Abstract

Mathematical literacy is one of the needs of students to prepare themselves to be part of society in the future. Not only that, you are also required to be able to solve problems through higher order thinking skills (HOTS). The purpose of this research is to analyze students' mathematical literacy abilities in solving HOTS questions on circle material. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research subjects came from class VIII, which consisted of 32 students. Collecting data in this study was carried out through written tests and interviews. Checking the validity of the data using the triangulation technique compared the acquisition of interviews and tests. In conducting data analysis, it is divided into three components, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the research results, all indicators of mathematical literacy have been achieved by students with high mathematical abilities. Meanwhile, students who have moderate mathematical abilities have achieved communication indicators, problem solving strategies, and representations. Finally, students who have low mathematical abilities have achieved indicators of problem solving and representation strategies. Therefore, the use of this research is to find out students' mathematical literacy abilities and to design better learning activities to increase students' mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze students' mathematical literacy abilities in solving High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions on circle material. The second stage is an interview with 7 questions that have been adjusted to indicators of mathematical literacy. Abstract

Number sense suatu kemampuan numerik dasar yang berkaitan dengan konsep bilangan beserta operasinya. Kemampuan number sense harus dimiliki dalam diri siswa, dikarenakan sebagai dasar kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematis. Kemampuan number sense secara psikologi dapat dipengaruhi oleh gaya kognitif siswa yang dapat dibedakan menjadi Field Independent (FI) dan Field Dependent (FD). Penelitian ini menganalisis terkait dengan kemampuan number sense siswa SMP pada materi bilangan pecahan ditinjau dari gaya kognitif FI dan FD.Subjek dalam penelitian ini diambil 2 siswa yang meliputi kategori siswa bergaya kognitif Field Dependend dan Field Independent dengan masing-masing kategori terdiri dari 1 siswa. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari hasil pekerjaan siswa pada soal tes number sense, dan hasil wawancara. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik triangulasi data untuk memeriksa keabsahan data yang telah diperoleh.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa FI mampu memahami konsep bilangan, merepresentasi bilangan yang setara dan ekuivalen, mengemukakan pengaruh bilangan serta hasilnya, serta mampu menyusun strategi perhitungan dengan baik, sedangkan untuk siswa FD belum memenuhi sebagian indikator number sense.
