Abstract

Green building is the concept of designing, building, operating, and maintaining buildings that pay attention to the use of natural resources, indoor air quality, and the health of the occupants. This green building is the choice in responding to the issue of limited non-renewable energy. To monitor the environmental conditions of green buildings, a sensor system is needed to maintain environmental conditions according to standards. This study aims to design a sensor system to monitor environmental conditions in Universitas Multimedia Nusantara. A real-time monitoring system is needed to maintain the green building environment's condition. The results of the study succeeded in designing a real-time monitoring system for green building environmental sensors, especially web-based classrooms using the NodeMCU ESP8266, DHT22 Sensor, and LDR Sensor. The difference in readings between the monitoring sensor system and the environment meter for lighting levels, temperature, and humidity respectively is 0.67 lux, 0.9°C, and 5.8%RH.

Abstract

PT Pertamina (Persero) as the vanguard of the archipelago's energy has committed to finding and developing new and renewable energy sources to support national energy independence and sovereignty. One of the concrete steps taken by PT Pertamina through the Cilacap Processing Unit IV is to build a Solar Power Plant. One of the strategic solar power plant construction sites in an empty land area close to the 500 kV Adipala Sutet Power Network is located in Cilacap regency with an average global horizontal irradiation (GHI) value of 1908 kWh/m2. With this value, the installation of solar rooftops is the right solution to support electricity production using renewable energy. The electricity load consumption from the city in one year is 1785.6 KWh and is currently entirely supplied by PLN. In this study, a Solar Power Plant design was carried out on vacant land around housing that can be produced in one year. The design and calculations were carried out using the help of PVSyst and RETScreen software. From the simulation results, the results obtained are a Solar Power Plant that has been designed to produce 463 kWh per year which can meet 25.9% of electricity needs at the design site with a Solar Power Plant performance ratio of 85.74% where Solar Power Plant can produce electrical energy of 1531 KWh per year.

Abstract

The growth of the number of interconnected wireless devices such as the Internet of Things (IoT) is continuously increasing across various sectors, including smart buildings, smart offices, smart cities, and others. According to estimates, by the year 2030, there will be at least 50 billion devices interconnected through networks. The escalating number of uncontrolled wireless devices can lead to various issues such as interference, collisions, and data loss, resulting in an overall decline in network system performance. This study aims to propose a scenario as an alternative solution to optimize the overall network performance in the system by assigning channels to each interconnected wireless pair to reduce the impact of interference. This research indicates that the proposed method successfully enhances the system throughput performance by 39.75% compared to the condition where all wireless pairs operate on the same channel, thereby outperforming several other comparative methods.

Abstract

This article discusses the impact of energy use on CO2 emissions, especially the transition from fossil energy to renewable energy. Since the industrial revolution until today, fossil energy has been the main source of energy. The COVID-19 pandemic played a significant role in transformingthe global energy paradigm. Restrictions on social activities during the pandemic resulted in a drastic decrease in the use of fossil energy and increased the use of renewable energy. A critical analysis of energy consumption, availability of energy sources, and the impact of fossil and renewable energy use provides an overview of the energy transition that is taking place. It can be concluded that this article illustrates the significant changes in energy consumption patterns before, during and after COVID-19.

Abstract

This Community Partnership Program Activity (PKM) partners with Putri’s Home Cooking, a culinary SME located in Desa Legok, Tangerang, Banten. One crucial aspect of the business is marketing, and the challenges faced by the partner include difficulty in acquiring new customers, the absence of online sales, and the lack of food product labels. The objective of this activity is to utilize technology and science (IPTEK) for culinary SME business strategies to introduce and enhance the ongoing business for the betterment of the community's welfare. The issue confronted by the partner is the limited marketing reach. The solution to this issue involves creating an e-commerce website. The execution method for this activity consists of two phases: firstly, analyzing the partner's situation and conditions, and secondly, preparing the transfer of Appropriate Technology (TTG). The outcomes achieved include product photos for marketing purposes and the design of an e-commerce website, which can be used to market their products, thus helping the partner's culinary SME products from Desa Legok gain wider recognition.

Abstract

Madrasah Aliyah Raudlatul Irfan faces challenges in the learning process as it still adopts conventional models such as lectures and assignments. Consequently, the learning experience becomes monotonous, lacking support for individual students' exploration of their abilities. Changes and increased creativity are necessary to make the learning process more engaging and to facilitate the diversity of learning abilities. The introduction of the Project-Based Learning method is expected to create a more dynamic learning environment, allowing students to develop critical thinking skills. Through projects, students have the opportunity to produce tangible evidence of their mastery of the material, while teachers have improved their skills through training. The training methods involve lectures, Q&A sessions, discussions, and demonstrations, positively impacting teachers' knowledge of Project-Based Learning. Evaluation results indicate an improvement in teachers' abilities, suggesting that this training has successfully enhanced their understanding of this innovative learning model.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic led to a temporary reduction in global energy usage, offering a glimpse of environmental benefits. However, subsequent rebounding energy demands underscored the need for cleaner alternatives. This paper examines renewable energy options for Indonesia, focusing on South Sulawesi. The region boasts significant solar irradiation and hydropower potential, with biomass also offering viable energy generation. While wind power is less potent, certain areas with high wind speeds could benefit. Transitioning to renewable sources could mitigate environmental and health concerns, addressing pollution and temperature rise. By leveraging these abundant resources, South Sulawesi could secure sustainable energy while minimizing adverse impacts on both the environment and public health.

Abstract

This community outreach aims to conduct simulation training using DIALux Evo to estimate the visual comfort level in a room. Visual comfort is a crucial aspect of building design and management that can impact the occupant’s health, comfort, and productivity. However, it is often challenging for interior designers to accurately estimate the level of visual comfort. This activity involves the application of simulation technology using DIALux Evo. Participants will be provided with knowledge and skills in operating this software, covering tasks from designing rooms, placing objects, selecting building materials, and choosing artificial lighting, to analyzing, and visualizing the lighting level in a room, also will study SNI related to visual comfort. The program’s outcomes provide participants with the knowledge and skills to use DIALux Evo in estimating the visual comfort level before implementation. Finally, they can optimize space design, ensure appropriate lighting quality, and enhance the occupant’s comfort and health.
