Abstract

Andisols have low phosporus availability because of amorphous (non-crystalline) of high allophane. This problem may be overcome by application of organic materials and utilization of phosphate solubilizing microbes such as Aspergillus niger. This fungi can facilitate phosphate bound Al and Fe to soluble and available to plants. The objective of this study were to explore the influence of Aspergillus niger and chicken broiler manure on the avaibility and P uptake by maize at grown on an Andisol. This study used a simple randomized design with six treatments, i.e. PK1 (control), PK2 (3.5 t ha-1 chicken broiler manure + 10 mL Aspergillus niger with the density is 109 propagul mL-1, PK3 (3.5 t ha-1 chicken broiler manure + 20 mL Aspergillus niger with the density is 109 propagul mL-1), PK4 (3.5 t ha-1 chicken broiler manure + 30 mL Aspergillus niger with the density is 109 propagul mL-1), PK5 (3.5 t ha-1 chicken broiler manure + 40 mL Aspergillus niger with the density is 109 propagul mL-1), PK6 (3.5 t ha-1 chicken broiler manure + 50 mL Aspergillus niger with the density is 109 propagul mL-1), with three replicates. Results of this study showed that chicken broiler manure and Aspergillus niger could increase P-availability and P-uptake by maize in an Andisol. The most effectives dose of Aspergillus niger was 50 mL with density 109 propagul mL-1..

Abstract

Banana peel contains 15% potassium and 12% phosphorus more than the flesh of the fruit, so it is potential to be used as organic fertilizer. Utilization of waste of banana peel can improve the availability of K, K uptake and production of onion plants in Alfisols. This study used a completely randomized design with 8 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were combinations of banana peel compost tea and KCl. The results showed there were significant differences in any parameter. Best result for availability K was a combination of 100% compost tea and 50% KCl amount of 0.88 cmol kg-1. Onion bulbs could absorb K for 20.88 mg plant-1 on the treatment of 00%  compost tea and 50% KCl. The dry weight of bulb produced by the treatment of 100% compost tea banana peel and 50% KCl was 31.16 g plant-1. K availability and K uptake by bulbs had a very strong relationship

Abstract

Mustard production at Tulungrejo Village, Bumiaji District of Batu City has decreased due to low N fertilization efficiency ands low content of N in the soil. Based on the terms of the problem need to be solved and found a solution that is applicable to the use of zeolite as a companion to the fertilizer N. This study was aimed to find out the effect of application of natural zeolit on N fertilization for mustard grown on an Inceptisol from Tulungrejo Village, Bumiaji District of Batu City The results showed that treatment of urea and zeolite (1:1) was capable to produce efficiency of N fertilization with increased of 32.56% compared with urea treatment. Besides the treatment of urea and zeolite (1:1) was capable to produce the highest production with an increase of 15.03% compared with urea treatment.

Abstract

Alfisol is a soil having problems related to low pH, organic C and nutrient availability. Application of organic fertilizer may increase nutrient availability and plant growth. The purposes of this study were to determine the effect of the decomposition rate of liquid organic fertilizer of tofu waste to N and S on the soil, and to determine the effect of the decomposition rate of liquid organic fertilizer of tofu waste on uptake N and S in maize. This study used a completely randomized design with nine treatments and three replications. The results showed significant effects of the application liquid organic fertilizer of tofu waste on the pH, C-organic, total N, plant height, and leaf number. Application of liquid organic fertilizer of tofu waste previously decomposed for two days (P2 treatment) showed the best results at the beginning and end of the analysis. The total N at the P2 treatment increased 50% compared to the control treatment in the beginning of soil analysis and 23.51% in the end of the soil analysis. Application of liquid organic fertilizer of tofu waste gave no significant effect on N and S uptake by maize. Application of liquid organic fertilizer of tofu waste previously decomposed for twelve days (P7 treatment) gave the best results with an increase in N uptake by 107.62% compared to the control treatment.

Abstract

Industrial development grows rapidly nowadays, especially industries that support human life. In other side, every industry pays less attention for the system of disposing wastes such as oyster mushroom media waste and tofu liquid waste. This study was aimed to determine the effect of organic material application (oyster mushroom plant media waste and tofu liquid waste) through incubation toward availability of P, K, Ca, Mg, and Na in an Andisol of Cangar, Batu.  Treatments tested in this study were J1 (100% oyster mushroom compost), JC2 (75% oyster mushroom compost + 25% of tofu liquid waste), JC3 (50% oyster mushroom compost + 50% of tofu liquid waste), JC4 (25% oyster mushroom compost + 75% of tofu liquid waste), and C5 (100% of tofu liquid waste). The six treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with three replicates. The results showed that application of 75% oyster mushroom compost + 25% tofu liquid waste (JC2) increased better soil K-availability and CEC until eighth-observations than the other treatments. Application of  50% oyster mushroom compost + 50% tofu liquid waste (C5) increased the amount of Mg-available from low criteria (0,56 mg/100g) into moderate criteria (1,30 mg/100g) compared with observation control.

