Abstract

Bay leaf is a plant that one of its benefits is as a diuretic. Diuretics are drugs that act directly on the kidneys and increase the excretion of urine and sodium salts. The aim of the study was to determine the diuretic effect of ethanol extract of bay leaf (EEDS) on male white rats. The study used 25 male white rats, divided into 5 treatment groups: negative control group (CMC suspension 0.5%), positive control (furosemide suspension at a dose of 3.6 mg/kg BW), and a test group EEDS suspension at a dose of 100 mg/kg. BW, 200 mg/kg BW and 300 mg/kg BW. The test preparation was given orally to rats and then observed in a modified metabolic cage for 6 hours. The results of simplicia phytochemical screening showed positive for flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The results of EEDS characterization included a total ash content of 3.66%, water-soluble extract content of 3.69%, and ethanol-soluble extract content of 3.65%. The results showed that EEDS at a dose of 300 mg/kg BW showed the best diuretic effect compared to 200 mg/kg BW and 100 mg/kg BW, but the effect was lower than S. Furosemide 3.6 mg/kg BW. The results of the ANOVA EEDS test at doses of 100, 200 and 300 mg/kg BW had significant differences.

Abstract

Abstract Some diseases caused by microorganisms on the hands are diarrhea, diphteria, boils, typhus and others. The bacteria that most often contaminate the skin of the hands are Staphylococcus aureus and Escheria coli, whose spreas most often transmitted from hand to hand. Bunga lawing are one of the medicinal plants that have been used in medicine. The purpose of this study was determine the antibacterial activity of gel hand essential oil sanitizer gel preparation (Illiacium verum Hook.f) to the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escheria coli bacteria compared to sanitizer Dettol gel hand. This was carried out with the experimental method. Essential oil of bunga lawing is extracted using a heat method, namely soxhletation. The antibacterial activity test in this study used the agar diffusion method (disc diffusion). The measurement of the diameter of the inhibited area formed were analyzed using a one-way ANOVA statistical test. The results of antibacterial activity of bunga lawang sanitizer hand have lower antibacterial activity gel hand sanitizer Dettol. In the diameter of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria the highest rate 0f hand flower sanitizer gel was 15,1 mm while the sanitizer gel hand wash 21,4 mm. In Escheria coli bacteria, the inhibitory diameter the sanitizer hand gel dettol was obtained at 20.1 mm, while the lawang handsanitizer gel obtained the highest inhibition diameter of 13.1 mm. The results of data analysis using a one-way ANOVA statistical test showed a sig value p<0,05 so that there were significant differences between the gel hand to the inhibitory power of the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escheria coli bacteria. Abstract

Penggunaan obat bebas merupakan hal yang lumrah di masyarakat Indonesia. Untuk pengobatan penyakit dengan gejala ringan, masyarakat biasanya lebih memilih membeli obat sendiri daripada berkonsultasi dengan layanan kesehatan terlebih dahulu. Kondisi ini disebut pengobatan sendiri. Praktek pengobatan sendiri dapat memberikan keuntungan sekaligus kerugian atau risiko. Dari segi manfaat yaitu lebih hemat biaya dan waktu, sedangkan dapat merugikan jika penggunaan obat tidak tepat dan tidak tepat sasaran, hal ini dapat mengakibatkan penggunaan obat yang tidak rasional. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan edukasi dan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat tentang penggunaan obat yang baik dan benar dengan menggerakkan gerakan GEMA CERMAT. Gerakan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang cara memperoleh, menyimpan, menggunakan, dan membuang obat.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Latar belakang : Inflamasi adalah suatu respon protektif terhadap cidera. Salah satu tanda inflamasi adalah edema. Kelor (Moringa oleifera L.) mengandung flavonoid sebagai zat berkhasiat utama. Flavonoid diketahui menghambat COX-2 pada proes inflamasi.Tujuan penelitian : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas dan dosis efektif ekstrak sebagai anti-inflamasi. Metode : Eksperimental. Ekstrak dibuat dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut tranol 80%. Uji aktivitas antiinflamasi yang dilakukan dibagi dalam 5 kelompok perlakuan. Setiap kelompok terdiri dari 3 ekor tikus putih. Kelompok pertama (kontrol negatif) diberikan 0,5% suspensi Na-CMC, kelompok ke-2 (kontrol positif) diberikan natrium diklofenak 2,25 mg/kgBB, sedangkan kelompok ke-3, ke-4 dan ke-5 secara berturut-turut diberikan ekstrak etanol daun kelor sebesar 100, 150, dan 200 mg/kgBB. Masingmasing tikus kemudian diinduksi menggunakan karagenan 1% secara subplantar. Volume radang diukur menggunakan plestimometer dilakukan selama 3 jam dengan interval waktu 30 menit. Data dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan ANOVA (analysis of Variance). Hasil : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kontrol negatif memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan dengan kelompok perlakuan lainnya dimana tidak menunjukkan efek anti-inflamasi. Kesimpulan : Ekstrak etanol daun kelor 200 mg/kgBB memiliki efek antiinflamasi yang paling baik dibandingkan dengan ekstrak etanol 100, 150 mg/kgBB, tetapi masih berada dibawah Na-Diklofenak.
