Abstract

Education is one of those affected by Covid-19, so students carry out the learning process from home and the role of parents is demanded more so that they can develop science in children. The socioeconomic status of parents is very important in supporting facilities for learning and developing children's science. This study aims to describe the contribution of parents' socioeconomic background during the Covid-19 period to children's scientific development. This study uses a descriptive correlational quantitative method with 94 respondents as parents of children in Kindergarten, Bukik Barisan District. Data analysis was performed using the regression method using dummy variables with SPSS 26 software. The instrument was validated using expert judgment techniques and the reliability test showed Cronbach's Alpha 0.872. The research findings show that learning outcomes based on (1) parental occupation and income are in the good category, (2) the contribution of parents' work to the development of science is 3.7%, (3) the contribution of parents' income to the development of science is 9.3%, (4) the contribution of work and income of parents to the development of science is 14.7%, (5) overall, work and income contribute to the development of children's science.

Abstract

Children integrate with various digital technologies in everyday life and become their users. This study aims to determine the application of communication science technology in early childhood language learning at Perwad Aur Duri Kindergarten in Padang Timur. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with data collection techniques using interview and observation methods. The subjects in this study were children, totaling 3 educators and 52 children. Based on the results of interviews that have been conducted at Perwad Kindergarten the learning process uses communication science technology as a supporting tool in children's language learning. The learning activities carried out by the teacher's language learning display pictures, video words and practice videos as well as words and sounds. Meanwhile, based on observations, some teachers have implemented and practiced information and communication technology tools to make it easier for child participants to find information, especially in language. Based on the conclusions from the research above, it is identified that the application of communication information technology in Perwad Aur Duri Kindergarten in East Padang

Abstract

Professional teachers are teachers who have basic competence within themselves. But most of what happens is still not aware of the importance of competence for teachers. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the professional competence of 21st-century teachers and children's science abilities based on their accreditation. Thus, it can be seen the connection between accreditation and the professional competence of PAUD teachers in children's science abilities. The type of research used in this study is quantitative, using correlational methods. Data collection is done by using a questionnaire. It can be seen that with A accreditation with the achievement of children's natural science abilities for problem-solving abilities with a score of 25%, 28% logical thinking, 22% receiving information, and 25% language skills can see and conclude that the professionalism of teachers in educating children in every learning activity has to keep up with the times. Meanwhile, with schools accredited C, it can be seen that scientific ability is 23%, logical thinking is 29%, information reception is 14%, and language skills are 32%. This can be interpreted as scientific ability with a standard level of achievement in learning activities because educators have not applied it professionally in activities with children. It can be concluded that the competence possessed by a teacher who teaches at a school with different accreditation also has further treatment in the learning process. That way, developing science skills is closely related to teacher professionalism so children can develop their science abilities.
