Abstract

Student problem solving needs to be profiled so that teachers can get an idea of the process students are doing in solving problems. This study aims to describe the problem solving profile of algebraic forms of grade VII C students of SMP Negeri 1 Toribulu in terms of learning style. Data on students' learning styles are obtained by providing learning style questionnaires, while data on solving students' mathematical problems are obtained by written assignments and interviews. The results of this study show that (1) The profile of solving mathematical problems of subjects with a visual learning style, namely SV, understands problems by writing down known and asked things from the questions neatly and regularly and can explain the information known and asked from the questions in full, plan solutions appropriately, carry out completion plans and re-examine the answers that have been done. (2) The subject's mathematical problem-solving profile with an auditorial learning style is that SA understands the problem by reading aloud, writes down the known but does not write down the question, plans the solution appropriately, implements the completion plan and performs the steps of re-examining. (3) The profile of solving mathematical problems of the subject with a kinesthetic learning style, namely SK understands the problem by reading using finger instructions, drawing up a settlement plan appropriately, implementing the completion plan properly and correctly and re-examining the answers made.

Abstract

The integration of ICT in learning is a component of 21st-century learning. Science and technology always develop rapidly from time to time.  The purpose of this study is to determine the knowledge and abilities of junior high school mathematics teachers in STEM learning. This research was also conducted to determine student knowledge related to STEM learning. This study used a mixed method. The results showed that most junior high school mathematics teachers in the Donggala district did not understand STEM/STEAM learning. The teacher has also not been able to apply the STEM/STEAM approach in the learning process. Therefore, it is hoped that mathematics teachers in the Donggala district can apply a STEAM-based approach combined with local wisdom in the Donggala district. And it is necessary to conduct training to improve teacher competencies related to STEM learning.
