Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the essential skills in this 21st century. Students' critical thinking in mathematics has yet to be optimal. Therefore, this study aims to produce Problem-Based Learning Worksheets, particularly on the Cartesian Diagram topic, that are valid and practical to support students' critical thinking skills. The critical thinking skills indicators are giving simple explanations, building basic skills, concluding, giving advanced reasons, and devising strategies. This research uses a 4-D development model consisting of 4 stages: define, design, development, and disseminate. However, this article will only discuss the first three stages. This study involved two experts in mathematics content, two in mathematics learning media, and 34 eight grade public junior high school students in Kartasura, Central Java, Indonesia. The data collection method applied in this study is questionnaires. Based on the data analysis, the worksheet developed is valid (with the good category), with an average score of 4,1 and 4,0 from the content and learning media experts, respectively. At the same time, students' responses on the practicality of the worksheets were an average of 4,2, which is in the excellent category. In addition, it shows that 64,70 % of students reaching the minimum score requirement (75) for the critical thinking test. Therefore, the Problem-Based Learning worksheets developed reach valid and practical categories to support students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the contribution of learning motivation, learning activeness, and numeracy skills on vocational high school students' mathematics learning achievement. This quantitative research involves a population of grade X students at a private vocational high school in Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia, Academic Year 2022/2023. With the quota sampling technique, 45 students were obtained as the research sample. The data-collecting method applied is questionnaires and tests. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression tests with a significance level of 5% using SPSS software. The normality, linearity, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, and heteroscedasticity tests were performed as prerequisite analysis tests. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that: (1) There is a significant contribution of learning motivation to student learning outcomes with a partial determination coefficient of 14.77, (2) There is no significant contribution of active learning to student learning outcomes, with a partial determination coefficient of 3.21. (3) There is no significant contribution from numeracy skills to student learning outcomes, with a partial determination coefficient of 0.01, (4) there is a significant contribution of learning motivation, learning activeness, and numeracy skills on vocational high school students mathematics learning achievement with a simultaneous determination coefficient ( ) of 0.18. It means that the percentage of contribution given by learning motivation, learning activeness, and numeracy skills on vocational high school students mathematics learning achievement is 18%. In comparison, other factors outside this study influence the remaining 82%. Keywords: learning motivation, learning activeness, numeracy skills, and mathematics learning achievement.

Abstract

This research is about the development of a PjBL-based student worksheet that aims to support the numeracy skills of students, especially at the junior high school level, and to describe the development process as well as the validity and feasibility of PjBL-based student worksheet on the topic of integers to support the numeracy skills of seventh-grade students. This research uses the ADDIE development model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, evaluation). The development stages in this research are preliminary studies, planning, worksheet development, worksheet validation, and worksheet feasibility testing. The subjects of this study were seventh-grade students of a private junior high school in Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia, in the 2023/2024 academic year. The data obtained from this study were interviews and questionnaire assessments. The worksheet validation by two expert validators showed that the worksheet was declared very valid with an average score of 3.725. The feasibility test results based on a questionnaire from students showed an average score of 3.248 with a very valid category.
