Abstract

ABSTRAK              Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan kondisi udara masuk terhadap kondisi udara keluaran air cooler. Selain itu juga untuk mendapatkan nilai efektivitas rata rata air cooler. Suhu udara masuk divariasikan, tetapi memiliki kelembapan spesifik w yang sama. Proses penurunan suhu udara, terjadi pada saat udara melewati beberapa cooling pad yang permukaannya dialiri air. Proses pendinginan udara diasumsikan berjalan secara evaporative cooling. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen, dengan mempergunakan air cooler buatan sendiri. Untuk suhu udara masuk berturut turut: 30oC, 35oC, 40oC dan 45oC, dihasilkan suhu udara keluaran berturut turut sebesar 26,27oC, 27,66oC, 29,10oC, 30,9 oC dengan efektivitas rata rata  air cooler 89,5%.  ABSTRACT           This study aims to see the relationship between the intake air conditions and the air cooler outlet air conditions. In addition, to get the value of the effectiveness of the air cooler. The intake air temperature is varied, but has the same specific humidity W. The process of decreasing the air temperature occurs when the air passes through several cooling pads whose surface is flooded with water. The air cooling process is assumed to run by evaporative cooling. The research was conducted experimentally, using a homemade air cooler. For the inlet air temperature in a row: 30oC, 35oC, 40oC and 45oC, the resulting output air temperature is 26,27oC, 27,66oC, 29,10oC, 30,9 oC with the average effectiveness of the air cooler 89,5%.

Abstract

This paper discusses an air cooler that works with a steam compression cycle. This equipment can be used as a replacement for an air-cooler, an air-cooler that works with evaporative cooling. The refrigerant used is R134a. The main components of the vapor compression cycle consist of: compressor, evaporator, condenser, and capillary tube. The total electric power of the air cooler is 148 watt. If the intake air temperature is 30oC with RH 70% and the intake air flow rate is 2.13 m/s, then this air cooler can produce air with a temperature of 25.2 oC and RH 93%. The COP of this air cooler is 2.47. Research can be developed by lowering the working temperature of the evaporator or the working temperature of the condenser.
