The first thing should be mastered by learners for learning a foreign language is vocabulary. Vocabulary is a foundation besides pronunciation and grammar for the learners. The result of the preliminary study at SMP Brawijaya Smart School for the seventh B students showed that the students had a problem in mastering vocabulary. It can be seen from the results of pre-test and interview with the English teacher. In this case, the researcher tried to increase their vocabulary by using song lyrics through the video clip. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on McTaggart’s theory which consisted of four stages in one cycle. They are planning, acting, observing and reflecting. This research was conducted in one cycle and consisted of three meetings to give the students’ treatment by using song lyrics through the video clip. The criteria of success were 70% of the seventh B students reached equal or more than 75 (minimum passing grade). For collecting the data, the researcher used the interview guide, observation sheet, observation checklist, field-notes, questionnaires, and test. The result of this research showed that the vocabulary of the students increased by using song lyrics through video clip as a media in teaching and learning. The percentage showed that 76,19% of students passed the criteria of success. Sixteen students got equal or more than 75 as the minimum passing grade. It can be concluded that the implementation of video clips was successful and effective to increase the students’ vocabulary.Penggunaan Lirik Lagu melalui Klip Video untuk Meningkatkan Penguasaan Kosakata Bahasa Inggris (Penelitian Tindak Kelas di SMP Brawijaya)Hal pertama yang harus dikuasai oleh pelajar untuk belajar bahasa asing adalah kosakata. Kosakata adalah fondasi selain pengucapan dan tata bahasa untuk pelajar. Hasil studi pendahuluan di SMP Brawijaya Smart School untuk siswa kelas VII B menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki masalah dalam menguasai kosakata. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil prates dan hasil wawancara guru bahasa Inggris. Dalam hal ini peneliti ingin meningkatkan kosakata siswa menggunakan lirik lagu melalui klip video. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) berdasarkan teori dari McTaggart yang terdiri dari empat tahapan dalam satu siklus, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam satu siklus dan terdiri atas tiga pertemuan untuk memberikan siswa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan lirik lagu melalui klip video. Kriteria keberhasilan dalam penelitian ini adalah 70% dari siswa kelas B mendapatkan nilai 75 (minimum kelulusan) atau lebih. Untuk mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan wawancara, lembar pengamatan, daftar pengamatan, catatan lapangan, angket, dan tes. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kosakata siswa meningkat dengan menggunakan lirik lagu melalui klip video sebagai media dalam proses belajar mengajar. Persentase menunjukkan bahwa 76,19% dari jumlah siswa berhasil mencapai kriteria keberhasilan. Ada enam belas siswa yang mendapatkan nilai 75 atau lebih. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan klip video sebagai media pembelajaran sukses dan efektif untuk meningkatkan kosakata siswa

Learning strategy has been widely acknowledged to play an important role in foreign language learning to help the learners in improving language competence. However, studies about language learning in EFL setting in various setting with different participants are still required as to provide a comprehensive representation of how language learning strategies are applied by L2 learners, particularly in an Indonesian EFL setting. This study aimed to examine what language learning strategies are used by EFL learners who work as the local tour guide at National Park of Bromo Tengger Semeru /Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS), located in East Java, Indonesia. Participants of this study were 33 English learners who work as local tour guide The instruments used was Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) version 7.0 adapted from Oxford (1990) consisting of 50 questions with 5 scale for each item. This study had a quantitative design as it dealt with the analysis of the numeric data collected from the questionnaire results and employed SPSS software as a tool to analyze descriptive statistics. The result showed that the most frequent strategy used was compensation strategy with mean value 3.64 and the least frequent strategy used was memory strategy with mean value 2.77.

A speech become a media to deliver an idea and thoughts which lead someone to show an ideology which reflected on the utterances. The aim of this research was find out the Ideology of Stephen Hawking that was reflected on his speech entitled ‘The Universe’ which uploaded on TEDTalks through the use of illocutionary act. The research method used was descriptive qualitative to get deep analysis by using note taking technique and the data was analyzed by using an approach of critical discourse analysis by Fairclough. This research utilized Speech Act by Austin (1962 and Searle (1977). The results showed that Stephen gave a lot of information from what he has known and proved about the universe then emphasized to the viewer that Big Bang is the beginning of the universe. It is supported by illocutionary act which used by Stephen Hawking, about 33,33% from the whole utterances the speaker used representative illocutionary act in act of informing. In the industrial field, transformers are used as a step-up voltage and are used as a step-down level. In a loaded transformer, the power that comes out of the transformer (transformer output power) is not always 100% because there are losses when channeling to the load. Both losses caused by current flowing in the copper wire, losses caused by alternating flux in the iron core, and losses caused by Eddy current in the iron core which result in the outgoing power (output power) from the transformer to the load is not the same as the incoming power (input power) to the transformer. This is known as the efficiency of the transformer. From these problems, the solution offered is to design and implement a transformer using an EI-shaped iron core which is arranged alternately which aims to prevent the occurrence of Eddy Current what happens in the coresolid by applying to the inverter. From the test results of the transformer, it can be concluded that the difference in flux density in the transformer when it is loaded will affect efficiency. The smaller the flux density of the transformer, the better the efficiency, while the greater the flux density of the transformer, the lower the efficiency.
