Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out how effective whats'app (WA) users are in conveying information among students majoring in communication science at UIN North Sumatra Stambuk 2018. This research uses qualitative research methods using a descriptive approach in their presentation. There are two sources of data used in this study, namely primary and secondary data. The primary data in this study is the result of observing the surroundings, interviews, and documentation. While secondary data is used to compare the theoretical perspective with the results of interview data. The technique of data accumulation (collection) is combined from the results of observations, documentation and interviews from class equipment and 2018 Stambuk Communication Science students at UIN North Sumatra. The data validity test is combined with the data accumulation technique, then analyzed and seen and assessed for the level of validity. Thus, the results of the study showed that the process of using WA in conveying information and communication among IKOM UINSU students was said to be effective and efficient. Where in its use and implementation it is faster to reach the intended person and practical to use, besides that WA is also very Accessibility and Functional. The obstacle that often occurs among students is the internet network which is sometimes slow, for friends who send messages to friends who are far from the city, must have a strong internet signal in order to get information.

Abstract

This study aims to describe non-verbal communication in representing the role of disability in the Satan's Slave 2017 movie by Joko Anwar. The study uses qualitative method analysis techniques with a descriptive approach. The primary data source in this study is the observation of the Satan's Slaves movie, and the secondary data source is used as a study of the theoretical perspective of journals and books. Data were collected using observation techniques. The results of this study indicate that there is non-verbal communication that represents the role of persons with disabilities in the Satan’s Slaves movie, namely: (1) objects, such as bells and wheelchairs; (2) sign language; (3) paralanguage, like gasping voices; and (4) appearance and behavior. Apart from being an entertainment medium, films can also be informative and educational mediums. The Satan’s Slaves movie becomes a medium for discussion that people with disabilities are humans as usual, so people are avoided from carrying out ableism and disablism, which are only based on stereotypes without an obvious basis. And explain the importance of sign language in interacting with deaf people.

Abstract

Beauty Pageant atau sering disebut dengan kontes kecantikan adalah fenomena sosial yang sedang ramai diperbincangkan di publik. Perempuan dan kecantikan, menjadi hal yang sangat berkaitan karena kedua nya menjadi hal yang sulit dipisahkan. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah Setelah dianalisis berdasarkan struktur Framing Sintaksis yang merupakan bagaimana wartawan menysun peristiwa dari pemberitaan terkait Beauty Pageant tidak memihak maupun bertentangan baik dengan personal yang terkait dengan peserta yang ikut didalam kontes kecantikan dan setelah di analisis struktur Framing Skrip yang merupakan pengemasan suatu peristiwa dan kelengkapan berita belum sesuai dengan 5W + 1H sebagai penghubung teks yang ditulis dengan lingkungan komunal pembaca
