Abstract

Antibiotics are commonly used as food additives in broiler farms and their use tends to be excessive regardless and incorrect that can leave some antibiotic residues in chicken meat. The aimed of this study was to analyze on antibiotic residues level amoxicillin and tetracycline in chicken meat sold in Medan. The antibiotic residues analysis was conducted by extracting the antibiotic from chicken meat with water and acetonitrile (2:8, v/v) and detected by high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry detector using C-18 column (4.6 mm i.d., length 30 mm, particle size 1.8 µm) at 35 oC, with the mobile phases, 0.1 % formic acid solution in water and 0.1 % formic acid solution in methanol with gradient elution technique at a flow rate of 0.5 ml/minute. The result exhibited that the chicken meat that were collected from five markets in Medan apparently contained antibiotic residues tetracycline . The level of tetracyclin residue in chicken meat was 0.1157-1.4436 µg/g, which exceed the maximum level for tetracyclin residue allowed in foodstuffs of animal origin which is 0.1 ug/g. Abstract

Study of formulation of sunscreen cream with ethanolic extract of red rice bran (Oryza sativa L) and determining the SPF value in vitro using a UV spectrophotometer has been carried out. Ethanol extract of red rice bran has been shown antioxidant activity. Determining the SPF value due to determine the ability of the red rice bran ethanol extract to protect the skin from UV radiation. Ethanol extract of red rice bran was formulated in the form of a cream type o/w of F1 and F2 containing extract concentrations of 5% and 10%, respectively. Based on the research conducted, it was found that F2 had a higher SPF value of 13,098 than F1 of 11,861. Based on the SPF value generated from the formula, this study showed that the sunscreen cream preparation of red rice bran extract can protect the skin from UV radiation maximally for 110-130 minutes.

Abstract

Simpur air is one of plant that has been using as traditional medicine for treating several diseases. Some studies on its chemical constituents and biological activities of this species have been published. However, chemical constituents and antioxidant activity of this plant which is Riau origin has not been reported before. This study aims to determine the total of phenolic and flavonoid content as well as its antioxidant activity of methanol extracts of roots, leaves and flowers of simpur air. Determination of total of phenolic and flavonoid content was performed by spectrophotometric method using Folin Ciocalteu and AlCl3 as reagents, respectively. Whereas, its antioxidant activity was evaluated using DPPH method. The results showed that methanol extracts of its roots afforded the highest total of phenolic and flavonoid content and also its antioxidant activity. The total of phenolic content of methanol extracts of its roots of 428.131 GAE/mg extract; its total of flavonoid content of 766.164 QE/mg extract; as for its antioxidant activity gave IC50 value of 3.852 µg/ml.

Abstract

Palm fruit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) is a natural source of vitamin E (tocopherol). This study has determined vitamin E levels in n-hexane extracts of palm fruit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) and CPO (Crude Palm Oil) using HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) method. The subject were palm fruit and CPO obtained from plantations and palm fruit mills PT X located in Kampar district, Riau. Extraction of palm fruit and CPO using ultrasonication and saponification method. Measurement using HPLC obtained optimum conditions using mobile phase acetonitrile: water (86:14), flow 1 mL/minute, UV-Vis detector at wavelength 284 nm and obtained retention time is 3,488 minutes. Determination of the calibration curve is obtained the regression equation y = 702,872x + 3273,26 and r2 = 0,9985. The result of the determination vitamin E levels in the palm fruit extract and CPO sequentially is (469,4008 ± 2,5879) µg/mg and for CPO is (262,5248 ± 6,3987) µg/mg.

Abstract

Determination of berberine content of ethanol extract of root and stem of “sekunyit” (Fibraurea tinctoria Lour) has been conducted. “Sekunyit” is one of medicinal plant that has been used to treat several diseases traditionally. Its root and stem could relieve jaundice, diarrhea, conjunctivitis as well as antidiabetic agent. Based on previous study, it is known that Fibraurea tinctoria contains isoquinoline alkaloid, berberine. This present study aims to determine berberine content which was done by HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) method using C-18 reverse phase column, methanol : phosphate buffer (pH 6,8) as its mobile phase with flow rate of 1 ml/min and UV detector. Abstract

