Abstract

This research aims to determine the language behavior of Basa Osing speakers in phonological aspects. This research is important because of the debate over the Basa Osing linguistic status which considers that Basa Osing is only a variation of Javanese, and the other assumption that Basa Osing is an independent local language. This kind of situation will probably affect the behavior of Basa Osing speakers. This research used qualitative methods and collecting data by using silent movie and picture. The participants involved in this research are 10 Basa Osing speakers. Errors found in pronouncing Basa Osing are in form of ignoring the diphtongization of vocals /i/ and /u/ at the end of the word and the palatalization of /b/ at the beginning and at the middle of the word, /d/ at the middle of the word, /D/ at the middle of the word, /g/ at the beginning and middle of the word, and /m/ in the middle of the word, so that the spoken word sounds more like a word in Javanese than Basa Osing.

Abstract

Literature work is one of many creative mediums for an author in expressing their imagination. The imagination set forth in a literary work is closely related to the author's environment and social phenomena, together with the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of a literary work, these messages are made livelier so that they are more accepted by their respective audience. The social reflection raised in a literary work is often in the form of criticism of the author regarding an issue, using literary work to convey criticism regarding a social issue isn’t something unheard of, there are plenty of authors that did exactly that, and Chao Te - yin is no exception. Chao Te-Yin 《趙德胤》 or better known as Midi Z raises the issue of gender-based violence in the film industry through his movie titled Nina Wu《灼人秘密》. Using the mimetic approach paired with the descriptive qualitative method, the author conducts in-depth observations to collect data obtained through dialogue, and symbols presented in the movie.  By doing so, the author found that there are various forms of abuse or misconduct in the film industry namely psychological, emotional, physical, and sexual that severely impacted the victim’s mental well-being.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the language attitude of Basa Osing speakers. This research is important because of the debate over the Basa Osing linguistic status which considers that Basa Osing is only a variation of Javanese, and the other assumption that Basa Osing is an independent local language. The highlight of the debate was when the Governor of East Java removed Basa Osing from the curriculum of local content. It will affect the attitudes and behavior of Osing speakers, especially young speakers. This research used quantitative method and involved 100 participants around Banyuwangi. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaires. This research proved that there is decline of positive attitudes shown between generation to generation (group I score = 3.19, group 2 = 3.23, group 3 = 3.87). Basa Osing is very possible to experience language shifts in the future if the perspective of the society gets worse.

Abstract

Osing is a language spoken by the majority of people in Banyuwangi, East Java. However, there is obscurity on its status whether it is considered as one of the Javanese dialects or as an independent language originated in Java. Some noted that the Osing is another version of Javanese, while the people living in the Banyuwangi Region regard the Osing as a distinct identity that differentiates it from the rest of the Javanese speaking regions in Central and East Java. Hence, this research aims to provide linguistic evidence on the lexical differences between the Osing and Malang Javanese. The research is significant because there is no previous research that provides linguistic evidence on the differences between the Osing and other Javanese dialects. Data of this study was obtained through eliciting the production of the basic vocabulary of the Osing and Malang Javanese speakers. The findings of the research provide evidence to the observation of previous linguists in that the Osing is not a linguistically separate language of Javanese.

Abstract

Bahasa merupakan suatu bentuk komunikasi yang digunakan oleh manusia untuk berkomunikasi dengan manusia lainnya. Bahasa sendiri pada dasarnya mengalami suatu proses morfologis yang merupakan bagian dari linguistik salah satunya yaitu reduplikasi. Reduplikasi adalah suatu proses pengulangan morfem atau kata. Reduplikasi yang dianalisis dalam penelitian ini khususnya adalah reduplikasi kata kerja dan kata sifat. Penelitian ini menganalisis reduplikasi kata kerja Bahasa Mandarin dalam Novel 《原来我也有翅膀》yuánlái wǒ yě yǒu chìbǎng karya 张菱儿. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan memaparkan jenis dan pola reduplikasi apa saja digunakan dalam novel tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan diuraikan secara deskriptif. Dalam menganalisis data, penelitian ini mengadopsi teori morfologi struktural yang digagas oleh Saussure. Pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kepustakaan. Hasil dari penelitian ini terdapat tujuh pola reduplikasi yaitu, AA, A 一A, A了A, ABB，AAB，AABB，ABAB. Kata Kunci : morfologi, reduplikasi, kata kerja dan kata sifat

Abstract

Saat ini game banyak diminati oleh berbagai kalangan orang, mulai dari anak kecil hingga orang dewasa. Dalam game banyak karakter atau hero yang menarik dan bisa dimainkan, salah satunya adalah game mobile legends. Mobile legends merupakan game online asal Cina yang digemari oleh pemain dari berbagai negara salah satunya Indonesia. Game ini digemari karena memiliki banyak hero dengan kemampuan khusus yang memiliki latar belakang menarik. Penelitian ini membahas analisis metode penerjemahan yang digunakan dalam latar belakang hero Cadia Riverlands dan Vonetis Islands dalam game Mobile Legends. Jenis penilitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian kualitatif dengan metode penelitian analisis deskriptif. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan metode catat hasil pengamatan.Teori yang digunakan untuk menganalisis adalah teori metode penerjemahan Newmark (1988). Hasil dari data yang dianalisis ditemukan 25 hero Mobile Legends, 14 hero Cadia Riverlands, dan 11 hero Vonetis Islands. Dari 8 metode penerjemahan, pada latar belakang hero Cadia Riverlands dan Vonetis Islands dalam Mobile Legends hanya ditemukan 2 metode penerjemahan yang digunakan yaitu, 18 kalimat menggunakan metode penerjemahan bebas dan 7 kalimat menggunakan metode penerjemahan komunikatif. Kata Kunci : metode penerjemahan, deskripsi, game, Mobile Legends.
