Abstract

Tunagrahita is a developmental disorder of brain function known as mental retardation. Based on this, it is necessary to give special attention to special schools by conducting socialization and counseling on oral health through education with interactive media with the aim of impro-ving the oral health of children with tuna grahita through interactive counseling and tooth brushing demonstrations at Sekolah Luar Biasa Ne-geri 1 Pangkep, Minasatene District, Pangkep Regency. Socialization and counseling of oral health through education is carried out with in-teractive media. It was found that the level of knowledge, attitudes, actions and poor oral health behavior in 40 students of SLBN 1 Pangkep increased after interactive education, namely 38 students showed moderate results and 2 students showed good results. It was concluded that there were changes after interactive education was carried out on knowledge, attitudes, actions and behavior in children with disabilities.

Abstract

Compound extracts from marine sponges are able to prevent the growth of cancer cells proliferation of malignant cells through the process of inducing apoptosis by chromatin condensation or DNA fragmentation that resulting in cancer cell apoptosis. This situation ultimately triggers the cell death programs through increasing the apoptotic pathway. This article is aimed to deter-mine the benefits of compounds derived from marine sponges in inhibiting the development of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Several bioactive compounds produced from marine sponges such as manoalide, stellettin B, methanol extract T. swinhoi, ilimaquinone, stigmamasterol increase oxidative stress, produce oxidative stress N-acetylcysteine, Mito-Tempo and ZVAD oral cancer cells, antiproliferative effects in oral cancer cells, oxidative stress regulates the increasing of subG1, inhibits caspase 3 and 3/7 activation, triggers higher ER stress, stronger cytotoxicity in KB/C152 cells compared to Jurkat/E6-1 cells, activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase which is as a role in the occurrence of apoptosis and DNA damage in oral cancer cells indicates that the sponges have the potential to inhibit OSCC. It is concluded that compounds derived from marine sponges can take a part in apoptosis, antiproliferation, cytotoxicity in oral cancer cells so they have the potential to inhibit OSCC.
