Abstract

Mustard production at Tulungrejo Village, Bumiaji District of Batu City has decreased due to low N fertilization efficiency ands low content of N in the soil. Based on the terms of the problem need to be solved and found a solution that is applicable to the use of zeolite as a companion to the fertilizer N. This study was aimed to find out the effect of application of natural zeolit on N fertilization for mustard grown on an Inceptisol from Tulungrejo Village, Bumiaji District of Batu City The results showed that treatment of urea and zeolite (1:1) was capable to produce efficiency of N fertilization with increased of 32.56% compared with urea treatment. Besides the treatment of urea and zeolite (1:1) was capable to produce the highest production with an increase of 15.03% compared with urea treatment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to show effects of  zeolit application toward efficiency of P fertilizer, P absorbtion and sweet corn growth. This study was conducted at farmer’s land in Bugul Kidul Sub District, Pasuruan of East Java. This study used a randomized block design consisting of twelve treatments with three repetitions. The treatments tested were 0 t zeolit ha-1 (A0),  4.65 t zeolite  ha-1 (A1), 9.3 t zeolite ha-1 (A2), 0 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F0), 75 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F1), 150 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F2), and 225 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F3). The results showed that zeolite influenced the efficiency of P fertilization. The extending of 9.6 t zeolite ha-1 with combination of 150 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 had efficiency of P fertilization of 65 %. The utilizing of 9.3 t zeolite ha-1 and 150 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 increased plant height up to 34.8 %, plant fresh weight increased up to 95.7 % and plant dry weight up to 98 %. Those results showed that application of zeolite improved P fertilization efficiency, P absorbtion and sweet corn growth

Abstract

One of mining activities in Sukabumi and Bogor is gold mining. This activity uses mercury amalgamation techniques that generate tailings containing mercury. The tailing that is commonly dischared to the environment can affect human healths. One method to solve this problem is phytoremediation. Vetiveria zizanioides L. is one of the hyperaccumulator plants that can uptake mercury. This study was aimed to explore the effects of application of Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid (EDTA) and compost on uptake of merkuri Vetiveria zizanioides L. Nine treatments (combination of EDTA and compost doses) were tested in his study. Results of the study showed that the combination of compost and EDTA increased the uptake of mercury by Vetiveria zizanioides. Addition of EDTA increased 178% of mercury uptake. Application of compost was able to increase mercury concentration in root by 108% and in canopy by 165%, and increased soil pH, and cation exchange capacity.

Abstract

Artisanal Small Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) in Jampang Kulon produces tailing waste that contains heavy metals harmful to the environment. The taining, however, still contains gold metal (Au). Phytomining can be a solution in environmentally friendly gold mining by planting hyperakumulator plants on tailings and then extract its biomass. To increase the accumulation of gold in plant biomass, fertilizer is needed to enhance plants growth and chelate is necessary to increase the solubility of Au. This research aimed to know the effect of ammonium thiosulphate and compost on Au accumulation in vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides L.) grown on tailings. This research used a completely randomized design with two factors, the dose of compost ; T0 (2.5 kg polybag-1), T1 (1.25 kg polybag-1), T2 (0 kg polybag-1) and the dose of ammonium thiosulphate ; K0 (0 g kg-1), K1 (5 g kg-1), K2 (10 g kg-1). The results showed that the addition of 10 g ammonium thiosulphate kg-1 significantly increased the accumulation of Au by 46% in plant roots and 35% in plant shoot related to control. While the addition of 1.25 kg compost polybag-1 could increase the accumulation of Au by 39% in plant roots.

Abstract

Mustard is a kind of vegetable that is favored by the public. Liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) mixture of leaves of gamal, chicken manure, and coconut water has a high nitrogen content, so they can increase the nitrogen needed by mustard planted on sandy soil. The purposes of this study were (i) to test the influence of nitrogen absorption LOF deployment against mustard plants, and (ii) to analyse the application influence of LOF deployment against the chemical properties of soil and growth and yield of mustard plant. This study used a randomized completely design with twelve treatments and three replicates. The treatments were as follows: without LOF or watering with tap water as a control (A0), LOF with watering every 2 days (I1), LOF withwatering every 4 days (I2), and LOF with watering every 6 days (I3), LOF 0% dose concentration (P0), LOF 50% dose concentration (P1), LOF 100% dose concentration (P2), and LOF 150% dose concentration (P3). The result showed that application of liquid organic fertilizer significantly affected pH, organic-C, total-N, Uptake of N, and towards growth and yield of mustard plant. The the best yield was in the I2P2 treatment
