Abstract

PT Kusuma Mulia Plasindo Infitex is an industrial company engaged in textiles and plastics where one of the products is polypropylene (pp) plastic. The problem that occurs at PT Kusuma Mulia Plasindo Infitex is the quality of products that are still experiencing defects, Based on the results of the analysis in February 2023 with a total production of 76,569.58 Kg, there is reject data of 4,640.73 Kg and the percentage of product defects that occur, which is 6.10%. The purpose of this study is to determine the types of defects as well as the most dominant causative factors of defects. This research uses the Seven Tools method to find the root cause of the problem being solved, as well as the Kaizen Five M Checklist and Kaizen Five Step Plan to provide suggestions for improvements to the company. Based on the results of data processing, there are three types of defects, namely side rupture defects obtained a percentage of 43.91% with a total defect of 2,037.58 Kg, middle folding defects of 43. 88% with a total defect of 2,036.16 Kg and thick / thin defects of 12% with a total defect of 566.99 Kg. Based on the fishbone diagram, it can be known that the occurrence of defects is caused by several factors, namely from humans, materials, methods an d machines. Proposed improvements using the Kaizen five m checklist analysis are to carry out machine maintenance, periodic checks, conduct briefings before work and control the management of the kaizen five step plan, namely Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke.
