Abstract

Background: A perineal tear affects around 85% of women who give birth vaginally. Previous animal research has demonstrated the beneficial effects of turmeric extract gel on wound healing, which speeds up the process of repairing wounded tissue. However, since this research is only in vivo, more studies and clinical trials are required to evaluate the efficacy of using turmeric extract gel to treat perineal lacerations.Purpose: To analyze the potential of turmeric extract gel (Curcuma Longa Linn.) in reducing REEDA score and IL-6 levels in postpartum women.Method: This is a quasi-experiment study with pretest–posttest with control group design. The study respondents comprised 20 people in the intervention group who were given turmeric extract gel and amoxicillin and 20 in the control group who were given amoxicillin for seven days. Measurement of wound healing using the REEDA score while IL-6 levels using ELISA. Data analysis of used Friedman and Wilcoxon tests. Results: There was a significant decrease in the intervention group's REEDA score and IL-6 levels (p<0.05). There was a significant difference in the average decrease in REEDA score and IL-6 levels between the two groups (p<0.05). The administration of turmeric extract gel led to faster wound healing for two days compared to the control group, which was only given standard treatment. Conclusion: Turmeric extract gel can reduce REEDA score and IL-6 levels.

Abstract

Background: The outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been designated by WHO as a pandemic, causing health services to be significantly disrupted and delayed globally, especially the implementation of the antenatal class. The participation of pregnant women in antenatal classes in Semarang City is only around 25% of the total number of the public health center in the Semarang city area during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. There is need a for media innovation in the antenatal class during the pandemic so that antenatal class can still be carried out safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.Purpose: To produce an antenatal class application that can facilitate pregnant women to attend antenatal classes virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic and test the implementation effect of the application on the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of pregnant women. Methods: This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method, divided into five stages (Data Collection, Product Design, Design Validation, Design Revision, and Product Trial). Results: An application has been created named PiCCa (Pregnancy Class Center); the test result is feasible to use with a result of 82% and can be used as antenatal class media with a result of 4.32 (p=0.000). The implementation of the PiCCa application can increase knowledge from 12.8 to 18.13 (p=0.000), attitude from 65.36 to 92.3 (p=0.000), and behavior of pregnant women from 19.53 to 32.2 (p=0.000).Conclusion: The PiCCa application is feasible and can be used as an online media for antenatal classes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and its application has a significant effect on increasing the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: During this pandemic, maternal health services must still be considered because it is feared that there will be an increase in postpartum maternal morbidity and mortality. Postpartum care knowledge is vital for postpartum mothers to maintain their condition, so it is necessary to make an application that helps mothers through the E-Postpartum application. Objective: The study aims to develop and test the E-Postpartum mobile application to increase knowledge of postnatal care.Method: This study employed Research & Development consisting of 4 stages, namely Literature Study, Development Stage, Validity Expert, and Trial. Results: The E-Postpartum mobile application has six features, starting from education about postpartum care to consultation. The trial results showed that the application effectively increased the knowledge and action of postpartum mothers (p <0.001).Conclusion: The E-Postpartum application is beneficial for health workers in providing education, especially for postpartum mothers in carrying out care during the postpartum period. This postpartum application will make it easier for mothers to check their condition and make it easier for midwives to detect early and control the mother's condition even remotely.
