Abstract

This paper studies on RashÄ«d Riḍā’s view on isrāiliyyāt and the Bible in his tafsir al-Manār. As a reformer in the field of exegesis, Riḍā found urgent necessity in returning al-Qur’an to its original purpose which is to give guidance. The problem is that Riḍā saw many authors of exegesis work (mufassir) before him give profuse and unnecessary exegetical discussion. To Riḍā, displaying this kind of lavish information diverts from the original vision of al-Qur’an and cannot be tolerated. In this case, Riḍā resolutely opposes the quotation of isrāiliyyāt. Interestingly, behind this stance, Riḍā quotes the Bible in his work. This becomes the main focus of this study; how Riḍā views isrāiliyyāt and the Bible, what is the essential difference between the two according to Riḍā, and what is the reason behind his quotation of the bible and his opposition against isrāiliyyāt?. To analyze this topic, descriptive-analytical method is used. The result is, it is found that according to Riḍā, isrāiliyyāt are just unfounded stories and not worth quoting. While the Bible in Riḍā’s view is a holy book containing the New and Old Testament the truth of which is believed by the People of the Book themselves. In this case, Riḍā believes that the source worth quoting is only one which is á¹£aḥīḥ and marfū’ from the Prophet. Whenever it has to be from the People of the Book, one should quote from the Bible even though Riḍā himself realizes that there are many oddities in it.

Abstract

Discource about khalq al-Qur`ān (creation of al-Qur`an) is regarded one of the slander that is problematic. This discourse is not only ideological, but also political and has a background of power. This problem caused a debate which had led to bloodshed in the case of Khalid bin Abdullah al-Qisry, al-Ja'd bin Dirham and also the caliphate of al-Makmun. The thought of khalq al-Qur`ān was allegedly derived from Muktazilah. Therefore this article examines the process of takwil of the Muktazilah school regarding khalq al-Qur`an. With a qualitative approach this article concludes that Muktazilah argues that the Qur’an which is the word of Allah is a creature and hādīth (new). According to them, kalam is a certain editor that arises from the arrangement of letters which can be both understood and heard. On the other hand Muktazilah also argues that the word of Allah is not azalī (the age before everything existed). Their logic is that if Allah's word is azalī, when Allah was speaking, was not accompanied by the interlocutor, and this is irrational.

Abstract

The Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad is an inseparable relationship with the interpretation of the Qur'an. For this reason, the best product of interpretation is the interpretation of the historical interpretation method. The product of the interpretation of the Qur'an in all of the commentaries turned out to be all found to have sham interpretations, although with different percentages. The biggest problem with this discovery is that the result of interpretation is an understanding that is considered absolute truth for the reader so ignorant teaching becomes a belief that is definitely true. Dakhil in the interpretation is a serious problem that must be resolved because it is considered a barrier to the progress of Islam. Furthermore, Islam will be accused by its enemies of being a religion whose teachings are sourced from lies and superstition. Although the source of interpretation is divided into two, namely the source of the history and the interpreter's mind. This research focuses on Islamic methodology in ensuring that the sources of hadith and history as an inseparable relationship with the Qur'an, are guaranteed authentic and can be accounted for. So this study aims to unravel the problem of dakhil in interpretation that comes from hadith and history. Hadiths and narrations originating from the Prophet Muhammad, companions, tabi'in and the history of Israel have different classifications of status to be used as religious teachings. So that the interpretation of the Qur'an is not always considered as the Qur'an itself.

Abstract

Turath is the product of Muslim thoughts from generation to generation, and the Turath should be legitimized. The legitimacy of truth is crucial to confirm the validity of the tradition. Since its source is other than the Qur'an and hadith, Turath is still debatable. Turath criticism is part of the attitude that must be done for the legitimacy of Turath. This practice has the potential to be non-Islamic. Among the Turath practices that need to be legitimized by legal arguments is the method of reading Yasin Fadhilah at the Al-Anwar III Islamic Boarding School. This study of the legitimacy of Yasin Fadhilah's practice uses the views of Ibn 'Ashur with his maqasid shari'ah theory. Research from the maqasid shari'ah perspective will accomplish the view of making law from all sides. Yasin Fadhilah is a tradition of praying with the intermediary of a Yasin chapter carried out based on orders from a teacher from the ahlul-bait of the Prophet Muhammad. From the perspective of Maqasid Shari'ah, the practice of reading the chapter is legal in Islamic law, even though it is included in the Tahsiniyyāt category.