Terpenoid Isolated and characterization of terpenoid from the ethyl acetate extract of stem bark of Shorea conica had been done by usingextraction, vacuum liquid chromatography and column chromatography methods. The aim of this research was to isolation and characterization thesecondary metabolites of stem bark of Shorea conica The research results obtained pure compound EA2 the form ofamorphoussolid coloredyellowish-white and has a melting point of 207oC-209oC, soluble in ethyl acetate with RF 0.5 in comparison eluent hexane:ethyl acetate 6: 4 whichpositive with reagent Liebermann-Bouchard. Abstract

Formaldehyde or better known as formalin is one of the food additives that are prohibited and should not be added to the diet according to thelegislation in force. The method used is a qualitative analysis using the reagent kromatofat acid and resorcinol. This study aims to determine thepresence or absence of formaldehyde in salted fish sold in the Pasar Bawah Pekanbaru. Salted fish sampling method used is purposive samplingmethod. The results of a sensitivity test using a chemical reaction reagent kromatofat acid and resorcinol at each concentration as follows: 0.5; 1; 1.5;2; and 2.5 ppm obtained the same results that both kromatofat acid and resorcinol reagent has a minimum sensitivity at a concentration of 1 ppm givepink-purple and purple rings / purple. Abstract

Guava fruit (Psidium guajava. L.) is consist at phenolics content that have antioxidant activirt and the possibility of using as sunscreen. The purpose of this research was to determine the concentration of extracts that have a potential sunscreen profile by determining the value of erythema transmission, pigmentation transmission and sun protection factor (SPF). Sunscreen activity was carried out in vitro using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. Ethanol extract, red guava and white guava fruit are made to concentration of 100; 150; 200; 250 ppm, each absorption was measured in the UV A and UV B areas. As result the extract of red guava at a concentration of 250 ppm had %Te value was 15.32% which was included in the category fast tanning, %Tp was 25.4% which was included in the sunblock category and the SPF value was 8,228 which was categorized as maximum protection. The extract of white guava at a concentration of 250 ppm had %Te value of 12.51% which was included in Suntan standard category, the % Tp value was 21.97% which belongs to the sunblock category and the SPF value was 8, 945 which was categorized as maximum protection. Abstract

Bauhinia semibifida Roxb. is a plant has potensial as antioxidant. The purpose of this research is to isolate alkaloids fraction from methanol extract and to examine the activity of antioxidant with DPPH method. The extraction was done by using maceration method with metanol solvent and an acid-base was performed on the extract with acid citric 2% and amonia, and fractionation with ethyl acetat and butanol solvents. The ethyl acetat fraction was separated by column chromtography. The isolates from column chromatography was labeled SA fraction, which a yellow colour oil. Based on phytochemicals data analysis, the spectroscopy of UV-Vis, FT-IR, and LC-MS, it can be concluded that the SA fraction is a compound has a NH functional group (alkaoids), and has very weak antioxidant activity with IC50 429,64 mg/mL.

Abstract

Sinar matahari memiliki manfaat bagi kesehatan. Sering terpapar sinar matahari menyebabkan kulit kemerahan, peradangan, dan menyebabkan terjadinya kanker kulit. Salah satu cara untuk melindungi kulit dari sinar matahari yaitu dengan menggunakan tabir surya. Daun marpuyan (Rhodamnia cinerea Jack) mempunyai kandungan flavonoid total dan fenolik total yang tinggi serta memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai bahan aktif alami krim tabir surya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memformulasi dan mengevaluasi krim tabir surya ekstrak etanol daun marpuyan (Rhodamnia cinerea Jack) serta mengetahui nilai persen transmisi eritema (%Te), persen transmisi pigmentasi (%Tp), dan nilai Sun Protection Factor (SPF). Dibuat empat formula dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun marpuyan dalam krim yaitu, F0 (0%), F1 (0,1% b/b), F2 (0,5% b/b), dan F3 (1% b/b). Hasil menunjukkan nilai SPF F0, F1, F2, dan F3 berturut-turut 1,05; 4,68 (proteksi sedang); 4,74 (proteksi sedang); dan 9,36 (proteksi maksimal). Nilai SPF antar formula berbeda signifikan yang mana konsentrasi ekstrak berbanding lurus dengan nilai SPF. Kata kunci : Tabir surya, daun marpuyan, formulasi, Sun Protection Factor (SPF)
