Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve students' mathematical concepts through improving communication skills and students' mathematical dispositions using Discovery Learning assisted by Cabri Express. This research is development research using the 4-D development model, which consists of the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate phases. The subjects in this study were 18 students. Data collection techniques in this study used the instrument questions given in the form of written tests, while the data analysis techniques in this study were data collection, data processing, data presentation, and concluding. So that the conclusions that can be drawn from this study are Cabri Express assisted teaching materials on flat plane material developed using three stages, namely define, design, and develop. Teaching materials have been validated with an average value of 87.3% with very valid and very practical criteria. Thus, the Cabri Express-assisted Discovery Learning teaching material on flat-sided spatial construction material is feasible to use. Furthermore, the teaching materials developed received a positive response from students with a percentage of 76% in the "interesting" category. Students' mathematical communication ability is 74% and students' mathematical disposition is 76% in the Good category. This proves that using teaching materials based on discovery learning assisted by Cabri Express improves students' communication skills and mathematical dispositions.

The type of research used is a type of development research using the 4-D development model. The 4-D development model consists of the Define, design, develop, and disseminate phases. This study only reached the development stage. The research subjects were class XI SMA Negeri 2 Toma students. The instruments used were material expert and media expert validation sheets as well as student response practicality sheets and mathematical problem-solving ability tests. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it is found that the analysis of the validation results of material experts is 3.65 with a percentage of 73.06% in the valid category, and media expert validation is 4.08 with a percentage of 81.67% in the valid category. In the limited test, analysis of the results of the practicality sheet of 10 students obtained an average percentage of 73.73% in the practical category, and in the broad test of 29 students obtained an average percentage of 89.33% in the very practical category. In the effectiveness test, it was found that 71.25% was in  good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the linear program teaching materials based on problem-based learning assisted by the GeoGebra application meet valid and practical criteria and are suitable for use in learning, and can be effective in facilitating mathematical problem-solving skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop three-dimensional teaching materials using Geogebra-assisted discovery learning models that are valid, practical, and effective. The research method used is development using the ADDIE model, in this study it only reached the development stage, the research instrument used was material expert and media expert validation sheets as well as student response practicality sheets and ability tests in the form of tests in the form of exam questions as many as 5 questions. The research subjects for the limited test were 10 students of class 12-IPA-7. For the broad test, there were 37 students in class 12-IPS-1. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it was found that the analysis of the validation results of material experts was 4.21 with a percentage of 84.11% in the very valid category and media expert validation was 4.19 with a percentage of 83, 79% in very valid category. In the limited test, analysis of the results of the practicality sheet of 10 students obtained an average percentage of 69.17% in the practical category and in the broad test of 37 students obtained an average percentage of 83.76% in the very practical category. In the effectiveness test it was obtained that 81.05% were in the Very Good criteria. Thus, the three-dimensional teaching materials using the geogebra-assisted discovery learning model are eligible to meet valid and practical criteria for use in learning mathematics. In the effectiveness test it was obtained that 81.05% were in the Very Good criteria.

Abstract

Mathematical understanding is a very important aspect and the basis for students' mathematical abilities, but the fact is that mathematical understanding is still difficult for students to do. Based on the results of initial observations found problems in learning mathematics, such as students still having difficulty in (a) applying mathematical concepts, (b) students do not play an active role in the learning process, (c) teachers still use the lecture method. As a result, students do not understand the subject matter well. So from this the purpose of this study was to develop a quizziz-assisted sequence and series module to measure students' mathematical understanding abilities. The research subjects were class XII students. The research method uses R D level 1 is research and development where this research will develop and validate products without product deployment. The indicators of mathematical understanding used are: (1) identifying the concepts studied, (2) predicting a problem using the sequence concept, (3) developing the concepts studied, (4) proving understanding of a concept, (5) applying the formula to cases simple. The instruments used were tests and non-tests. The test instrument is in the form of questions and non-tests in the form of a student attitude scale questionnaire. From the results of data processing, it was obtained from ICT experts getting a score of 85.12% which was categorized as very valid, from material experts getting a score of 79.5% which was categorized as valid, the practical category got a score of 76% which was categorized as practical and the effective category averaged 68.5% which in the good category.

Abstract

Referring to the objectives of learning mathematics and NCTM, one of the abilities that must be developed is the ability to understand mathematics. The importance of having the ability to understand mathematics includes this ability listed in the learning of mathematics in the 2006 KTSP mathematics curriculum and the 2013 curriculum. This study aims to examine the increased understanding  of the material concept of derivatives of algebraic functions in class XI high school students. This type of research is classroom action research. This research was conducted on class XI high school students for the 2020/2021 academic year, consisting of 16 students. The instrument used is a test of students' mathematical understanding abilities, in the form of 6 questions that focus more on students' understanding abilities regarding the derivative of algebraic functions; observation sheet for teachers and students to see the condition of the implementation of the action. This study shows that students' mathematical understanding abilities have increased as seen from the questions tested on each test with an increase in mastery from initially 31.25% to 56.25%. The results of this study indicate that the application of a scientific approach can improve the comprehension skills of class XI students on material derived from algebraic functions.

Abstract

The reality on the ground shows that students still make mistakes in solving problems in the form of Linear Program stories. This study aims to describe students' mistakes in solving word problems in linear programming material. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were class X students of Karya Bahana Vocational School, Bekasi City. The instrument in this study was in the form of 5 questions in the form of descriptions. In addition to the instrument in the form of tests, interviews were used to dig deeper into students' answers to the questions presented. The results showed that the most errors made by students were in the aspect of errors in writing the final answers, and the fewest errors were in the aspects of transformation errors. The cause of reading errors is that students are unable to interpret sentences correctly and cannot find key words and important information. The cause of the error in understanding the problem was that students did not include the known data and the data asked. The causes of errors in the transformation are students not being able to model everyday sentences into mathematical symbols and errors in using mathematical operations. The cause of the process skill error was that the student was unable to write down the objective function and the student was unable to continue with the answer, while the cause of the error in writing the final solution was the inability of the student to draw conclusions correctly.
