Abstract

The difficulty that students faced right now is students cannot adapt to Distance Learning and started the network that they used. WhatsApp is only a communication application, that is not learning media, but they are used for the learning process. Based on the problem above the researcher want to know teachers' and students’ perception about the use of WhatsApp as a media in English subject in teaching-learning. The method that was used in this research is the Qualitative Descriptive approach, the respondents of the study were 1 teacher and 21 students as an informant. The data was collected by using an observation guide, interview guide, and documentation. The researcher found the data conducted from the data that Perception of Teachers by using WhatsApp in the learning process more efficient and make students easily receive the material and apply their assignment but is not effective. There are pros and contras to the use of WhatsApp in students, points that students’ pro such as helping students communicate with their teacher, the contra points such as the internet connection is unstable. Also, the advantages of WhatsApp such as there are no time and place restrictions and the disadvantages such as preparing funds for purchasing quotas.

Abstract

Translation has now become subject matter since its role as cross-culture and cross-language mediator. This research, then, aims to unfold the translation strategy and ideology reflected in literary work. The data source are the American short story “The Lottery“ written by Shirley Jackson and its Indonesian version “Undian“ translated by Harum L Wibowo. This research employ qualitative approach and descriptive method. Both of the strategy of literary translation theory by Kazakova (2015) and translation ideology theory by Venutti (1994) are used to answer the question of the research. This research found that translator used all four strategies of literary translation proposed by Kazakova; helper strategy (35,57%), observer strategy (26,17%), enlightener strategy (20,13%), and adherent strategy strategy (18,12%). It also found that the strategy used by translator alternately applied both foreignization and domestication ideology on his translation process. Thus, while preserving the foreign culture and language, the translator also adapt ST/SL into TT/TL in his translation process to make it fluent to the target reader.

Abstract

The cooperative learning method Numbered Head Together (NHT) is a learning method based on constructivist learning theory. Numbered Heads Together (NHT) is a structured approach to collaborative learning proposed by Spencer Kagan et al. (Ibrahim, 2000: 25). The aims of this study is to find out the implementation of the Numbered Head Together model to improve students learning outcomes at SMA 4 PAREPARE. This study used a quantitative method. Using a Pre-experimental research design, a class pretest and posttest. Pre- experimental study design was employed to measure changes in outcomes before and after the intervention was put into place. The data is to explain the implementation of Numbered Head Together (NHT) used. Location This research was conducted at UPT SMAN 4 PAREPARE, district Ujung, the city of Parepare. This research focuses on class XI IPS 2 in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. Class XI IPS 2 contains 31 students, 16 male and 15 female. Base on the results of the research that has been done and the discussion, it can be concluded that; the application of The Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model on cognitive aspects. This is evidenced by an increase in the value of pretest with an average of 70% increasing to 80.58% in posttest. The percentage of learning completeness also increased from the pretest by 67.74%. Increase to 83.87%. In posttest.
