Abstract

Red Meranti was a commercial wood that is widely used as a raw material for the timber industry (plywood and sawmill industry), and generated a lot of waste. Currently, the utilization of red meranti waste has not been utilized optimally. One of the optimizing utilization of that waste was for developing a Particleboard with the citric acid natural binder. The objective of this study was to determine the bonding properties of Sawmill Waste Red Meranti Particleboard bonded with a Citric Acid Natural Adhesive. Citric acid was dissolved in water with the concentration of the solution adjusted to 60 wt%. This adhesive solution was sprayed onto the 40 mesh (coarse) and 40 mesh (fine) particles at 10% and 20% resin content based on the weight of oven-dried particles. Each mixture was then hot pressed at 110°C for 15 min under 50 kg/cm² pressure. Density and dimension targets were 0.7 kg/cm³; 30 × 30 × 1 cm. Each experiment was performed in triplicate, and the average value and standard deviation were calculated. The results showed that the interaction of particle size and adhesive content had a very significant effect on density, internal bonding, and screw-holding strength and had no significant effect on moisture content, thickness swelling, and modulus of rupture (MOR). Based on the SNI 03-2105-2006, the physical properties that meet the standard were moisture content and. Meanwhile, the mechanical properties of sawmill waste red meranti particleboard have not met the SNI 03-2105-2006. Abstract

Kalimantan has 222 species of mammals and 44 of them are endemic. This study aims to calculate the diversity and determine the number of large mammal species that exist in the UPT area. Natural Laboratory of Peat Forest (LAHG) Sebangau University of Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan. The results of the research are There are 5 types of large mammals found through observation and interviews, namely Gibbon (Hylobates albibarbis), Classi (Presbytis baricunda), Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus), Wild boar (Sus barbatus) and Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus). Diversity Index of large mammal species in the UPT Area. Large mammal species diversity index in the UPT area. The Sebangau Peat Forest Nature Laboratory (LAHG) showed that it was classified as low, namely 0.97, the species richness index of large mammals in the UPT area. The Sebangau Peat Forest Nature Laboratory (LAHG) is classified as low, namely 0.96. The low number of individuals found in swamp and lowland habitats is related to the insufficient availability of feed in these habitats. This is caused by environmental conditions, namely peat swamps which are always wet and stagnant. And the index of evenness of large mammal species in the UPT area. The Sebangau Peat Forest Nature Laboratory (LAHG) is classified as high, namely 0.88. This has caused the discovery of mammals in the LAHG area to appear evenly distributed because there is no dominance between each species in the community.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of preferences and characteristics of orangutan nesting sites in Area Punggualas Sebangau National Park, Central Kalimantan using the strip transect method, a path 1 km long and 25 m wide on each side of the right and left lanes. Nest observations were carried out on 10 transects and the distance between transects was ±200 m. Based on observations of the habitat characteristics and preferences of orangutan nest trees (Pongo pygmaeus) in Punggualas, there are 13 tree species that orangutans like, namely Sagagulang, Bintan, Galam Merah, Kajunjung, Mahalilis, Pampaning, Tatumbu, Rasak, Tutup Kabali, Forest Mangosteen, Nyatoh bawui , Uweh, and Tarantang. The physical tree parameters (total tree height, tree diameter, nest height, and nest position) show X2Hitung > X2Tabel, which means that each variable has a relationship with the frequency of finding significant nests for orangutans to be nests.
