Abstract

Peningkatan konsumsi bahan bakar minyak terjadi setiap tahunnya, hal ini disebabkan oleh peningkatan jumlah penduduk. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, dikembangkan bahan bakar alternatif seperti bioetanol. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen untuk menganalisis unjuk kerja motor SI silinder tunggal berbahan bakar campuran bioetanol. Bioetanol dihasilkan dari nira tebu melalui fermentasi dengan bantuan bakteri Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Komposisi campuran bahan bakar yang digunakan adalah 5% bioetanol+95% Premium (Ron 88), 5% bioetanol+95% Pertalite (Ron 90) dan 5% bioetanol+95% Pertamax (Ron 92) yang kemudian dianalisis kinerja genset motor bensin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Premium sebesar 240,9 W memperoleh daya tertinggi dari campuran bioetanol. Konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik berkurang, diperoleh untuk Premium sebesar 1,417 kg/Wh, dan daya campuran bioetanol tertinggi diperoleh untuk Pertalite. Hasilnya menunjukkan daya tertinggi 218,67 W dan torsi 0,803 Nm. Efisiensi termal diperoleh sebesar 38,711% untuk Pertalite. Campuran bioetanol Pertamax memiliki tenaga dan torsi masing-masing 220 W dan 0,875 Nm. Sedangkan nilai konsumsi bahan bakar yang diperoleh adalah 1,573 kg/Wh, dan efisiensi termal campuran adalah 42,524%. Hasil dari penelitian ini akan memberikan wawasan tentang potensi penggunaan campuran bioetanol untuk aplikasi mesin generator dan menawarkan jalur untuk penelitian selanjutnya dalam rasio bioetanol yang berbeda untuk mewujudkan manfaat signifikan dari mesin generator untuk mesin pembakaran dalam.

Abstract

Globally, the demand for fuels is ever-increasing and so is the demand for fuel additives. A fuel additive is a substance added in small quantities to increase the performance of the engine, decrease fuel consumption and reduce emission. The fuel additives have no specific set of raw materials or ingredients. Every fuel additive is different from the other in many ways of raw materials and ingredients to produce these additives. In many cases, fuel additives have made by chemical materials as additives for a gasoline engine. However, the optimal parameters for the reduction of fuel consumption are not clear. Accordingly, the present study performs a mixing additive material in the form of clove oil with pure gasoline fuel with a percentage of 1%, 0,6% and 0,3% from a total volume of gasoline to be tested. Then the mixing of the additive and gasoline is tested into the gasoline engine by varying the load using 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800 and 2000 Watt power with a fixed engine rotation of 2500 rpm. The results show that the reduction of fuel consumption respectively. Results showed that the addition of 1%, 0.6% and 0.3% clove oil into a 90 octane gasoline reduced fuel consumption by 10.6%, 18.2% and 15.4% respectively. Maximum reduction of fuel consumption was 28.6% at 800 W electrical load with 0.6% of clove oil additive.

Abstract

The increase in fuel prices makes the use of essential oils as a natural bio-additive in diesel engines much in demand. This is because essential oils are believed to have good content to improve engine performance and reduce fuel consumption. In this research, essential oils used are citronella oil because they contain carboxylic compounds (-COOH) and clove oil which has the advantage to prevent corrosion. The aim is to improve engine performance and reduce fuel consumption can also prevent corrosion. This research was conducted by mixing citronella oil and clove oil with diesel fuel with a percentage of 1%, 0.5%, and 0.1% of the total volume. The diesel engine is operated with a loading variation of 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800, and 2000 W at a constant engine speed of 1500 rpm. The variables measured and calculated in this experiment are power, torque, Brake Mean Effective Pressure (BMEP), Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC). The results showed that the addition of citronella oil and clove oil to diesel fuel with a percentage of 0.1%, 0.5%, and 1% significantly reduced fuel consumption by 14.6%, 12.9%, and 18.3%, respectively. The maximum fuel reduction from mixed oils is only 0.086 liters/hour at 1000W loads with 1% bio-additives content.

Abstract

The consumption of diesel fuel in Indonesia is increasing every year, one way to overcome this problem is to use natural bioaditive in the form of essential oils found in Indonesia. Essential oils used in this study are fragrant lemongrass because fragrant lemongrass contains carboxylic compounds (-COOH) [1,2,3]. With the aim of improving engine performance and reducing fuel consumption. This research was conducted by mixing fragrant citronella oil with diesel oil with a percentage of 1%, 0.5% and 0.1% of the total volume. Diesel engines are operated with variations in loading 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800 and 2000 W at a constant engine speed of 1500 rpm. The variables measured and calculated in this experiment are power, torque, Break Mean Effective Pressure (BMEP), Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC). The results showed that adding citronella oil to diesel fuel with a percentage of 1%, 0.5% and 0.1% significantly reduced fuel consumption by 15.5%, 3.6% and 2.6% respectively. The maximum reduction in fuel consumption reaches 0.055 liters / hour at 200W loading with a bioaditive level of 0.1%. The next study planned is to mix clove oil and citronella oil as bioaditive so that it is expected to reduce fuel consumption and engine corrosion. Abstract

Many researchers have begun to evaluate the characteristics of the wind to be the mainstay of energy utilized for power generation. Various countries have started to conduct research of analysis the characteristics of wind potential in certain areas. In this study, wind speed data is be measured in the South Lampung. The maximum and minimum wind speed average in one day is 4.2 knot (from east to west direction) and 0.9 knot (from west to east direction), respectively. The sensor of wid speed is located at 10 meter height from ground. The results show that the maximum wind speed can reach 3 m/s at a height of 10 m on August and December. Moreover, the most wind direction during July to December goes to WSW (West SouthernWest) and SSE (South SouthernEast).

Abstract

Setiap tahunnya kebutuhan dunia akan energi terus bertambah tetapi ketersediaan akan energi fosil terus mengalami penurunan. Hal ini yang mendorong perlunya energi baru dan terbarukan untuk mensubstitusikan energi fosil tersebut agar dapat mengurangi penggunaannya. Salah satu alternatif yaitu dengan penggunaan minyak nabati dari crude palm oil yang dimana minyak nabati tersebut dibuat melalui proses transesterifikasi terlebih dahulu agar viskositas pada minyak nabati mendekati nilai viskositas pada minyak diesel yang terbuat dari fosil tersebut. Pada penelitian tugas akhir ini akan membahas tentang analisa perbandingan unjuk kerja motor diesel satu silinder dengan putaran motor sebesar 1000 rpm hingga 2000 rpm dengan interval setiap kenaikan 200 rpm dan daya konstan 1500 Watt berbahan bakar pertamina dex murni dan campuran antara pertamina dex dengan minyak nabati yang telah diformulasikan yaitu MS10, MS20, MS30, dan MS40 melalui proses transesterifikasi menggunakan katalis basa homogen. Didapatkan hasil nilai unjuk kerja motor terbaik pada variasi bahan bakar pertamina dex dengan nilai berurut-turut 0,729 Hp; 32,500 kg.cm; 0,587 kg/Hp.jam; 0,029; dan 0,285 kPa. Yang disusul oleh bahan bakar MS40, sedangkan nilai unjuk kerja motor terburuk pada variais bahan bakar MS10.
