Abstract

Kata Kunci: 2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), Flavanoid, Nilai IC50, Maserasi, Kuersetin The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal antioxidant IC50 value of Areca catechu L. using the DPPH method. Areca fruit extract (Areca catechu L.) with 96% ethanol using maceration procedure. The extract was evaporated using a rotary evaporator to obtain concentrated ethanol extract, after which a phytochemical screening was carried out to determine the content of secondary metabolites. Screening results showed that flavonoids and alkaloids were found in the ethanol extract of areca nut coconut shells. In addition, antioxidant activity was also tested with DPPH and uses quercetin as a standard. The IC50 of 96% ethanol extract is 69,979 µg/mL. In this review, IC50 results were obtained which showed the potential of A.catechu  ethanol extract as a strong antioxidant

Abstract

Kencana Ungu Leaf (Ruellia tuberosa L.) is a traditional plant that has antibacterial activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of Kencana Ungu leaves (Ruellia tuberosa L.) using TLC-Bioautography and Agar Diffusion methods. Simplisia from Kencana Ungu leaves (Ruellia tuberosa L.) was extracted by maceration method and then evaporated to obtain a thick extract. Preliminary testing, namely the antibacterial screening test, active extract at a concentration of 0.5% against Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, and Salmonella thypi. The results of the antibacterial activity test using the TLC-Bioautography method using chloroform: methanol (7:1) as an eluent showed results with an Rf value of 0.89 which inhibited the growth of Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, and Salmonella thypi bacteria. While the results of testing the antibacterial activity using the Agar Diffusion method obtained the largest diameter of the inhibition zone at a concentration of 20% for Escherichia coli bacteria with an inhibition zone diameter of 12.15 mm, Shigella dysenteriae with an inhibition zone diameter of 11.72 mm, and Salmonella thypi with an inhibition zone diameter of 12.67 mm

Abstract

Abstract

Duchesnea indica (jacks. ) focke., known as a medical plant that is used as raw ingredients for traditional medicines and herbs to increase the immune system because plants have the properties to cure and prevent various diseases. The objective of this study is to examine the quality of the duchesnea indica leaves extract by standardization method of specific and non specific parameters as well as the toxicity assay using using the Brine Shrimp Letality Test (BSLT). The results of specific parameter research include the identity of extracting duchesnea indica, Organoptic tests form extract samples that are used to extract thick, It's brown, Typical smell, astringent taste. The content of water soluble compounds is 18.67%, the content of ethanol soluble compounds is 0.03%, based in phytochemical screening test, the duchesnea indica leaves extract contain phenolic, flavonoid, tannin, Saponin and terpenoid. Non-specific parameters carried out include loss on drying of grounded Duchesne indica leaves at 0.029%, loss on drying of DuchesneA indica leaves extract at 0.026%, specific gravity determination at 0.83%, extract water content determination of 2.15%, total ash content is 3.70%, non-soluble acid of ash content is 1.32%. Thus, from these results, we can conclude that Duchesne indica leaf extract meets quality standards for extracting raw materials that can be used for traditional medicine. Research results: The standardized ethanol extract of duchesnea indica leaves is toxic to Artemia salina leach larvae.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify Piroxicam in herbal medicine for rheumatic pain circulating in Makassar. There are several traditional medicines that contain medicinal chemicals. Research has been conducted on the identification of medicinal chemicals (BKO) on several rheumatic herbs preparations in herbs shops in Makassar. The BKO which is often included in rheumatic herbs is the NSAID group, one of which is piroxicam. This inspection was conducted to know the presence of the chemical drug piroxicam contained within rheumatic herbs preparations and the samples used were 5 samples. The method used was a qualitative test using thin layer chromatography (TLC) consisting of a mobile phase mixed with n-hexane and acetone (7:3) and a stationary phase using Silica Gel GF254. The results of the TLC examination from 5 samples of herbal medicine added BKO piroxicam contained 3 samples including herbs A, B, and C because they had the same stain color at the same Rf value as the piroxicam. Some of the rheumatic herbs circulating in Makassar contain medicinal chemicals in the form of piroxicam.
