Abstract

The objective of this research is intended to answer the problem about the Scattergories game is improve or not improve the students vocabulary skills at the seventh one (VII-1) grade students of SMP Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematang Siantar. This research was conducted at SMP Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematang Siantar. This research used quantitative with true experimental method. Population of this research was grade seventh with 2 classes which consists 61 students and the sample of this research was 30 students in one class. The technique of collecting data was pre-test and post-test. The technique of analyzing data by using some formulas. The result of the research was the mean score is 14 the standard deviation is 71 ttest of research (9,10) with the significant difference is 0,19. It means that H0 is rejected and Hais accepted. Using Scattergories game to improve vocabulary skillthe students in seventh grade of SMP Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematang Siantar. It can be concluded that teaching vocabulary with Scattergories game make the students more active in playing the game make the students more motivated and easier to understand and get the lesson

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the errors in writing descriptive text of the student’s at SMKN 3 Pematang Siantar. The researcher useddescriptive qualitative method. the population is the students of tenth grade researcher took one classes. From the calculation above, all the number of population is 68 students.So the researcher will take 34 students as a sample. The technique of collecting data was Validityand Reliability.mark omission (OM), addition (AD), misformation (MF) and misordering (MO).The occurance of omission error was 57, the occurance of addition error was 29, the occurrence of misformation error was 5 and the occurances of misordering error was 7. Occurrences which totaled was 79. The most dominant error made by students in writing descriptive text was 57 occurrences or about 72,15 % in omission. Most often errors occurred was error of omission about 29 (36,71%) occurrences. This types of error was usually caused by carelessness. Carelessness occurred when the students are not deliberate to do some mistakes, but the result showed that it was the mistake. The mistake came out from wrong written a phoneme omitted or mistyping

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the use of comic strip for improving the students’ reading comprehension of seventh grade students at SMP NEGERI 5 PEMATANGSIANTAR. This research was classified as a true-experimental study. It involved 30 students from two groups, Class VII7 (15 students) as control group and Class VII8 (15 students) as the experimental group. The control group was students taught using conventional technique whereas the experimental group was students taught using of comic strip. The data were obtained by using pre-test and post-test. The data of the pre-test and post-test of both groups were analyzed by using inferential statistics (SPSS 24). The result of the research shows that the testing hypothesis of post-test score, it is found that that tcount (.491)  >ttable  (2.172) at the significance level α =0.05 with the degrees of freedom (df) = 14, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means that there are the improving in students learning by using Comic Strip For Improving The Students’ Reading Comprehension  At SMP  Negeri 5 Pematangsiantar
