Abstract

This study aims to analyze the 2013 curriculum policy for MI/SD. The focus of the study is on developing the science curriculum at the MI/SD level. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical study method based on library research. The use of scientific reference materials is a source of data and "tools" for data analysis of this research, which are quoted from credible pages including Google Scholar, DOAJ, Sinta, Science Direct, and Tandfonline. The results of this study indicate that the 2013 curriculum is a form of improvement from the previous curriculum related to aspects of the mindset of curriculum formulation based on the needs of students and innovative to the changes and developments of the times that are very fast. This is marked from the aspect of Graduate Competency Standards (SKL) which prioritize the needs of students, Content Standards (SI) which are integral in subjects including the formation of knowledge and skills attitudes. Furthermore, strengthening the improvement process is carried out through the use of scientific approach concepts to train students' higher order thinking skills (HOTS), as well as work process-based assessments and using student learning portfolios.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and define the beginning reading teaching and learning process. Some factors contributed to students’ first reading challenges and the teacher's strategies for overcoming those issues in grade II SDN 10 Koto Balingka. Eleven children with reading difficulties were identified as part of the study data gathered during the initial observation of the teaching and learning process in the classroom. In the 2023–2024 school year, it was known that several children had trouble starting to read in the second grade of SDN 10 Koto Balingka. This paper utilized a case study methodology and a qualitative technique with a descriptive qualitative design. Interview results served as the study's primary data sources, and secondary data came from research materials like books, notes, school-related information, learning reports, and documentation—specifically, photographs and audio recordings—related to students' understanding exercises. Perceptions, meetings, and documentation are used in the information-gathering processes. The instruments utilized in this study were guidelines for documentation, observation, and interviews. Data reduction, presentation, and conclusion were made in the data analysis step. The findings from this study show 1) The teacher's initial reading learning process emphasizes conjunctions in the form of simple sentences, using spelling and syllable methods. 2) Difficulty factors that hinder students from beginning reading in second grade consist of internal and external factors. Internal factors include students' physical intelligence, interest, and motivation. External factors include family factors and school factors. 3) Provide additional time for students who still have difficulty reading, teach them to read again by learning to read at home, pay more attention to students who still have difficulty reading at first, teach using various methods, and prepare interesting learning materials. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that in the teaching and learning process, there are students' difficulties in beginning reading, including (1) Difficulty in pronouncing consonants; (2) It is difficulty reading digraph letters; (3) It is difficult to distinguish similar letters; (4) Eliminating letters when we read words; (5) Difficulty in reading affixed words; (6) Not using punctuation marks; (7) reading haltingly so that there are many errors in reading; and (8) difficulty in understanding the contents of the reading. Difficulty factors that hinder students in beginning reading in grade II at SDN 10 Koto Balingka consist of students' internal and external factors. Internal factors include (1) Physical factors from students; (2) intelligence factors; (3) Interests; and (4) student motivation. Abstract

The reason for conducting research is based on several problems in the form of teaching activities whose center is still on the teacher (teacher centered), on the other hand the students' learning outcomes are still low and the teaching process has not been able to fully improve student outcomes in their learning. The aim of the research is to find out the effect of Couple Card media on Elementary School Students’ Science Learning Outcomes in Class IV MIN 8 Medan City. The research method used was in the form of an experiment through a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group, which acted as research subjects, consisting of 40 students of class IV. In analyzing the data, the researcher conducted a normality test accompanied by the Wilcoxon test due to not normally data distribution. Based on the Wilcoxon signed rank results, it can be seen that Asymp.Sig.(2-tailed) has a value of 0.001. Because the value of 0.000 is smaller than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05) it is understood that there are differences in learning outcomes with these differences being significant both in the pretest and post-test when learning is not carried out using couple card media. Through the use of media in the form of couple cards it is known that there is an influence on the learning outcomes passed by students so that it was concluded that the media in the form of couple cards provided an increase in student results in their learning.

Abstract

The Bamboo Dancing (BD) Learning Model begins with listening to the presentation of science material information from the teacher, then students study in groups of pairs. The material that has been discussed is then taught to other group members, by shifting in a clockwise direction and returning to the original pair. One of the lessons offered to improve the quality of learning Natural Sciences in elementary schools is a learning model that is based on a constructivist view because it is considered the most suitable for the characteristics of learning Natural Sciences. Through the basis of constructivism, students create meaning from experience after experience and what is learned. Experience after experience can be obtained by using cooperative learning models. One of the cooperative learning models that can be offered is the bamboo dancing type.
