Abstract

VCO or Virgin Coconut Oil is a high-quality crude oil extract formed from coconut without chemical compound addition or high-temperature heating. The differences between VCO and other coconut oil are commercial coconut oil produced from copra or dried coconut meat. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a method used to assess a product based on its lifespan, starting from extracting raw materials for the product to the industrial manufacturing process to product distribution. This LCA aims to implement zero waste on VCO Production by using wasted coconut water in some product that has economic value. We suggest a solution for coconut water waster with two alternatives, namely nata de coco production and coconut shell charcoal. Options to improve environmental quality were selected based on wastewater parameters and the resulting CO2 equivalent.

Abstract

The waste from the river is one of the obstacles in managing the Bengawan Solo River, Surakarta City. River debris is usually collected in tributaries so as not to carry the pollutant load to the watershed, causing flooding, and then transported to the Final Processing Site (TPA). This study aims to analyze the waste transportation system from the source to the landfill. This research was conducted by direct observation and using Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) for determination. Alternative waste transportation used are haul container system (HCS) and stationary container system (SCS). The criteria used are the number of ritations, price, ease of transportation, potential damage, maintenance, and type of container. Based on the weighting results on the MAUT analysis, transportation with the SCS method has a higher weight than the HCS method.
