Abstract

Background: Dental caries is a  process of tooth demineralization caused by acids produced from food metabolism in bacteria. One of the main etiological factors of dental caries is the microorganisms known as Streptococcus mutans bacteria. S. mutans is one of the components of human dental plaque that is associated with sucrose diet and high caries activity. Cucumber peel extract (Cucumis sativus L.) is known to have an antibacterial activity due to the presence of secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, steroids, alkaloids, saponins and phenols found in cucumber peel. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity at the lowest concentration of cucumber peel extract (Cucumis sativus L.) against Streptococcus mutans bacteria. Method: This study employed the disc diffusion method with a post-test only control group design. Streptococcus mutans bacteria were cultured on Mueller Hinton Agar media, and cucumber peel extract (Cucumis sativus L.) was applied as the antibacterial agent at concentrations of 0.01 g/ml, 0.05 g/ml, 0.1 g/ml, 0.2 g/ml, 0.4 g/ml and 0.5 g/ml with seven repetitions. Results: The results of the study showed that cucumber peel extract (Cucumis sativus L.) formed inhibition zones around the paper discs against the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria at concentrations of 0.4 g/ml and 0.5 g/ml. Conclusion: The concentrations of 0,4 g/ml and 0,5 g/ml are the lowest concentrations of cucumber peel extract (Cucumis sativus L.) that can inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria. Keywords : Antibacterial, Cucumber peel, Dental Caries, Streptococcus mutans

Abstract

This study aims to prove the effect of adding haruan fish extract powder (Channa striata) on increasing the strength of type II Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC) filling materials. The method used is a laboratory experimental method with a post-test-only control group design approach. There are 6 treatment groups, namely the addition of 10mg, 20mg, 30mg, 40mg, 50mg, and without addition (pure). This research was conducted at the Dental Materials Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry Study Program, Mulawarman University and PT. Sucofindo Samarinda. The study was conducted from August 2022 to March 2023. The results showed that the greatest compressive strength of glass ionomer cement (GIC) was found in pure glass ionomer cement (GIC) without the addition of haruan fish extract which showed a compressive strength value of 37.0 MPa. The more amount of haruan fish extract powder added, the lower the strength of the glass ionomer cement will be. There is a difference in compressive strength between pure glass ionomer cement (GIC) without haruan fish extract powder and glass ionomer cement (GIC) with haruan fish extract. In conclusion, Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC) type II without the addition of fish extract powder must have the greatest compressive strength compared to the addition of 10 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg, 40 mg, and 50 mg. The addition of haruan fish extract powder decreased the strength of the glass ionomer cement and no color change occurred. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dinamika produksi perikanan tangkap di Kota Surabaya pada tahun 2023 dengan fokus pada faktor-faktor yang berkaitan seperti jumlah nelayan, sarana dan prasarana, serta potensi hasil tangkapan. Surabaya, yang memiliki garis pantai sepanjang ±47,2 km menunjukkan potensi perikanan tangkap yang signifikan dengan berbagai jenis ikan ekonomis seperti manyung, gulamah, belanak, teri, rajungan, kepiting, udang putih jrebung, kerang darah, kakap putih, dan pari. Data menunjukkan fluktuasi jumlah nelayan dari 2.045 orang pada tahun 2019 menjadi 1.836 orang pada tahun 2023, yang mencerminkan tantangan keberlanjutan dan stabilitas dalam sektor ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan mengumpulkan data primer dan sekunder dari survei lapangan dan wawancara dengan nelayan, serta laporan dari Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Pertanian Kota Surabaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pola musiman dalam produksi perikanan dengan puncak produksi pada bulan Juli dan Agustus serta penurunan pada bulan Oktober dan November. Faktor lingkungan seperti kondisi ekosistem laut dan praktik penangkapan juga mempengaruhi dinamika ini. Selain itu, penelitian ini menyoroti penurunan jumlah nelayan dengan sarana dan prasarana dalam kondisi baik dari 894 nelayan pada tahun 2016 menjadi hanya 250 nelayan pada tahun 2020. Dengan pemahaman komprehensif terhadap faktor-faktor yang berkaitan, diharapkan dapat memberikan rekomendasi konkret untuk meningkatkan produktivitas, keberlanjutan, dan kesejahteraan nelayan di Surabaya.

Abstract

This article aims to explore Gambus Misri in Jombang Regency from a historical perspective. Gambus Misri which is an art form resulting from acculturation of Islam and culture whose existence contains its own elements, meanings and values for the people of Jombang. This study uses historical research methods with a diachronic approach. The analytical knife used in this research is cognitive anthropological theory developed by Ward. H. Goodenough. The results of this study can be concluded that: 1) Jombang Regency has a Muslim majority population with traditional arts which are identical with the santri community. In Gambus Misri, which pours out various combinations of music, dance, acting, jokes and religion, in which the religion contains several meanings of advice and preaching to invite goodness. 2) Art revitalized by STKIP PGRI Jombang students as an effort to revive this dead art. There were several efforts and preparations before, during and after the Gambus Misri performance. 3) Gambus Misri tides cause several changes, including; the development of players, the development of musical instruments, and there are values contained in them such as; changes in the value of Gambus Misri actors and technology transfer without changing the standard of Gambus Misri.

Abstract

Abstract: The Prophet Muhammad migrated on the 12th of Rab>i' al-Awwal in the 13th year of his prophethood and this gave rise to different conversion issues in the Gregorian calendar. Some converted in March 622 AD, while others converted in September 622 AD. The purpose of this article is to discuss the problem of conversion by finding the root of the problem by looking at the calendar aspects of the Elephant year and the Hijrah year which were in effect during the time of the Prophet Muhammad. This research uses historical methods with a philological approach. The results of this research show that there are three calendar systems in the world, namely the solar system (sun), the lunar system (rising moon), and the luni-solar system (a combination of solar and lunar years). Then, the Hijrah of the Prophet Muhammad was on 12 Rabi>' al-Awwal in the 13th year of the prophethood or 53 years of the Elephant, the correct conversion is March 622 AD.
