Abstract

Iler or jewer kotok is known as an ornamental plant because it has an attractive color and shape, but the research reported that the Iler extracts have secondary metabolite compounds that are beneficial for health recovery, especially relieving wounds, fever, and coughs. In addition, Iler extract can also be an organic insecticide for horticultural crops. The reported of Iler should be cultivated in the yard or agricultural land as an insert between the main crops. The purpose of this activity is to disseminate the benefits, propagation techniques, and processing of Iler into herbs to the symptoms of COVID-19 with the agricultural extension. The results of the benefit extension activities, propagation techniques, and processing of Iler parts for herbs were an understanding and increased knowledge about the benefits of leaf, cultivation techniques, and the stages of young stems for herbs.

Abstract

Student learning activities can be measured by how active students are while studying. A student-centered learning model is needed, especially for courses with no practicum, such as legum technology material, to make the classroom atmosphere more varied. Therefore, this study aims to increase student learning activities using a problem-based learning model in legum technology lecture materials. This research is a class action study conducted in 2 cycles, each consisting of 2 meetings. The research subject comprised 20 students majoring in Agricultural Industrial Technology, Agro-industrial Study Program. The data collection techniques include preserving student learning activities using a problem-based learning model. The results showed that the students learning activity increased with an average per cycle in cycle I of 2.14 and was included in the "sufficient" category with the description of group C, and on average in cycle II increased with the achievement of 2.85 and has been included in the "good" category. This research shows that the problem-based learning model has been proven to improve student learning activities in the classroom. In addition, this research also demonstrates that classroom action research can be carried out in elementary, middle, and high schools and at the college level.

Abstract

Rempah-rempah merupakan tanaman yang banyak ditemukan di Negara Indonesia dan memiliki kandungan serta manfaat yang bermacam-macam. Rempah-rempah selama ini banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai bumbu dapur dan beberapa diolah sebagai minuman untuk menambah daya tahan dan stamina.Tanaman rempah-rempah seperti temulawak, jahe, kunyit, dan sereh banyak ditemukan di daerah Barito Kuala. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Terantang, Kecamatan Mandastana Kabupaten Barito Kuala yang diikuti oleh ibu-ibu warga desa tersebut sebanyak 55 orang. Hasil pendampingan dan sosialisasi menunjukkan antusiame warga dalam mengolah dan memanfaatkan tanaman rempah-rempah menjadi jamu bubuk. Melalui kegiatan ini diharapkan pemanfaatan dan pemberdayaan masyarakat dan ekonomi kreatif dapat mendorong peningkatan kesejahteraan dan kemandirian masyarakat.
