Abstract

Community Service carried out by the Faculty of Medicine at the Universitas Methodist Indonesia by providing counseling about the benefits of basic immunization. Community Service was held 14-16 April 2023 in Ajijulu Timur Village, Tigapanah District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. The counseling method used is by giving lectures, discussions and providing motivation. Question and answer discussions were carried out with the aim of gaining understanding, understanding and solutions as a form of solving problems and constraints faced by the local community. The results of this community service counseling and outreach are very effective considering that there are still many people who do not receive information about the benefits of immunization. With this counseling, the community becomes more aware of the importance of basic immunization. It is hoped that the people of Ajijulu will become more responsive and know how important this basic immunization is for infants, children and adolescents.

Abstract

Medan is one of the cities in North Sumatra has a population of mostly young people, where the number of young people in Medan City is 598,366 people. Among the total population, around 29,100 people experience reproductive health problems, namely the emergence of sexual diseases, both infectious and non-communicable. The high number of young people who experience reproductive disorders is caused by access to health services and health services that have not been maximized. This study used descriptive analytical method. The population of this study amounted to 29,100 people who experienced reproductive health problems, where reproductive health problems would cause sexual diseases. The population of this study amounted to 29,100 people who experienced reproductive health problems and who experienced obstacles in obtaining access and reproductive health services in Medan City, where the samples taken amounted to 59 residents who experienced reproductive health problems and who experienced obstacles in obtaining access and reproductive health services in Medan City. The results stated that the number of people who have a low level of reproductive health is the population in the East Medan District area which is on average in the age range of 15-19 years, where the average population who experience reproductive health problems is young women caused by reduced access to health services in the form of health workers, and reduced health services in the form of reduced emergency room services.

Abstract

Medan City is the 3rd largest city in Indonesia, where the number of young people in Medan City in 2022 is 598366 people, where the number of young people affected by this sexually transmitted disease is 9,050 cases in 2022 which increased from 2017 of 8,997 cases. This situation is caused by a lack of understanding of sexually transmitted diseases, as well as a lack of socialization from the health office regarding sexually transmitted diseases to young people in the Medan City area, so that the low understanding and knowledge about sexual diseases will have an impact on the chaotic and indifferent attitude of the young people of Medan City, resulting in the rampant occurrence of free sex and promiscuity among them which results in many cases of infectious diseases sexual appearance. This study used descriptive analytical method. The population of this study amounted to 9,050 young people who were exposed to sexually transmitted diseases and hospitalized, where the sample taken amounted to 60 young people who were exposed to sexually transmitted diseases and hospitalized. From the results of existing research, it can be concluded that young people infected with sexually transmitted diseases are young people whose prevalence is in Medan Kota District where this situation is caused by the lack of socialization about sexually transmitted diseases by the Medan City health office, as well as incorrect understanding from young people in Medan City District regarding knowledge literacy related to sexually transmitted diseases

Abstract

Community Service (PKM) in the form of health education conducted by lecturers at the Faculty of Medicine, Indonesian Methodist University provides outreach about the benefits of controlling hypertension and diabetes mellitus from an early age. PKM was held on August 5 2023 at the HKBP church, Medan Johor District, North Sumatra. Lectures, question and answer discussions and motivation are used as orientation methods. A question and answer discussion was held with the aim of gaining insight and understanding to avoid complications from hypertension and DM. The results of PKM's socialization and work are very effective considering that there are still many people who have not received information about the benefits of vaccination through the basic immunization program. This education makes people more aware of the importance of routine control of health services. The HKBP church community must be aware and know the importance of early control in avoiding complications.

Abstract

The aim of community service activities is to implement community service in implementing the Tri Dharma of higher education as well as contributing ideas and transferring knowledge to mothers, fathers, children and youth. This service activity was carried out on March 17 2022, with the material Increasing Body Immunity. This topic is really needed in order to provide information and knowledge regarding the eradication of mosquito nests which prevents the transmission of disease from mosquitoes. This topic was deliberately chosen considering that Indonesia is a tropical country so the role of medical personnel is very important in providing education to the public to behave in a clean life at home and around the home environment, where this activity aims to reduce the risk of transmission and contracting diseases that cause mosquito bites which can cause death.