Abstract

Inceptisols are young soils that have undergone further development are characterized by low nitrogen content, low organic matter contend, and low pH. Fertilizer application is therefore needed to improve fertility of the soils. Tea waste that is easily found at home or factories can be used as organic fertilizer to supply nutrient elements in the soil. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the influence of application of combined compost (mixture of tea waste, cow dung and goat dung) on N uptake by leek plant (Allium fistulosum L.). Eight treatments (control, 5%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, and 150% compost) were arranged in a completely randomized design with three replicates. The results showed that application of combined compost of tea waste, cow dung and goat dung significantly affected soil pH, soil organic carbon, soil total N, N uptake by plant, plant growth and plant yield. The highest N uptake by plant was observed for treatment 100% compost application (9.1 t ha-1) that yielding 114.62 mg plant-1, while the lowest N uptake was found on the control treatment that yielding only 54.98 mg plant-1.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to show effects of  zeolit application toward efficiency of P fertilizer, P absorbtion and sweet corn growth. This study was conducted at farmer’s land in Bugul Kidul Sub District, Pasuruan of East Java. This study used a randomized block design consisting of twelve treatments with three repetitions. The treatments tested were 0 t zeolit ha-1 (A0),  4.65 t zeolite  ha-1 (A1), 9.3 t zeolite ha-1 (A2), 0 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F0), 75 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F1), 150 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F2), and 225 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F3). The results showed that zeolite influenced the efficiency of P fertilization. The extending of 9.6 t zeolite ha-1 with combination of 150 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 had efficiency of P fertilization of 65 %. The utilizing of 9.3 t zeolite ha-1 and 150 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 increased plant height up to 34.8 %, plant fresh weight increased up to 95.7 % and plant dry weight up to 98 %. Those results showed that application of zeolite improved P fertilization efficiency, P absorbtion and sweet corn growth

Abstract

KCl is an inorganic fertilizer needed by maize plant for photosynthesis processes, vegetative crop growth, improving yield in the forms of flower and fruit. The purpose in this study was to understand the effect of KCl on soil N, P, and K, and nutrient uptake by maize plant.  Treatments tested in this study were P0 = control; P1 = KCl 100 (from Canada); P2 = KCl 25 (froml Rusia); P3 = KCl 50 (from Rusia); P4 = KCl 75 (from Rusia); P5 = KCl 100 (from Rusia); P6 = KCl 125 (from Rusia); P7 = KCl 150 (from Rusia). Each treatment was supplied with Urea 350 kg ha-1 and SP-36 250 kg ha-1 as basal fertilizers. Results of this study showed that that application of different doses of KCl fertilizer significantly affected maize yield as well as N, P, and K uptake by maize. The highest dry seed yield of 6.97 t ha-1 was observed for the P5 treatment. The highest N uptake of 34.68 kg ha-1 was observed for the P1 treatment, the highest P uptake of 8.58 kg ha-1 was on the P7 treatment, and the highest K uptake of 23.38 kg ha-1 was on the P7 treatment. Application of KCl fertilizer resulted in residual N, K and P that ranging from 0.0769-0.0821%, 64.24-104.44 ppm, and 0.261-0.326%, respectively

Abstract

Inceptisol is one of new developing land which is widespread in Indonesia, with the content of N is relatively low. An increase in the utilization of the content Inceptisol nutrient as agricultural land needed. Compost is organic material which decomposed by microorganisms decomposing, so it can be utilized by plants. The manufacture of compost affect the nutrient compost content. Three basic composting chosen materials are: 1) Paitan, Ferns, and Goat manure. The purpose of this study are: 1) Determine the N content in compost difference material composition ratio of Paitan, Ferns and Goat Dung. 2) Determine the effectiveness of N uptake of maize on the difference material composition compost ratio in Inceptisol. The study was conducted with 5 treatments 3 replications namely: TK0 (control), TK1 (soil + 171 g poly-1), TK2 (soil + 326 g poly-1), TK3 (330 g poly-1), and TK4 (328 g polybag-1).The research results showed that the highest N content by composting material composition of Paitan, Plant Spikes and goat manure in the 1: 2: 3 ratio (K1) with 2.99% of N total. Application of compost to the material composition ratio 3: 1: 2 (K3) showed the highest influence on the total soil N-beginning and end of 0.27% at 0 HST and 0.31% at 60 HST. Compost K3 also provides the most excellent effect on N uptake by plant uptake value of 12.9 g-1. And affect the growth of plants as well as high-Organic C content in analytical beginning nor end

Abstract

One of mining activities in Sukabumi and Bogor is gold mining. This activity uses mercury amalgamation techniques that generate tailings containing mercury. The tailing that is commonly dischared to the environment can affect human healths. One method to solve this problem is phytoremediation. Vetiveria zizanioides L. is one of the hyperaccumulator plants that can uptake mercury. This study was aimed to explore the effects of application of Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid (EDTA) and compost on uptake of merkuri Vetiveria zizanioides L. Nine treatments (combination of EDTA and compost doses) were tested in his study. Results of the study showed that the combination of compost and EDTA increased the uptake of mercury by Vetiveria zizanioides. Addition of EDTA increased 178% of mercury uptake. Application of compost was able to increase mercury concentration in root by 108% and in canopy by 165%, and increased soil pH, and cation exchange capacity.
