. Job insecurity can reduce work engagement and performance, thus highlighting the need for strategies to reduce job insecurity and increase work engagement. Work engagement is very important for employee performance and well-being. The Job demands-Resources (JD-R) theory is relevant to work engagement because both aspects can determine the level of work engagement. Although job insecurity can affect work engagement, this relationship is complex and requires further research. The research method used in this study is quantitative with a correlation research design. The measuring instrument for job insecurity uses the Job insecurity Scale, and for work engagement uses the UWES-9 measuring instrument. And the results of the Pearson Correlation Output between the Job insecurity and Work engagement variables are known to have a correlation value of 0.033, this value is too close to 0 which can be interpreted that there is a very weak linear relationship between the two variables. Abstrak. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai hubungan antara job insecurity dan work engagement di kalangan karyawan bank Y. Organisasi membutuhkan karyawan yang dinamis dan berdedikasi, yaitu karyawan yang memiliki engagement dalam menjalankan pekerjaannya [2]. Job insecurity dapat mengurangi work engagement dan kinerja, sehingga menyoroti perlunya strategi untuk mengurangi job insecurity dan meningkatkan work engagement. Work engagement sangat penting untuk kinerja dan kesejahteraan karyawan. Teori Job demands-Resources (JD-R) relevan dengan work engagement karena kedua aspek tersebut bisa menentukan tinggi rendahnya work engagement. Meskipun job insecurity dapat mempengaruhi work engagement, hubungan ini kompleks dan membutuhkan penelitian lebih lanjut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian korelasi. Alat ukur untuk job insecurity menggunakan Job insecurity Scale, dan untuk work engagement menggunakan alat ukur UWES-9. Dan didapatkan hasil Output Korelasi Pearson antara variabel Job insecurity dan Work engagement diketahui memiliki nilai korelasi 0.033, nilai ini terlalu dekat dengan 0 yang dapat diartikan bahwa terdapat hubungan linear yang sangat lemah diantara kedua variabel.

Abstract

Self-injury occurs commonly in young people, especially during the development phase of emerging adults. It is seen as a manifestation of existential problems, such as obstacles in fulfilling or pursuing meaning in life which is the most basic human motivation. This study aims to determine the effect of logotherapy as an intervention to increase purpose in life in emerging adults who engage in self-injury. The research utilized a single case experiment A-B design involving two subjects, measuring their level of meaning in life with the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ). The analysis technique of visual analysis, baseline-corrected tau, and Reliable Change Index (RCI) yielded outcomes indicating logotherapy as an effective intervention option for increasing meaning in life in emerging adults with self-injury.
