Abstract

Background: Family members may experience physical and psychological side effects, such as poor hygiene, sleep disturbances, appetite loss, anxiety, sadness, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), if they are around critically ill patients who were treated in intensive care units. Ensuring family needs are met during patients' stays in the intensive care unit can help to lessen the negative impacts. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine whether nurse motivation and meeting the needs of their critically sick patients' families are related. Methods: The type of research is quantitative, descriptive correlational to determine the relationship between nurse motivation and meeting the needs of families of critical patients. The population in this study were all ICU nurses at One of Public Hospital in Salatiga, totaling 32 people using total sampling technique. Results: The results of this study indicate that the intensive care nurses in the ICU is in the good category in nurse motivation (53,3%), also family needs fulfillment in good category (50%).  Meeting the needs of the families of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit is correlated with nurse motivation (p value < 0,000). Conclusion: As a support system for the patient's recovery and to mitigate any negative effects on the family, nurses must attend to the needs of the critical patient's family.

Abstract

Introduction: Creating a program to establish a Disaster Safe Education Unit [Satuan Pendidikan Aman Bencana (SPAB)] is one of the initiatives the government is doing to prevent catastrophes and manage their effects in educational settings. Objective: The purpose of this community service project is to improve students' understanding of and proficiency in disaster preparedness. Method: The three types of activity approaches include planning, carrying out, and reviewing. 43 students participated in this activity, which involved a lecture and Q&A session. Result: It may be inferred from the activity's outcomes that educating students can help them become more knowledgeable about earthquake and flood disasters. The instructive exercise proceeded without any difficulties, and the participants engaged with great enthusiasm. Conclusion: In order to make sure that every student is aware of disaster readiness and can lower their risk of disaster, it is desired that the school would keep up its ongoing disaster preparedness education programs.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kematian akibat henti jantung di dunia sebanyak 16,17% dari total kasus, dengan 245.343 kasus di Indonesia pada tahun 2023. Tingginya angka kematian inilah yang mengharuskan Mahasiswa keperawatan sebagai first responder minimal harus memiliki pengetahuan dan pengalaman dasar terkait BHD. Pengetahuan mahasiswa keperawatan yang masih kurang, mendasari perlunya pertolongan BHD yang benar sesuai prosedur guna meminimalkan angka kematian korban. Banyaknya metode tradisional yang telah digunakan, mengharuskan penelitian ini menggunakan metode yang lebih interaktif yaitu dengan Simulasi Berbasis Manekin dan Skenario. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh simulasi Bantuan Hidup Dasar (BHD) terhadap pengetahuan mahasiswa keperawatan. Metode: Metode penelitian Quasy Experiment dengan jumlah sampel 126, tingkat pengetahuan diukur menggunakan kuesioner pengetahuan BHD yang sudah valid dan reliabel, kemudian di analisis menggunakan Uji Paired Sample T-Test. Pengambilan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2023 hingga bulan Juni 2024. Hasil: Tingkat pengetahuan sebelum dilakukan simulasi termasuk dalam kategori kurang (76%). Tingkat pengetahuan setelah dilakukan simulasi dalam kategori baik (94%). Terdapat pengaruh Tingkat pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan simulasi BHD dibuktikan dengan nilai p-value 0,001 < 0,05. Kesimpulan: Simulasi Bantuan Hidup Dasar (BHD) berbasis manekin dan skenario meningkatkan pengetahuan mahasiswa keperawatan dalam penanganan gawat darurat.
