Abstract

Celery plants contain limonene which belongs to the terpen group which has the potential as antifungal. This study aims to determinethe formulation of celer essential oil anti-dandruff gel shampoo that meets the physical quality requirements with a concentration 0f 1%, 5%, 10%, and to test the effectiveness of celery essential oil anti- dandruff gel shampoo against the fungus Candida albicans that causes dandruff. The research method was carried out experimentally by making an anti-dandruff gel shampoo formula containing celery (Apium graveolens) essential oil and testing its effectiveness against the fungus Candida albicans that causes dandruff using the well method. This study tested the antifungal effectiveness of essential oil anti-dandruff gel shampoo from formula 0 without celery essential oil (blank) as a negative control, formula 1 with 1% celery essential oil concentration, formula 2 with 5% celery essential oil concentration, formula 3 with 10% celery essential oil concentration, and dandruff shampoo containing 2% ketoconazole as a positive control. The result showed that 1. Celery essential oil can be formulated into anti-dandruff gel shampoo preparations that meet the physical quality requirement. 2. The antifungal effect of celery essential oil anti-dandruff gel shampoo on Candida albicans fungus is very strong with an average inhibitor zone diameter of 20,36 mm in formula 1 21,40 mm in formula 2, 21,60 mm in formula 3. There were differences in the inhibitor vale of each concentration of celery essential oil gel shampoo (p<0,05). Concentration of 5% has provided an optimal effect in inhibiting the growth of the fungus Candida albicans.

Abstract

Bidara leaf is a plant that has the potential to act as an antiseptic. The bidara plant contains various compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, triterpenoids, saponins, lipids, and proteins. When kneaded, bidara leaves can produce foam and emit a highly fragrant aroma. The objective of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of bidara leaf in the formulation of powdered hand wash soap and to identify the effective concentration of bidara leaf extract against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The results of the study showed that the hand wash soap preparation containing bidara leaf ethanol extract powder exhibited antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, with a very strong inhibition zone. Among the formulations, the concentration of 5% in formulation 3 demonstrated the highest inhibitory power of 21.8 mm, classified as a very strong inhibitory power

Abstract

Penyakit infeksi merupakan suatu penyakit yang banyak diderita oleh masyarakat Indonesia sejak dulu. Salah satu tanaman sebagai bahan obat yang digunakan adalah Biji Kelabet (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.). Staphylococcus aureus dapat menyebabkan penyakit infeksi pada folikel rambut dan kelenjar keringat, bisul, jerawat serta infeksi pada luka. Sediaan krim merupakan salah satu sediaan farmasi yang digunakan secara topikal untuk pengobatan berbagai penyakit kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Ekstrak Biji Kelabet dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan krim dengan basis tipe M/A serta untuk mengetahui sediaan krim mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Uji stabilitas yang dilakukan yaitu uji organoleptik, uji homogenitas, uji viskositas, uji pH, uji daya sebar dan uji daya lekat dengan menggunakan metode Cycling test dan uji aktivitas antibakteri sediaan menggunakan metode difusi sumuran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada uji stabilitas tidak terdapat perbedaan hasil, baik sebelum cycling test maupun setelah cycling test. Pada uji aktivitas antibakteri dimana pertumbuhan bakteri dihambat oleh antibakteri pada sediaan krim Ekstrak Biji Kelabet dengan konsentrasi  5% dengan diameter daya hambat 8,5  mm, 10% dengan diameter daya hambat 10 mm dan 15% dengan diameter daya hambat 10,5 serta Kontrol positif  (Gentamicin 0,1%) dengan diameter daya hambat 26,6 mm. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah sediaan Krim Ekstrak Biji Kelabet dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan krim antibakteri dan memenuhi evaluasi stabilitas serta mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri dengan konsentrasi optimal 5% dengan zona hambat 8,5 mm yang sudah dapat menghambat pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus.
